She did a live talk right after the release, and said that the vocals were recorded in 2017 when she wrote the song and they are the first recording of them. She said that she loved the first recording so they called it done, and just kept it. But she said that she wasn't ready personally to release it then, but the virus got in the way so the shot this video during lock down, her and her two sisters made all the costumes in less than a week, the two dancers are her best friends that live nearby. She said the empty seats are because this isn't a show, it is how she feels, there is no one watch. Oh, and she plays harp so that is what you are hearing.
She also directed the video....all the costumes and set pieces were handmade by her and her team....she made the pearl headpiece herself after hand stripping every old pearl on various pieces of clothing.
@@geronimopacis OK! So people who actually try to collect information from her own live talks are misinformed. And you who doesn't give a shit knows it all. Makes sense.
No, the version from.the Current is much better! It's much more subtle, the words are easier to understand and you can really see her emotional investment as she sings the song.
An awesome fact about this song: Aurora recorded all of this in one take. These vocals are exactly as they were the first time she recorded it all in the studio. No retakes. She wanted to keep it as pure as possible. I think it makes this song all the more lovely and vulnerable.
If you wish to react to her live I recommend the whole performance at Nidarosdomen, especially It Happened Quiet. Also check out her other mv's like Queendom, The River, Running with the Wolves, The Seed and many more. Aurora delivers really strong messages! Thank you for your reactions!
IMO "It happened Quiet" from Nidarosdomen sound to me not relaxed and with some uncertainties, she probably felt the place too much. I consider the one of Live at The Current th-cam.com/video/9U-N6LqzdIM/w-d-xo.html her best version - ok it's a studio version, but there she perform very comfortable, much more than Nidarosdomen and this is perceived immediately. Every once and a while an artist comes along who is so far ahead of everyone else in terms of the art of music and makes music the art form that it should be,Aurora is one of those artists as a songwriter and you will find this as you listen to her original songs, they fill your mind with so many thoughts about life and make you think so deeply about the real things that matter in life, and you can tell strait away how genuine she is and has thought deeply about the subject matter she writes about, when you put that together with a voice that is from another planet wow! She recorded it in 2017 the voice and the guitar. They used the recording from 2017 and with her team and sisters, put the hole thing together on this time of quarantine! just love her voice and message.
It all connects! No wonder why Aurora's voice sounds a bit different in the song lol. I was like "Wow she's using her voice differently, we stan a multidimensional queen" 😂👀💀
Right after the release of the music she did a livestream singing live from her room that was awesome! But, she talked about the song and say that the entire song is from her DEMO VOCALS because she wanted to keep the feelings and imperfections from the first time, this is magical.
This was great! I discovered Aurora about a month ago and I am LOVING her music. I agree with you - Exist for Love had a retro '40's feel - sight and sounds, as well as visuals. You will find she is brilliant at visuals. Please review The Seed - for a completely different side of Aurora. Also Queendom, Animal, Gentle Earthquakes, The River, ... pretty much everything really - she is amazing. You are going to have so much fun going through your catalogue!

Yes! Finaly an Aurora original 😊 You should check out her EP Infections of a different kind Step 1. (Feels like an album in my opinion) and maybe follow up with her album A different kind of human Step 2.
This new single is HEAVENLY, but, it's nothing like her past music, so don't take it as a reference xDDD I think you should check A different kind of human, it happened quiet, Apple Tree, The seed, I went too far....I mean, all of her music is amazing so, pretty much, whatever you chose will be great xD
You should listen to Murder Song live at the Nobel Peace Prize concert. It's amazing. And the song Infections Of A Different Kind. And Black Water Lilies live at the Honda stage.
That’s why I love the lyrics, so much because Aurora put so much meaning, emotion, and empathy into writing lyrical songs. Writing lyrical songs are important to making a good song.
