God truly is faithful, but we must understand the old and new covenants. Giving is certainly called for in the new covenant, however, tithing is old covenant. 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of [a]necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work Unfortunately the prosperity "gospel" has grabbed hold of people who see it as a give to get scheme. I hate the guilt trip some tithing teachings bring. It puts heavy weights on people's backs. This is what religion does. I used to tithe but couldn't keep up with expenses living in an expensive city and a spouse with an abusive habit. I became angry at God because I wanted to give tithes fully but couldn't unless sacrificing Christmas gifts for the kids, birthdays, groceries, household necessities, so on so forth. I then realized God wants us to give from our hearts out of the circumstance. It's good to give to God sacrificially with joy and not by feeling like it's a burden. That's why I feel tithing isn't wrong it does open the windows of heaven but teaching that you are cursed if you don't tithe every paycheck is wrong especially if you can't afford to! God still takes care of us no matter what we give. You can't out give God and he's always faithful and gives to us what we don't deserve. God sees when people don't give out of cheerfulness and are stingy and yet he still blesses them. The measure back to you increases by what you give that is true but God is good all the time! There are times of abundance and their are times of lack. Just learn to be content. Give from what you feel God wants you to give or by what you want to give to God or to someone in need to the glory of God.
Beautiful testimony. However, tithing 10% of your money is not correctly understanding scripture. Most churches misinterpret the scriptures in regards to giving. Be lead by the Holy Spirit to give in whatever ways and for however much he leads you to give. The Lord wants all of our heart not just following a misinterpreted tradition of giving 10%. We must study (the scriptures) to show ourselves approved as workmen who is worthy of the calling. I pray that this plants a seed for someone to allow the Lord to lead them to a deeper understanding of the scriptures. God bless.

That person your giving money to is probably an alcoholic or a drug addict, so if you give them money you have become an enabler, they will spend the money on drugs and alcohol. Not much they say will be the truth. Tell them where they can go to get help with their addiction.
If the tithe was already set in your heart to give GOD, then you give it to HIM. If the LORD leads you to give money to the homeless, do so. Whatever we have already decided to give GOD, that's what we do, else we would be giving away His money. Alms is what we give to help others that's beyond a tithe and offering.
To answer your question according to the Bible that would be no. The tithe is Holy to the Lord and is separate from giving to the poor. A tithe is for the house of God for the work of the Lord. I've been watching the 700 Club now for a couple weeks instead of asking for tithing all the time and shows about tithing little clips about tithing do some good and another thing stop worrying about Africans worry about people in this country that are homeless that are going without food children especially in this country
Another video on tithing based on ignorance........ ☹☹ in the OT, there were 3 tithes. 1. The Levitical, or sacred tithe (Num. 18: 21, 24). 2. The tithe of the feasts (Deut. 14:22-27). 3. The tithe for the poor (Deut. 14:28, 29). This is why in Malachi 3:10 (the passage they usually use the most to get Christians to tithe) it says "titheS" (PLURAL) So either you go with the OT law system and follow the 3 tithe giving. Or you know better than you're not Israel under the Old Covenant and know this doesn't apply to Christians today.
The choice to be generous is a personal decision. Ministries are designed and set up to be supported by the people. I am aware that there are those that abuse that but it should never delay your choice to follow a God-given principle of abundance. Be blessed.
This is the foolishness of false religion, false gospel which praises money, wealth, riches instead of calling all men to repent and obey the gospel of the Lord Jesus. Money and riches will never get you to heaven. Everyone must be born again to enter the kingdom of God. Everyone must be holy.

How can you possibly link your success to tithe? Jesus did not collect tithe and neither did any of the disciples. The tithe Abraham paid to Melchisedich was not out of his income, it was out of the property recovered that was stolen from his brother Lot. I wish above all you will prosper is not a promise to Christians. It was a promise God made to the Israelites at a specific point in their history.
