- 2 years of off-road experience, that’s all @k20nartpro has under his belt. He’s not reckless, he has an exceptional understanding of driving dynamics from street, drag and track racing. He’s one of the top tuners in the USA and has been on shows like the smoking tire, and most recently a donut media episode. He’s come up with quite a few upgrades to his AWD “NART” which stands for Not A Real Truck. He’s officially the NARTPRO. I’m glad he’s part of this community, because I’m simply NOT willing to push the limits of my Honda. While the Subaru community has their trail hero’s like @gotrekyoself and @silverbulletxv , the Honda community had me, just some dude that’s scared of trail damage or breaking something. I’m just a moderate (4WD) difficulty kinda guy and my vehicle does most of the work. I was genuinely surprised that an iVTM4 and ZF9 equipped Honda could 3 wheel up a 30 degree hill climb with 3 to 4 foot ruts.
What this video clip also shows is that past the moderate level, there’s going to be risk involved and possible consequences to mistakes. The vehicle capability of a 4Runner and Jeep [alone] just won’t be enough and driver skill and willingness comes into play.

Most folks say the Ridgeline is not a real truck....Id say thats my next purchase.
You won’t regret. I just bought the 2024 and it’s my 3rd Ridgeline
@@enzobordone6774 tow a boat with it for a while, then update us all on how greay it is ??
@@vincesmith764I own a 22 and pulled a 16’ Jon boat 6x12 cargo 16’ flatbed trailer and it’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it. Does as good as my 13 Tacoma pulling things. Off road my Tacoma does do better but I bought the Ridgeline for highway it out rides my Tacoma by far so much quieter and smoother
@vincesmith764 If someone needs to regularly towing over 5000lbs, why would you by a mid-sized anyway? If owners never tow, why would towing matter?
@@vincesmith764 I have a Ram 1500 to tow my Grady White boat. Does great but just want something for highway.
This isn’t a regular Ridgeline. I have a 2022 RTLE- E. The one on the vid is definitely lifted to fit those tires! I’d love to lift mine too. Without the lift, clearance sucks but it is a great pickup for day to day. 26k miles in 2 years. No complaints💪🏻
The Ridgeline is fast too! So underrated.
VTEC KICKED IN YO!!!
iVTM-4 is a great system
Proves that momentum is the key!
Looked like the Ridgeline got a little more throttle 😂
The same, but he held his revs at the same spot. I’d be too scared to do this, I can’t blame the Landcruiser or Jeep 🤣. The white land may have successfully attempted again, there were so many LC80s I wasn’t sure if it was the same person.
That was impressive
I have a 2021 and it's my second one...Tow's my 22' boat
Whistlindiesel torture tested (destroyed) a Honda Ridgeline on his TH-cam channel. The poor old Ridgeline did pretty good in my opinion. Insecure Ford, Chevy, and Dodge truck owner always love to poo poo the Ridgeline as not a real truck, but it's real enough.
If it looks like a pickup and can tow, that's a pickup in my book!
I can't recall the last time someone checked underneath a pickup truck to confirm if it's a pickup truck.
The Ridgeline is dope!! I need one. Saving up for one. Want that HPD package on an RTL-E as well
Folks if you have or will get a Honda Ridgeline, Passport, or Pilot, please maintain the fluid service for the drive train. I saw a video where a Pilot with 80,000 miles had the forbidden glitter in the PTU (transfer case), it was smoked!
@@leebuck180 I made that video. It’s $10 worth of fluid. Yeah, I told people to change it every 15k rather than the Honda recommended 30K.
The PTU is right next to the transmission, which will get heat soaked when taking on tougher trails. If temps get into the 230F range on a fairly regular basis (which is still a safe temp), then change that transfer case fluid earlier.
The nice thing is that if that PTU was to fail. You can use hand tools to replace it. You can find them at a pick a part for $130, and brand spanking new, direct from Honda is $1200
I have one. Love my “minivan”.
Unibody has advantages in flex over rigid frame. People have always given unibody 4x4s a hard time, but the XJs proved that wrong years ago.