The visual idea is clearly the painting "The birth of Venus", by Italian renaissance painter Sandro Bottichelli - And why not ? There might be a tuch of renaissance in Aurora too :) The birth of Venus, the goddess of love, tok place in a giant scallop
Loved your musical analysis especially at 5:15 about the weaving in and out. That made me think of ocean waves which I think fits with the shells and the reference in the lyrics to the ocean. So glad you did the review!
What is interesting about this song, is that Aurora in a stream tell that the vocal and gitar is the first recording she did of it, together with Magnuson gitar, just as a demo. But she didnt want to replace neither of those because, as she said: music isnt about perfection, but about catching the emotions. And if you listen to her stream she performs the song live playing the piano, and she doesnt have the "perfect" internet connection, that it even makes the song better, sound like its recorded in the 30´s. All Soft Inside, Animal, Half The World Away, Runaway, Running With The Wolves, The Seed, River, Lucky, In Boxes, Warrior, Winter Bird, and So Many More Songs to Explore For Her.. I LOVE AURORA ❤❤❤
I love all of Auroras songs, but this is not my favourite, but I do like it :) Thank you for all your Aurora reactions, have watched through all of them, and as you stated in your video, the staging of Auroras videoes, especially her Music Video's is thoughtful and wonderful, and often very meaningful. Like in this 40' type of "burlesque", where the opening is inspired by of the world famous picture of botticelli's "The Birth of Venus" (the godess of love). She in an empty theater, with empty seats, cause it was made during covid19, and she made it "cause the world needed a little bit of love right now," she said in an interview. You should react to her Music video "the seed" the bass drop in that song, you can feel it in your stomach, if you use good headphones:) and its such an uplifting and call to arms type of song with hope and inspiration :) here is a link to it :) th-cam.com/video/_Mc_OM5oNA8/w-d-xo.html or this acapella version of her song "through the eyes of a child" link here :th-cam.com/video/CFzExUN1N8I/w-d-xo.html These are my favourite Aurora songs, and her song daydreamer is uplifting and great too!! I am so appreciative of your insights. As a musician your input is very insightful. It's nice to hear someone pick out the little undercurrents and brilliant quiet points that make the song but don't sit in the front. Well played!
Hi Nina. Great reaction! She has a wonderful acoustic set from a few years ago at "NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert". 3 songs with just her and her male guitarist/backup singer in some kind of library setting. It`s great and her voice, expressiveness, and presence are so endearing and adorable. Even if you don't react to it it's a must-watch.
Make sure to listen to the whole of Infections of a Different Kind (Step 1), it is one of the most stunning albums, and every track is so well thought through!
If you haven't already, you should listen to "It Happened Quiet" live from Nidarosdomen. Nidarosdomen is a very old (and very large) church in her native Norway. She's backed by an orchestra and it's a full concert, but this particular one is the highlight (for me and many others) Extremey powerful, fantastically beautiful, entrancing. If you do listen to it, please try to use headphones or proper speakers, and recap at the end instead of pausing all the time!
Nina, I appreciate that your reactions are more of music production reactions. It sets you apart a bit, and it makes us as viewers reflect on the whole in a way someone talking about the placement of the larynx won’t be able to let us do.
This song gives me continuous chills. She said this is her first love song and you can really tell that she knows exactly how to translate emotion into music.
Since you enjoyed her so much, might I recommend Caroline Polachek. Her debut album, PANG, which came out a few months ago, is a vocal masterclass. Perfection.
when you said you want to listen with headphones on with your eyes shut, i felt that. thats exactly what ive been doing. honestly makes me quite emotional to listen to this song since this is her first about love i think so. it just gives you that feeling inside, cant really explain it. i also have my bluetooth speaker on in the shower and just sing and go to another place with my eyes shut when i hear this song. legit 10/10 beautiful
I really would like u to react to Forgotten Love. The most interesting part of this song is that she sings in her own imaginary language. There's no meaning on those words literally, but emotionally depending how she does it. Im in love with that song.
