Tim and Matt have said on their Veep podcast that the entire cast was invested in this romance and would get so excited at the table reads whenever Kent and Sue had these scenes together. I have never felt so validated.
Flattering and bickering is not neccessarily flirting and at some point that were borderline dismissive and hateful towards each other. Not everything can be explained away by ''flirting'' as there are many forms of human interaction...
I wish more shows would do this type of thing, where subplots/relationships/character interactions are happening largely offscreen, while still being clearly acknowledged in the show. It really does a lot to add depth to a character/cast, without sacrificing the show's pacing. Also makes the characters seem more like real people
I agree. The subplots don’t necessarily need to evolve into a fully formed storyline but they just exist to humanize the characters. I think that’s one of the reasons Veep moves so fast. There’s a lot of interactions happening at once.
“I will not HAVE a scene”...while he makes a scene. lol. I love Kent. But it sucks that Sufe Bradshaw’s illness prevented her from being in the later seasons. At least we still got one last Sue scene in the finale.
+glitch4465 Sue has a boyfriend. Since we never got wind of her breaking up with him, I always assumed this Kent thing was mostly as we see it on-screen, a messed-up 'almost' relationship.
I just got into Veep and am on the fourth season. I really shipped the hell out of Kent and Sue thus far. They have this strange, electric chemistry. I could totally see them hooking up. Shame that we don't see that happen!!
If there was a Dan and Amy version of this, it would be twice the length. But this was a nice subplot. Too bad they dropped it, and Sue eventually disappeared.
@ OP: Idk if this is from another Season but the scene where.. Kent goes: "Nice dress" Sue: "It's a skirt" Kent: "Even better" and takes off. LOL so smooth! I laugh every time!
Kent doubling over in laughter at "Sue casa es su casa, sir" lives rent free in my head
the vibe felt real
Amen

Kent's "I will not have a scene!" as he storms out after her always kills me
He's used to a better class of tone.
I literally couldn't breath when that happened!! I almost choked from laughing!

"I respect your brevity... it's almost... threatening". Kent is just the best.
it's amazing how 4 minutes of the vaugest form of flirting have made me want them together more than any other couple currently on television
Then you certainly have not seen Gary Cole in The Good Wife with Christine Baranski. THAT you need to see.
I mean, Selina and Tom surpassed this in later seasons, but yes, Kent and Sue are still a very close second for me.
We will continue our pleasant chat at a later date.

They did that really well with The Haunting of Bly Manor and the cook and the housekeeper.
Many satirical comedy series do that.
I agree. I also think some people in these comments missed the implication that Kent and Sue got together and then broke up.
“What’s going on between you two?” “You and a Telephone” lol!
3:14 THE BEST. “You have put me in a hideous situation, REMOTELY, I might add, so from now on, REMOTELY is how we will interact.” How genius is that??
Right up there with "You didn't answer my text. Oh, there was no answering that".

The most believable romance on American TV.
Who wouldn't be obsessed with Sue. She's amazing.
When she said chemically relaxed I felt that
"No people skills...like a robot." Classic.
"humph"
"I'm used to a better class of tone." You gotta love Kent. What an a-hole, lol.
I assumed their love story went on in the background and just came to a natural end, lmao. I never thought the writers just dropped it.
I feel like they didn't even drop it, it's kinda clear from their later interactions that it ended.
Lol I don't think they ever even had a romantic relationship. Sue gets married fairly early on and we see her in bed with the same guy more than once.
"Tough call. But then again, you're a tough caller".
its awesome how everyone around them ( co-workers ) seem to kind of ignore or brush off their flirtation!
The level of competence in this video is staggering!

She’s doing better now, was in Lovecraft Country. Great actress, I look forward to seeing more of her!
@@vdubthefoxx6808 Yes she is! I screamed when I saw her in that episode. Truly was a welcome surprise. I hope we see more from her.
They're perfect for each other. They're both cancelling each other out. Still waiting for their on-screen kiss, that would be awesome.
Namcap01 Didn't they break up because of the Prince of Wales thing?
+glitch4465 Sue has a boyfriend. Since we never got wind of her breaking up with him, I always assumed this Kent thing was mostly as we see it on-screen, a messed-up 'almost' relationship.

Oh grow up, not all kind of ''chemistry'' is necessarily a sexual one
The only thing that doesn't surprise me is your capacity to surprise me
I really missed Sue this season. I hope she's back next year.
Lol it’s so cute when he answered Sue’s phone
They deserve their own show.
YES
No, they don't, they are not main characters. It would have quickly become annoying if they were in the center
Kent Davison/Gary Cole is soooo handsome in this role lol idk if it’s the beard or not but he is so sexy l
anthill927 he really really is!!!
TOTALLY AGREED! He drives me crazy especially when he talks numbers lol
No. It's just him.
