      I’ve studied in Germany for 2 years (as well as in France and the UK), and honestly : no university I’ve studied at was as good as the university of Tuebingen (Baden-Wurttemberg). It‘s one of the oldest german universities, costs literally nothing, has an INCREDIBLE library and the greatest and nicest lecturers. The system is based on the concept of „self work“: you will spend little time in actual seminars/lectures, and are more or less free to study what and when you want, as well as for how long as you want (Bachelors take 3 years on paper, but most students study way longer).
      And, no worries, most classes have been in English (at least in my case), and even in german seminars, they were very understanding and nice to students who may have had some difficulties with the language.

  • @naa7210
    @naa7210 5 ปีที่แล้ว +57

    Studying somewhere in Europe and learning new language aside is a really good idea. You will be still not that far from UK but different language and culture. Good luck with decisions and your plans

      Amira Allag paying for uni per semester is usually around 300€ (paid once for 6 months) although universities set the price of some fees themselves so one might be 280€ and the other might be 310€. the living situation really depends on which city you live in, bigger cities are definitely more difficult to find a spot and more expansive but I think 230-400€ for a dorm room (if available) or one in a shared flat is average with 400€ being rather pricey.

If you aim at studying at one of the older, more classic and beautiful universities, living expenses are usually much higher than in other cities. Especially southern Germany tends to be more expensive.;) I hope this helps:)

    Running is really fun but I'd recommend easing into it with a few shorter events - aka a few 10kms, half marathons etc. I ran my first marathon last year after having run consistently for 3 years and trained intensively for 16 weeks in the lead up. The experience form other races and training for them was invaluable during the whole process. What I'd recommend is training for a few shorter events and working towards running another marathon in under 3:45 which would give you a time-based qualification for the London Marathon which in my opinion is a lot more rewarding having that mental and physical build up for a year or so rather than 'just' running it.
    For unit I'd recommend checking out University of Melbourne. Melbourne is so much nicer (and cheaper) than Sydney to live in (I've lived in both places). It has a vegan quarter close to the city, far better public transport (inner city), a much nicer and easily-navigatable CBD and a uni campus that is a 5 minute walk from the CBD making everything so nice and local. I moved to Melbourne to study and absolutely love it. I've done both my undergrad and postgrad at Melbourne Uni and can't recommend it enough!

I did my undergrad at George Washington University in Washington, DC and they have a really good public health and epidemiology program but a private university will be much more expensive than a public one such as the University of Maryland which is also a good school for public health and near by DC. Hi Holly! I have previously studied a BSc in public health nutrition and now I am continuing on with an MSc in Applied sports nutrition! I think that if you did want to practice nutrition following your course you should only look for courses in the UK as regulations in the US and EU are completely different which may affect your ability to practice here. Also if you are looking for a course you should look for one that is affiliated with the Association for Nutritionist (AfN). Most public health nutrition courses will touch base on epidemiology and nutritional disease and diet-related factors which you can then specialise your dissertation project around :) Hope this helps

    I finished A levels and always knew that travelling was gonna be a very important part of my life. As a sort of break from family stuff and hard studying after A levels, and before going straight to Uni, I thought.."Why the fuck shouldn't I go to Australia?!". So I went. And it was the most evolving, challenging, rewarding experience of my life. I packed up a bag and literally just left. I was in Sydney for 6 months travelling from hostel to hostel, which by the way I really encourage you to do, cheapest option but also the place where you will meet lots of people from all over around the world that are doing the same exact thing. Met some of my closest friends that are still now and ended up renting a house with them over there. Then decided that I wasn't done with seeing the world yet so I left alone for New Zealand and then Bali. I'm now waiting to go to St Mary's, Twickenham, in September. Honestly Holly, do it. It will change you forever.

    Colleges in Canada are different than College/University in the US, but we do have Masters programs that require a bachelors. You don't need to only go to University for a masters degree! I'm in Ontario and we got so many colleges with so many masters programs (especially around Toronto). Masters in Colleges get great field placements as well!
    edit: we call masters, "Graduate Programs" for colleges

    Definitely take a look at the University of Rochester in the US! It's super well known and well-regarded in the US, plus has a huge Public Health school for a master's degree. It's also smaller than Cornell, so they are a lot more personal! Good luck on your search!

    If you are considering the US for graduate school...Don’t underestimate public schools here. Places like Univeristy of Michigan, UCLA, etc. are regarded as just as good as the ivies here in the US (sometimes even more well regarded, as students at ivies have a stereotype of being pretentious). They can also be cheaper than private universities. I don’t know anything about specific programs though :) can’t wait to follow your journey :)

    Maybe you should also consider some universities in Scandinavia/The Nordic countries! I think our way of life would suit you plus if you learn either Danish, Swedish or Norwegian, you'll be able to understand all of them somewhat as they are similar, so that's three languages with one stone. The only hurdle is that we speak English very well, but we respect if you'd rather try your hand at Danish (or Swedish or Norwegian), but you might need to let people know because they will speak English on instinct to help you out :)

    Plenty of EU countries offer cutting edge educational plans and besides in many of them education is public (public as in funded by the government since i am not sure it means the same in the UK) which means that anyone with decent decent grades can apply and obtain an scholarship that will cover university fees and other expenses so its definitely something to bear in mind when studying abroad as it can become quite expensive.
