Of course it is not decent to throw a plastic bottle in the ocean....But I have been sitting here for years watching fishing boats with sometimes 6 times 450 horsepower at the transom....We are talking about console boats with 1 fat captain, 6 bikini models and 5 fishing rods.... As if that's so fantastic for the climate and the oceans in particular... Virtue signaling for the stage and hypocritical.....

Curious, I notice that on a number of the single hull boats near the front area where the water meets the bow there are some sort of slot in the hull. What is the purpose of these slots?

Unless the camera makes the channel seem narrower than it really is, aren't those somewhat insane speeds to be doing in a crowded waterway? Glad I'm on Puget Sound where, despite the numerous instant millionaires, the presence of an active professional maritime industry and heritage keeps things mostly under sane control.
Too many logs in the sound for fast boats. That is why they used to hold the races in Lake Washington.
It's the lens, Haulover is ~370' wide. A lot of what appear to be extremely close calls in these videos are really boats dozens of feet apart or more.
It’s interesting to observe what sorts of boats carry a mixed passenger load and what sorts are sausage parties
The fish is a Permit (Trachinotus falcatus). Looks too big to be a Pompano. It is rare that you would catch one like that in the inlet there. They are usually found around shipwrecks and the flats of south Florida and other tropical and sub-tropical climates. Nice catch. Most anglers release them as, but they do eat well.

1st Midnight Express look to be carbon fiber, way less weight than fiberglass even with all engines working on the 2nd boat it would be faster.

The other fish being shown around 8:48 are Dolphin fish ,also called Mahi Mahi.
I don't like the distinctive downward sloping bow shape of the Midnight Express boats, it may look "cool" but functionally that seems like it would be easier for a water to rise over the bow. Style over function. I prefer a Nor-Tech over an ME for sure. Anyone agree with this?
The sloping bow design is to get better visibility when getting on or off plane. The Nor-Tech v-hulls got a pretty pronounced sloping bow too.
@@LarsLindroth no, it’s distinctly a midnight express feature of the bow line to curve DOWN towards the water 💦. Worst in class design for seaworthiness
