Super Metroid has the BEST music score, I have ever heard on the SNES (with DK 1 and especially 2, trailing right behind it). Man... So epic. This is the game that made me go out and buy a sound system, so I can really crank the volume and bass up.
Yoshi's Island had a lot of good tracks, too. And some surprisingly awesome ones laid out amongst the happy ones; the Castle theme, Underground theme, Boss Theme 2 (the intense one, not the silly one) and Baby Bowser's theme come to mind right away.
When Samus exploration leads her between Brinstar and Norfair.. Deep atmospheric ambiance with pulsating phosphorescence of strange lifeforms in the womb of Zebes.
yep the metroid series uses a lot of them same music just with a spin but it still sounds sooooo good the planet entry theme for aether in echoes and the one for norion in corrutpion are the same theme and i was told they both came as spinoffs from a them in this game
This music has something deeply relaxing. I often listen to it to unwind when I’m feeling anxious or stressed. For some reason, it reminds me of traditional Japanese music and feudal Japan.
They don't make soundtracks like these anymore. This one plays directly into your soul. It's been at least 12 years since I played this game but when I close my eyes and listen to the soundtrack, I feel like I can see Criteria, Brinstar, Norfair (and oh the heat), Maridia, and Wrecked ship! What a game!
This song still sends chills down my spine like it did back in 1996. When I used to play this I always thought thought it was rather strange how Brinstar can go from being bright, green full of life with cool funky music, to red depressing music by going though one door lol
Literally just discovered this song after my friend sat me down to play super metroid for the first time. I've played metroidvanias that take inspiration from these originals but never the originals themselves. Needless to say the game slaps and this song is what really stood out to me.

This game is a true masterpiece!
