This is very helpful. When you say the prompt is "an invitation to write," what do you really mean by that? Personally, I am struggling understanding the importance of the prompt and if generally relating my essay to it is acceptable. I want to make the question my own; however, I am worried about straying too far from the prompt. In other words, could you help define the line between making the prompt my own and straying to far from it? Thank you, Shane
hi my name is Miguel Holguin and I'm in an early college high school with a 3.5 GPA with SAT score of 1400. my question is should I live and die by the topics??
hey, I will be applying to UT this August and is currently struggling with my essays. Do you know about any worshops or anyone who can help me edit my essays ?
Hi, so I am an OOS student applying for admission into the Middle Eastern Languages & Cultures major as well as the Arabic Flagship program. I have a 24 ACT but a 4.5 GPA since I have taken all Double Honors (pre-AP), AP, or IB classes. What do you think my chances are to get in? UT is my first choice and I am freaking out
+SoccerPickle#20 Hey thanks for your question! Unfortunately your ACT is pretty far below the average admit. Any idea what your class rank is? That's what UT looks at, not your GPA.
+UT Admissions Guy my school actually doesn't rank due to the various programs that it offers. So how much do you think that my ACT score is going to effect my chances?
+SoccerPickle#20 Got it. This is super common, the non-ranking. I cover it in a future video actually. I can't say anything meaningful about your GPA then, UT will assign you a rank internally. Your ACT score definitely makes UT a high reach nevertheless as the average is around a 29.
+UT Admissions Guy my English and Reading were high (28 and 25) but the other two were 22 with an 8 in writing. Also would I have an increased chance if I get into the flagship program first? Cause I submitted it late October and they said I would find out either this month or next. And my status of the portal says "in review" so will I find out about the decision from the school the same time as the program?

+Jack Klnet Hey Jack thanks for your comment! Your ACT is definitely well above average. UT only uses rank to evaluate candidates and not GPA. So without knowing how your GPA measures up to the rest of your class, I can't answer that.
+Jack Klnet Cool! You should be competitive then given how strong your test scores are. Best of luck! Please shoot me an e-mail if you would like assistance improving your application. -Kevin
+UT Admissions Guy I just wanted to ask you that do LOR really make a huge difference in admissions. Thank you
