Christopher Reeve the best Superman ever! No one like him. There are some good actors who portrayed the character in an acceptable way like Henry Cavill and Brandon Routh, but no one like the great Christopher Reeve. RIP. Thank you Superman for making us believe that a man can really fly.
Why I love Christopher Reeve Superman. Clark the nerd comes first. He has power but dials it down to make people feel comfortable then cranks it up when he needs to.. cause he's at his core Nice.
I especially like the way he said what the script writer wrote and acted like he was instructed to by the director. Really brought the character THEY invisioned to life. But sure, let's pretend it was the actor who designed the story and how it should be.
Henry was a wannabe Superman... whiny and selfish. Reeves embodied the greatest in the original comic book character Superman... as well as the flaws... but not to the point where he would let people die just to hide his powers or battle a villain as in the latest version of Supes.
@@dan_hitchman007 seriously? What movie were you watching?? Whining at what? He was very lost and wanted to find where he was from. Once he did he was happy. Yeah, he could have saved his dad. But his dad was willing to Sacrifice himself for Clark. Reeves is Superman was also universally loved. Cavill Superman was hated by lots of people. You can't expect him to be exactly like Reeves Superman
That's why you never could recognize Superman as being Clark Kent, Christopher Reeves knew exactly how to separate the two to where you didn't think twice when looking at Clark Kent... Christopher Reeves the best to ever do it...
I think it has to be recognized, or remembered, that Christopher Reeves studied at Juilliard. He was a classically trained actor. And rather than seeing Clark/Superman as a “GD, I should be doing Shakespeare instead, what have I been reduced to?”, he made it his. And I recall reading an interview where Reeves said, to make the two aspects of Clark/Superman distinct yet united, was a lot harder than he thought out would be. It’s not just lines and attitude, it’s physical posture, the way he walks, there’s a lot of important, key subtleties that have to be nailed to make it a convincing portrayal
I really miss this version of Superman. Christopher Reeves did an awesome job. No one could suspect this nerdy-reporter could be a superhero in tights. It had a perfect balance between humor and serious tonality. This is what DC is missing in their current superhero genre.
The way she reacts to his back is a nice window into how people viewed injuries back then. I even remember this still happening up to the end of the 90's. To be specific, I bet everyone who did sports or any physical activity remembers any time you felt pain or hurt yourself slightly. Your coach, friend, teammate would likely say something like, oh just push through it..... keep going.... no pain no gain. Its interesting to me (I use to work in a gym during the 2000's) when I saw the transition. I remember a guy doing just that on a bench press and his friends egging him on to stop complaining and push through his shoulder pain. Then a trainer with actual experience politely explain why this was actually a horrible ide and completely counter productive. Am I the only one who had experience with this kind of thinking (even just innocent version of it like lucy demonstrates above)
Christopher always did a great Clark Kent performance , probably the best. Usually thats the boring part of the movie in the other Superman versions but with this old ones it was either funny or entertaining.
The original, the one and only Christopher Reeve ladies and gentlemen. I had the pleasure of meeting you at the opening of Planer Hollywood in London, and it’s one of those moments in my life that, I will never forget. R.I.P Superman.
I just love how Clark Kent alwayz made other people think he waz a weak , puny , defenseless nerd .. Then all of a sudden he turns up the Superman Volumn on them to put them in their places ..
b g “they didn’t have special effects back then” this series pretty much invented the process to make flying seem magical/effortless without that godawful green screen look. Go back and watch the first one again.
Imma say he levitated lol considering his body is of Krytonian matter which is a lot denser than the average earthlings there is no way a weighted dips machine (which probably maxes out at like 200lbs) could lift him up
Christopher Reeve, not only did he make us believe that "a man could fly", but he also made us believe that Superman could act. Thanks Chris, we miss you.
This is one of the reasons why ppl dont realize hes superman. Superman has an alpha attitude. Clark is nerdy, awkward and passive kind of attitude. Top that off with the fact that superman doesnt hide his face, meaning he doesnt have a "secret life" so no one will look for him.
Christopher Reeves was a great actor for sure he changing from Clent to Superman in same scene shows how different character has and he portrays them both so flawlessly
I just love that he’s pretending to struggle to do a basic aerobic exercise when in actuality he could lift the entire building from its foundations with 1 hand lol.
Superman II has a great comeback when Clark gets his powers again. He visits the violent truck driver at the diner who beat him up and terrorized the patrons, and really puts him in his place.
One of the things I like about this scene is that it's the first sign of Lacy's redemption, and by that I mean it's where she humbles herself and becomes less like her father.
Superman = Christopher Reeve Rambo = Sylvester Stallone Terminator = Schwarzenegger Indiana Jones = Harrison Ford Irreplaceable actors in these characters.
2:12 Says “No pain, no gain” after tossing a 200lbs barbell like a bag of feathers to that douchebag trainer.... Hahaha, classic comeback, the trainer got a bigger burn than those who get hit by Superman’s eye lasers...