Momentum
Constant throttle, not too little, not too much
Ridgeline forever!
And they make a lot of jokes about this truck but who has the last laugh
the transmission. 😅😂😂
@@vincesmith764 Yup, 6 speed on mine bit the dust. Replaced under warranty but not impressed that it failed under normal driving circumstances
Was that HONDA lifted?
Yes
Any vids on what lift kit?
The person driving the ridgeline actually drove. The landsnoozer and Jeep went at it scared.
Nice dirtroad woopdiddy do
That is a very not stock Ridgeline.
Manny needs to show the engineers at Honda how to build a real Ridgeline Trail Sport. 😢
They could've at least put a Leveling Kit on it.
My outback could do that
Lets be real the outback can do just about anything 😂 those things are fkin awesome. I have a ridgeline atm but i used to drive a 2016 impreza and even that thing impressed the hell out of me in the snow and sand. An outback is that but many times better.
The Ridgeline went up it faster and thus used more momentum, while the other two tried to crawl up more slowly, and seemed to have open diffs and no traction contol to help. And for those who are instantly going to say I'm "hating," not even close, I like the i-VTM4 system, it is extremely capable and somewhat reminds me of my 2005 Mitsubishi Montero Limited's 4wd system when I use 4H.
It wasn’t so much that they went faster, it’s that they didn’t maintain constant throttle. There’s a full video posted, and it explains what went wrong and what he did to get up the hill on another attempt.
Amazing what happens when you hit the gas.
Honda lo mejor
A diferença de peso é muito grande entre os 2,comparando com o Honda Ridgeline!🤔
Yeah, that's not exactly stock...looks raised 2-3 inches and WAY bigger tires than OE
I mean. A stock Landcruiser 80 comes with 31” tires, the Landcruiser in this video has 37” tires and a huge lift.
H ❤
So?
😂😂😂
Ridgeline had all terrain tires. The others had all season tires. Big difference.
The original poster said the Toyota had 37s. I don't know many people who put 37s on anything that are all season
😂
☺️
'promo sm'
The landcruiser and Jeep were driven by noobs. And the rear diff on the Ridgline is independent. It's not that great off road never has been. This may have been a track set up for a certain vehicle. Show em all on a real trail not some covered side hill. Fake.
Honda is terrible look at the latest passport tests on driving sports tv. Overheating awd system
Watch the first review he did back in 2019. He was blown away, this was the first AWD that completed his cross cut hill test. He spun the tires and got an AWD hot warning test while he completed the obstacle. He pointed out that there was NO LIMP MODE. Fast forward to 2023 and the chief Honda Engineer admits that the AWD heat warning is triggered when the tires spin too much and that’s it’s a very conservative calculation. Also, I changed out my own fluids, the rear differential fluid is crystal clear, the color just goes from gold to pink. It’s funny how Ryan from Driving Sports TV gets all dramatic about the heat warning and never complains about Subaru CVT operation. He’s bought by Subaru my guy, and he will make any other auto manufacturer look bad for them. I owned a 2015 Forester XT and the CVT died in 2 years. I traded that sucker in. I have 5 years and 152K miles in my passport. Unsurprisingly, nothing has broke. I have had the AWD heat warning pop up 5 times. If you drive the Passport like a 4WD and not a Subaru, you won’t get the heat warning.
@@JonDZ_Adventuring I bought a new element back in the day. These days Hondas have very sus quality, especially the u.s. built ones. Look at the ridgeline leak issues, the new pilot’s myriad of problems…
@@Yoyomanmanholla the Honda Pilot/Passport and Ridgeline are on the Top 10 vehicles most likely to hit 250k miles list.
@@JonDZ_Adventuring mechanically they are fine. Water leaking into the cabin is hard to live with, for 250k miles.
@@YoyomanmanhollaYa’ I'm almost certain that all the Ridgelines manufactured have water leakage issues, I’ve never heard of it, 5 Ridgelines in my family, not one of them have ever leaked, I just don't get it.