Yes, this has a retro aspect to it (and definitely references the Botticelli painting, as well as 1930's/40's performances). A very infectious arrangement. In some ways different from her other songs, but nevertheless very Aurora-esque (I find it playing in my mind). I recommend reacting to some of her live performances -- 'The Seed' live at the HAIK Concert (performed in a forest); or perhaps 'It Happened Quiet,' 'Little Boy in the Grass,' or 'Through the Eyes of a Child' at her Christmas concert in a Cathedral (with her band, plus orchestral ensemble and chorus).
Blend if old and new.... Yes this song hit me like that and it was mesmerising, like Golden Age of Cinema type with indie folk and almost Chinese folk in some parts,... this song is just mesmerisingly weird and Good, its my first Aurora song and now im in love
Other worldly.. She's a Goddess.. Her Album "All my demons greeting me as a friend" with 12 songs Defines her.. Check them out too.. She's done that at the age of 11..
Wonderful video! ❤️ Aurora is great to watch live as well - for example Nidarosdomen live performance with many of her songs 😊 My favourite song is Apple Tree.
The arrangement sounds like the 50s mixed with the Doves (specifically, "M62 Song", "Friday's Dust") and 90s new age with a touch of contemporary flair. Have to appreciate that simple but effective bass too
Wonderful reaction to a magnificent artist, to me those musical harmonies are wawes of water and the sounds of deep oceans. I look very much foreward to her further exploring and communicating the Element of Water to us mortals, at least I hope thats what she`s doing.
Subscribed. Listen first to Acoustic "5,4,3,2,1 Murder Song". It will be a wonderful juxtaposition for you comming off of this particular song. She has 3 albums out so far and all are simply sublime. Please take your time with her first album "All My Demons Greeting Me As Friends" and move onto her others. She is an absolute faerie goddess that we don't deserve and are blessed to have.
Hi Nina! I love your reactions and Aurora is an amazing singer, songwriter and producer...i would recommend murder song at nobel peace prize, the seed haik concert, across the universe(beatles cover), teardrop (massive attack cover)...just dive in all her art...you'll not regret it. Hugs!
Thanks for a good reaction. She is by far my fav artist. With Aurora you get the whole package. With a voice like no other and a personality to match. Just a joy to watch. And to think that the audio they used in the video is the first demo recording. She didnt want a "polished" studio version but rather this one. A more raw version. With flaws and all. Although what she means by flaws I really dont know, lol. Its so different from anything else she have made but the Aurora DNA is all over it. I just happend by you-tube at the exact moment it was released and I could't stop listening and watching that night. I tell you, it was heaven. Sitting in a comfy chair and a bottle of good wine with this? An evening well spent I can tell you that. Thank you. Love from Norway. (Yes, we are very proud of our girl :)
I recommend 'Queendom (official)' as next reaction. So much passion, emotion and beauty with deep lyrical meaning. Aurora is so versatile, unique and expressive.
Aaaaand, the vocal track is her original demo track from 2017 when she wrote the song and recorded the demo. So it's new/old. She did a live stream (also on TH-cam) when the video dropped where she explained about the song, the video production - and also played the song for us on her piano. She said that the energy of her intent in the song was best on the demo track, so she did not re-record it for the video. I thought the roaring '20s production vibe was so playful and delightful.
Im not sure if you agree, but Aurora reminds me of a all time favourite fra the 70/80ties Sally Oldfield. My suggestion for a new Aurora song to react to if The seed or Through the eyes of a child.
Hi, I'm new to all this but I just fell in love with Aurora's music recently - it's magical. I just subscribed to your channel because of it and I love that you're talking about musical arrangements. Can you also react to Angelina Jordan "A Song For A" music written for Angelina by famous Russia composer -it's beautiful!