I wonder how Superman works out? He probably uses special weights, he is reputed to lift 250 quadrillion tons, with relative ease, so these weights, must literally feel, as light as a feather!
He was the best Superman and Clark Kent. There is no equal to the great Christopher Reeve. When he played the part he wasn't just playing those characters, he embodied them both physically and spiritually.

Clark doesn't lie, he just pretends to be weak. He's humble.
Clark trashes a truckers diner and gives random cash to the owner
Christopher Reeve the best Superman ever! No one like him. There are some good actors who portrayed the character in an acceptable way like Henry Cavill and Brandon Routh, but no one like the great Christopher Reeve. RIP. Thank you Superman for making us believe that a man can really fly.
No one could ever replace the authenticity of Christopher Reeve as Superman!!!
RIP to this legends. The only Superman that we need but don’t deserve. Gone to soon but wish we can see him on the big screen today
0:34 - 0:38 These little goofy bits in movies are the best thing ever.
Wasn't this bit off script?
Agreed...I laugh every time.
This is one scene where Clark really looks like Superman. Even has the same hairstyle.
Wonder my Lacey didn't notice it?
People turned blind they don't even notice the difference anymore. Clark is already the 'no one worthy to be noticed'
Stop Laughing Choose Like Funny Christopher Reeve Clark Kent is Superman Power Already Gym Experience But Why Bully Idiot Gym Customer
as superman he would comb the hair from the left
Whoknowsuknow 666
Why I love Christopher Reeve Superman. Clark the nerd comes first. He has power but dials it down to make people feel comfortable then cranks it up when he needs to.. cause he's at his core Nice.
You have to love Superman’s commitment to looking like a fool. Anyone else who had his powers (myself included) would have one hell of an ego.
Im from Malaysia..and Im watching this 30th Sept. 2019.. why?? Well to be honest Christopher Reeves is the one and only prefect Superman..ever!
i think the shy clark kent version is really the best.... clark and superman are really 2 different persons in the reeve movies....
In 1:35 the guy in the back is paddling backwards. lol
류기현 lmfao 😂👏
He is practicing his moonwalk. These were the 80s after all.
that must be nuclear man
The mirror made it look that way! haha
When you lie on your resume
But still get the job.
Christopher Reeve is my favorite superman forever!!
Peter Wu amen to that. Grew up on him
Tom is okay I guess
@@monk9803 Tom is the best Clark Kent. He never truly played the Superman character on Smallville.
He was literally SUPERMAN off the screen. An amazing Person.
I especially like the way he said what the script writer wrote and acted like he was instructed to by the director. Really brought the character THEY invisioned to life. But sure, let's pretend it was the actor who designed the story and how it should be.
As much as I love Henry Cavill as Superman, he'll never be as good a Clark Kent as Christopher Reeves was, RIP
Reeve's acting is simply impressive. How he manages to act like an naive adulto Man with maestry to hide who he is...
He fully delivers a Clark Kent impression, Reeves was built for this role.
Christopher Reeves is a legend man
Christopher Reeve as superman 💯
Courtney Gibson Jr He’s a true Superman who made us believe that a man can fly.
MISS CHRISTOPHER TERRIBLY MUCH💔💔💔💔😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭..R.I.P.
@@americanjesus8085
And with all that, that's what made the man untouchable and a legend of an actor with one role in his career...
Did a lot better job than He Man, i.e no attempt
I really miss this version of Superman. Christopher Reeves did an awesome job. No one could suspect this nerdy-reporter could be a superhero in tights. It had a perfect balance between humor and serious tonality. This is what DC is missing in their current superhero genre.
Even in this sucky sequel, Reeve was fantastic :)
Well, is just like Hugh Jackman in Wolverine Origins.
The movie is bad, but the actor still great.
*I know left*
All the Christopher Reeves Superman films are worth watching for Reeves' portrayal of Clark Kent.

The perfect superman
Did... Did he make himself fly to pull that off? Kal is a genius.
Nice observation
Christopher always did a great Clark Kent performance , probably the best. Usually thats the boring part of the movie in the other Superman versions but with this old ones it was either funny or entertaining.
The original, the one and only Christopher Reeve ladies and gentlemen.
I had the pleasure of meeting you at the opening of Planer Hollywood in London,
and it’s one of those moments in my life that, I will never forget.
R.I.P Superman.
Clark Kent is so funny
Blissy Chloe
Clarkent is sofunny
UniqueMythic take that back
Is this Chloe black
2:12. LMAO :D. I need to watch this movie again. Christopher Reeve was born for this role.
He was perfect for both Clark Kent and Superman. The awkwardness he portrays as Clark is perfect.
Christopher Reeve was the man in these films!! Best Superman ever and it's not even close.
