I have so many fond memories of listening to this before going to bed as a kid. I missed it dearly recently and hearing this again is really very endearing. Thank you for uploading this. RIP Peter Sallis.
When I was about 7-8. My young autistic brain enjoyed listening to this every night before I went to sleep. I’m now 29, sat on my own house, feeding my 1 year old Son as he listens to this with me.
This is amazing! It honestly feels like Wallace himself is telling me a story half way through a conversation with him. That’s how I hear it anyway. 😁 Also, I love how Wallace knows everything that happened on Gromit’s side of things! Like, how on Earth did Gromit tell him about it? Through notepads??! 😂😂😂
OH MY GOD I REMEMBER THIS!! It was there in my school class, everyone was on the computers or drawing, I picked up an audiotape recorder and saw this and I listened to it and it was awesome! I was 7 or 8 when it happened
What a brilliant story of the tribute to the memories of Peter Sallis form Bristol from the Aardman animations in the UK hero of Wallace and Gromit. 100% :) Childhood is so much fun for kids and the rest of the family.
*I can tell that Peter was quite new to Wallace and had only voiced him a handful of times at this point, I hear his accent poke through every now and then, but I think that adds a certain charm to it.*
His real accent, right? I've never heard Peter's real accent before, only the Wallace accent from watching the shorts on VHS as a kid so I'm having trouble telling the difference. But yes, this audio is a gem that I never knew existed since W & G is British and I assume the cassette was only available in the UK. I've never seen a copy of it in US before.
PETER SALLIS: IM AFRIAD YOU'LL HAVE TO TURN OVER. NO I DONT MEAN TURN OVER IN BED I MEAN TURN OVER TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CASSETTE. I LOVED IT ❤❤ WHEN PETER SILLIS SIAD THAT IT JUST BLEW ME AWAY.
If anyone hasn't noticed, they omitted the moment in The Wrong Trousers where Gromit ended up going through the breakfast process and got a faceful of jam!
That’s because Wallace wasn’t around to see that happen, since he was asleep… either that, or Gromit wanted his master to leave out that part from embarrassment.
@robbiewalker2831 Well, it was an accidental side effect of Feathers McGraw slamming the bedroom door shut after he marched the sleeping Wallace out...
@@G4m30v I realize that Wallace did bring up great detail of what Gromit had to deal with in A Close Shave, so it’s definitely omitted by Gromit’s request.

Well done, my fine lad. And by my fine lad I mean Chris Allen, who adapted the stories for cassette.

8:09 Interesting they have Wallace say "Lock the doors" here. Up until this point in the tape, the direct quotes from the film being recited have been pretty much one-to-one, so I have to wonder if when the script was written for this audiobook that whoever wrote the script misheard the film's original line "allotment doors" (referring to the doors forming the floor of the allotment in Wallace's backyard) as "lock the doors" (despite there being only one door to the rocket which is locked by-hand). Perhaps ironically I'M the one who has it backwards? I've never read the script for the original film after all.
it's not shown in the short films but Wallace has a substantial lexicon. You can only see this in the wrong trousers when he's looking at his bill's and calculating them saying "there's no use prevaricating about the bush" correct me if I'm wrong.