Thank you so much for the detailed descriptions of what was going on, it helped me a lot to listen more intently for the technicalities that make one feel those emotions apart from just the words... For example after you mentioned, I just realized how the base sometimes sounds like a beating heart, and it recreates a more visceral experience of those first moments of falling in love with somebody and the sensations that come with it... I don't know if it's something you'd be interested in or think is appropriate in your professional vocal analysis, but something that I wished would be touched on a bit more was the subject matter itself and how it's dealt with lyrically ... highlighting how the form is or isn't complementing the content... Please react to her other songs as well... like 'the seed' or 'daydreamers' ... they have interesting arrangements and compositions as well... to say the least!
It's funny, I wanted her on my soundtrack for my first feature film, The Watchman's Canoe. I discovered her in 2015. She is stunning. Love her voice. But, the song, Running with the wolves was the one that got me right in the heart. She is AMAZING! I watch and search TH-cam for songs for soundtracks for docs and narrative feature films.
Love your insights as always. Just some food for thought: I've watched a few reactions to this song and noticed so far, no one has mentioned the Aphrodite imagery, Goddess of Love.
She did a live talk right after the release, and said that the vocals were recorded in 2017 when she wrote the song and they are the first recording of them. She said that she loved the first recording so they called it done, and just kept it.
I have listened to this song over 500 times and everytime it gets better and better

Blend if old and new.... Yes this song hit me like that and it was mesmerising, like Golden Age of Cinema type with indie folk and almost Chinese folk in some parts,... this song is just mesmerisingly weird and Good, its my first Aurora song and now im in love
I honestly think this is her best song. I’ve been keeping up with her since her first album and even then, I think this is the best she’s done.
Other worldly.. She's a Goddess..
Her Album "All my demons greeting me as a friend" with 12 songs Defines her..
Check them out too..
She's done that at the age of 11..
My heart just can't. I love this song. Thx for the insight on it.
“It Happen Quiet” is probably my favorite song of hers
Anybody else get chills while watching AURORA's music videos?
Wonderful video! ❤️ Aurora is great to watch live as well - for example Nidarosdomen live performance with many of her songs 😊 My favourite song is Apple Tree.
The arrangement sounds like the 50s mixed with the Doves (specifically, "M62 Song", "Friday's Dust") and 90s new age with a touch of contemporary flair.
Have to appreciate that simple but effective bass too
I'm in love her voice.....Aurora Is fantastic
And tomorrow she'll Turn 24 Year..
I'm So Happy for her..
Thank youuuuu for the Aurora reactions💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
This whole song is a sirens call! Beautiful.
Hi Nina! I love your reactions and Aurora is an amazing singer, songwriter and producer...i would recommend murder song at nobel peace prize, the seed haik concert, across the universe(beatles cover), teardrop (massive attack cover)...just dive in all her art...you'll not regret it. Hugs!
This son is stunning
Please listen to Aurora and Wardruna performing "Helvegen", it is a Norse song and her heritage shines through. It gives me goosebumps!
yES AAAAAAAAAAAA
The live version of this is heavenly
You noticed so much things I’ve missed! Amazing I’m hooked *subscribes
Im not sure if you agree, but Aurora reminds me of a all time favourite fra the 70/80ties Sally Oldfield. My suggestion for a new Aurora song to react to if The seed or Through the eyes of a child.
i love that you used the word "Otherworldy" because that's precisely what Aurora is :)
Amazing reaction . Great job , Lady
I've been waiting for your reaction to this
I literally cried to this 😭
I loved your video! You should hear "Through the eyes of a child" (Live version) I love this song of Aurora
Ikr it has this 19's vibe thats why I like it
It's funny, I wanted her on my soundtrack for my first feature film, The Watchman's Canoe. I discovered her in 2015. She is stunning. Love her voice. But, the song, Running with the wolves was the one that got me right in the heart. She is AMAZING! I watch and search TH-cam for songs for soundtracks for docs and narrative feature films.
The drum is probably a cajón (drum box) that the band's percussionist often uses.
Love your insights as always. Just some food for thought: I've watched a few reactions to this song and noticed so far, no one has mentioned the Aphrodite imagery, Goddess of Love.
