  • On this episode we travel in our converted Ford transit van to Brown Brother’s Winery, Milawa. They have a free camping ground for RV, camper vans and caravans, where you must be completly self-contained.
Brown Brothers RV Site has a large open area for a wide range of vehicles. There is a water tap in the car park for potable water. The site is an quick walk to the cellar door or up to the restaurant. Brown brothers is located in a town called Milawa in the Victorian Gourmet Region This region is the culinary crossroad of Victoria and is home to many leading wineries and gourmet food producers.
Milawa is a small town located south-east of Wangaratta on the main road between Myrtleford and Glenrowan.
Milawa is situated in the heart of the Milawa Gourmet Region, which is an area noted for its wineries, farms, restaurants, local produce and craft. The region also extends west to the small town of Oxley, north to Tarrawingee and east to Markwood. Major attractions include the Brown Brothers Winery with its Epicurean Centre, the Milawa Cheese Company, Milawa Mustards and the Olive Shop. The town centre of Milawa is situated at the intersection of the road to Myrtleford (Snow Road) and the road to Bobinawarrah. A selection of shops, cafes, and a bakery are located here, including the historic Milawa Hotel which was established in 1865.
In the morning after getting bogged we travelled to Oxley where we had breakfast in our converted Ford transit van . Oxley is a town in Victoria, Australia, located on Snow Road, 13 kilometres south-east of Wangaratta, in the Rural City of Wangaratta. At the 2016 census, Oxley had a population of 631.
After breakfast, we headed back to the Milawa Cheese Company. David & Anne Brown founded Milawa’s Cheese Company with a dream to make delicious Australian farmhouse cheeses inspired by European methods.
At the Milawa shop you can purchase perfectly ripe and ready cheese direct from the cheesemaker, as well as enjoy artisanal produce from Milawa Bread and Wood Park Wines.
Then we headed into Wangaratta, which is a city in the northeast of Victoria, Australia, 236 km (147 mi) from Melbourne along the Hume Highway. The city had an estimated urban population of 19,318 at June 2018.
This is the third time we have visited Wangaratta in our converted Ford transit caravan, where we’ve stayed at two different caravan parks - so make sure you check out those videos on our TH-cam channel.
On our second morning, we were lucky enough to wake to hot-air balloons taking off over the top of our converted Ford transit campervan. What a magical sight!

When we used to get bogged we used old towels which always worked but sometimes we needed more towels than other times but they do work well so keep some old towels in your van just in case

loving your channel! Great video on this area. Next time you're there try the Mountain View Hotel at Whitfield (very dog friendly) and a lovely caravan park 500m away! about 20 min from where you where, also lots of free camping at Edi cutting and Gentle Annie (both popular)

Great videos guys. You really need Max Tracks to get out yourself free from being bogged. Ebay has some very reasonable priced ones. That's shocking what RACV said. Its really disappointing actually, considering you could see the road. RACV should have offered a tow its normally covered in the policy. We are enjoying how you show the camp grounds. What drone do you use, if you don't mind asking?

Thanks Michelle. Yeah, we need to look into those. We're looking at upgrading our wheels soon, so hopefully that makes a big difference. Yeah we were a bit annoyed with the RACV aspect - guess we can look back with a story to tell! Adam
