@@alextepe4309 It somewhat diminishes Mr. Reeve and his achievements to refer to him as Superman. Yes, he was wonderful in the role but there was so much more to him as an actor.
I don't understand why this was so savaged. I was in high school when I saw it. Taped it off cable, and we watched it in my drama class. The drama coach loved it, we loved it, and we ended up doing it as my last show as a senior. I played Lloyd and had the absolute time of my life. He's exactly the same in the play as Caine plays him here, and being a snarky arsehole was LOADs of fun.

A lot of actors & actresses are "good looking" by conventional media standards ..but Reeves, in looks & bearing, seems like some kind of natural nobility/royalty ..Hard to say why exactly. JulieAndrews has it also.
Peter Bogdanovich did a very good adaptation of a farce that seems challenging to do on the screen. It’s too bad it didn’t get a lot of box office. The direction and the casting are great, and there’s never been a funnier play.

This was not the best line when Michael Caine said that to Christopher Reeve. Lloyd could've said, "tonight" normally instead with his anger which caused Freddie to leave the scene as his wife (played by Marilu Henner) gets upset about it as she orders him to apologize.
Directors (Michael Caine's character Lloyd) can get very frustrated when there's just hours to go before the 1st show and there are constant interruptions from the actors. That's why Caine's character is angry. He's meant to be. I've been there as a former actor and as a director.
Does anybody else get a "DeathTrap" feel to this... Maybe it's because this and "DeathTrap" have both Christopher Reeve and Michael Caine... Just me? This looks awesome. Rest in Peace Chris!

I can agree. It's a combination of his face symmetry and their alignment. Notice his "noble" chin, his endless jawline, and how his eyes and eyebrows form the perfect "T" with his nose. He has the classic look of nobility. :-)

@@nick37104 That is the one where Lloyd got really angry about. So we see Brooke ran out and was crying. But can you please not say the whole line? It was not funny when you posted this comment
of course, there is. Reeve's character is a bit of a bumbling idiot. mind is unable to focus. sometimes you have to scream to wake them up. Also, if you've ever been in a play, the director screams @ everyone at some point in the rehearsals. Caine plays the near-the-breaking-point director quite well.
I do not like the way when Michael Caine screamed at Christopher Reeve, you guys. Look at his angry face at the 2:01 minute mark. You can tell that he is really angry. What was he talking about when he was talking to Freddie? In the next scene from the movie, He yelled at Brooke (who is played by Nicollette Sheridan) is when she did not say her line at the end of the play.
@@russellthompson9271 I have to disagree. He was pissed and angry because Freddie (Christopher Reeve) made him mad. He did it at Nicollette Sheridan. If that's not enough, He was slapped in the face twice by her and Poppy which Julie Hagerty plays

I just love Lloyd's motivation for Freddie and the box towards the end. Freddie's expression was priceless!