I just love how Clark Kent alwayz made other people think he waz a weak , puny , defenseless nerd .. Then all of a sudden he turns up the Superman Volumn on them to put them in their places ..
the beauty of it all, clark kent is the disguise
The real question is at 0:54 , did he shift weight or did he fly? It looks like flying to me lol
Good Point :p
I say he levitated while he grabbed hold of the bars, and he just gave himself a little lift in the air.
b g “they didn’t have special effects back then” this series pretty much invented the process to make flying seem magical/effortless without that godawful green screen look. Go back and watch the first one again.
Imma say he levitated lol considering his body is of Krytonian matter which is a lot denser than the average earthlings there is no way a weighted dips machine (which probably maxes out at like 200lbs) could lift him up
He's still my fav original Superman
Christopher Reeve, not only did he make us believe that "a man could fly", but he also made us believe that Superman could act. Thanks Chris, we miss you.
This is one of the reasons why ppl dont realize hes superman. Superman has an alpha attitude. Clark is nerdy, awkward and passive kind of attitude.
Top that off with the fact that superman doesnt hide his face, meaning he doesnt have a "secret life" so no one will look for him.
He will always be my favorite Superman. I don't care who they put in the role. R.i.P Chris Reeve!
Chris really did fit the role of Superman.
Christopher Reeves was a great actor for sure he changing from Clent to Superman in same scene shows how different character has and he portrays them both so flawlessly
i loved the his facial expression when he went from clarke kent to superman it was so simple
0:55
When you realise that Superman must be dense asf so he had to fly up to make it look like that
The different in personality between superman and clark make it kinda make sense why people didnt notice clark is superman..
One of the many reasons why Chris Reeves was the best Superman; he could play a bumbling Clark Kent. Can you imagine Henry Cavill acting like that?
“Over here clarky”🤣🤣
It's so sad about Christopher Reeve. Loved these superman movies.
I just love that he’s pretending to struggle to do a basic aerobic exercise when in actuality he could lift the entire building from its foundations with 1 hand lol.
The best Superman saudade desse grande ator 🇧🇷🇧🇷😭😭😭
Never thought I’d need to see Clark Kent in a gym pretending to be weak! This is awesome
Superman II has a great comeback when Clark gets his powers again. He visits the violent truck driver at the diner who beat him up and terrorized the patrons, and really puts him in his place.

end part was good. no pain no gain. love the way Christopher says it,
This woman knows exactly what she want's and what a quality man is.
Hahahaha... The last joke was really good
One of the things I like about this scene is that it's the first sign of Lacy's redemption, and by that I mean it's where she humbles herself and becomes less like her father.
How Clark trolls the trainer "no pain no gain", I would have handled it differently though.
Really true great man.. My favorite hero
Best Superman ever
Love the ending!
Superman = Christopher Reeve
Rambo = Sylvester Stallone
Terminator = Schwarzenegger
Indiana Jones = Harrison Ford
Irreplaceable actors in these characters.
I guess your friend doesn't know his own strength.
Truth has never been spoken !
‘
I was 11 years old in 1987 when this movie came out
.
Superman 4 was awesome
The best superman's look ever
No pain No Gain, lesson learnt for life Mr Reeve aka SUPERMAN.
Vijay Krishnan learnt aint a word
still the only superman
2:12 Says “No pain, no gain” after tossing a 200lbs barbell like a bag of feathers to that douchebag trainer.... Hahaha, classic comeback, the trainer got a bigger burn than those who get hit by Superman’s eye lasers...
I wonder how Superman works out? He probably uses special weights, he is reputed to lift 250 quadrillion tons, with relative ease, so these weights, must literally feel, as light as a feather!
Funny they never ask why he doesn't sweat.strange he can lift those weights with one pinky, still uses both hands?I guess to keep the illusion maybe?
He was the best Superman and Clark Kent. There is no equal to the great Christopher Reeve. When he played the part he wasn't just playing those characters, he embodied them both physically and spiritually.
Christopher Reeves, forever my Superman
The guy who plays Paul (guy in red top white shorts) was in the original cast of mamma mia which I got to see in January 2000
Nicolas Colicos son of John Colicos who played the original Klingon in Star-Trek.
I wouldn't tell people that you saw Mama Mia but your life
Christopher's version of superman is savage asf😹
Clark gets even while Superman is a boy scout.
Yes Pain Yes Gain
Clark is so adorable, I can't handle it!!!!
Goodbye christopher reeve (1952 - 2004 )😥
Everything was Flat back then
Sho' Nuff the earth still is
MUY buena referencia.
@MK Timeless And the computers
2:11 best scene 😂
Still my fave part of the movie, when she leaves, Clark just tosses the heavy weight on his chest and he falls to the floor. Clark: No pain, no gain (meek, mocking expression) lol :) RIP CR :( you are still sorely missed.
i always loved when he would pretend to be an idiot lol
still worth watching after all these years, decades
