Awesome video and stellar playing guys. That Sam had techniques bordering on the style of Eric Johnson. Really really clean and fast picking. I liked it alot.
Great reveiw - I wouldn't use it for profiling but as an amp simulator for recording, I would therefore purchase profiles as you have described. Just need some funds now!
I was able to play with one for a few days in my home studio. I have good mics, pre's & EQ's. The samples sounded pretty good. I have a good variety of amps & cabs. I spent a good 8 hrs sampling them. I own a Fractal, and it's not much of a contest. Fractal's amp models are better. More touch sensitive. The Fractal has the most incredible effects I have ever heard. I paid $2,150 for the Fractal, the Kemper is $1,975. The Fractal is update able and reliable. I preferred it to the Kemper.
Yo lads, greetings from America again!Of course, only if you've read any earlier posts would the whole"again"thing be relevant.Anyway, just wanted to say that this piece of gear is the cats meow for real. The Bogner profile you shredded at the start was awesome Rob.Keep the good times rollin dudes,as I know I love what you guys are doing.Rock on! Fran. Oh,and by the way...Sam C...impressive stuff bro, wow!
Wolf uses a Kemper on the road so he can go direct into the mixing desk and get the same sound every time. In fact, Metal record producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Evile, Dimmu Borgir) just bought 2 Kempers because of Wolf's set up!
GuitarGodsUnite Kemper sounds more buzzy and digital, this is true, but it's because you are not using it right, I had the same problem at first. It took some effort to get past that. Now it sounds very natural and no buzz, and my real amp is a Mesa Boogie so I have a good comparison.
galgogergo i went through the same thing, I was dissappointed but then I learned that in addition to the front tone knobs which are very limitting and for quick adjusting, there are parametric eq's and you can really taylor your tone with these much more and refine the sound for a great improvement. When I started tinkering with these eq's in the effects sections, wow, I was able to really improve tones. These eq's are separate and they are in the effects sections- i believe the middle set of buttons on top. try scrolling and you will find them. I have had marshall super leads and fenders, and currently have a Mesa Electradyne and a duel rec, and my tones from the kemp now rival these. Amazing once you unlock it's potential.
I think it's important to remember that most good Kemper patches (untweaked) -are of an Amp that has been Miked in a studio, not just an amp, so one should remember this when ab'ing with an actual amplifier. (that's why they sound different) Saving My pennies for this amazing little lunchbox of doom.
whats really neat lets say you have an amp and a load of pedals you can actually profile with say a nice reverb delay and phaser or whatever playing through your amp
Lee...obviously if you were going to use this live the type of cabinet you have might make a difference. Is there a good suggestion you could make for a cab that is reasonably priced and not too heavy that would be a good all around for getting the all the tones the Kemper can make out into the air or into the mic?
The ideal setup for live would be a FRFR speaker or direct to the PA since the kemper is already emulating the cab. You could turn off the cab in the kemper if you want to go through a guitar cab.
It's because he picks every single note in his runs. Many people (like Rob and other respected guitarists) use legato technique. I personally respect the pickers, and wish I hadn't focused on legato.
I had an Engl Fireball Stack, It only does one thing which it's really good at...... and even at that i sold mine. At least the Kemper gives you the option for more variety.
Edit:someone already named it further down in the comment section.J.S. Bach - Bourrée in e minor, BWV 996 to be specific.I didn't recognize it first, since you always hear everybody playing just the first part (you know, the Tenacious D classical piece-thingy). Sam starts from after the intro, effectively sounding badass by not playing something everybody knows but rather playing something widely unknown - while still playing something everyone knows, thus completing the musical mindfuck of win.
I had an axe FX II in my studio for a whole month, it has the same problems all the other modeling units have, it sounds good enough playing it by itself, but as soon as you put in a mix, it just never sits right, never mind trying to play with the thing live... The Kemper, quite frankly doesn't do any better of a job than a POD, actually in this demo there isn't one usable tone, not even by itself. I'm still hopeful one day we'll get there, so I don't have to crack amps to record, till then...
Damn that Sam kid can play :-) Ya gotta love The Pink Panther Theme song. I know when you get these "Professional" patches from people that really know how the Mic up a cab they sound fantastic, but what happened to they say you can just hook up a cable from the Kemper to the Amp you want profiles and profile them that way? You can always add the effects later right? I understand that there some special and rare pedals out there. BTW, what gauge were the "Telephone Wires" Rob? LOL Great video.

Well that depends on where you buy it from.. In some shops they change strings for some fresh D'Addario goodness before they send it to you... But in some shops they leave the old strings on... So I would recomend to restring with strings that you like... :-)
can you stick pedals in front of kemper? how does it handle a fuzz pedal in front of it?? for me, kemper seems like a really cool idea, but if for example a marshall profile sounds rubbish with a fuzz pedal running into it, then there's no point..
Line 6 HD 500 or Fractal Audio's Axe effects would be a better fit for most. And they come with damn near anything you could ever possibly need already built into them.
I reckon with all the patches around Kemper should make an amp just for patches, making it smaller, lighter, cheaper. If I could get these tones, I'd buy one.
I could listen to Sam playing for hours
Sam Coulson HOLY SHIT never heard this guy those pentatonic licks are insane !
I'd never heard him before, but Sam really did sound great. Inspired me to improve past my super beginner level of playing.
Cheers m8s.
Sam is a very great guitarist...
clicked on this video before the thumbnail had loaded, that's how excited I get when I see a new Chappers videos
Awesome video and stellar playing guys. That Sam had techniques bordering on the style of Eric Johnson. Really really clean and fast picking. I liked it alot.
Sam Coulson can play! Kudos to him for his clean fast picking technique ala Bonamassa.
You mean Eric Johnson.
You both mean Gilbert
arsenalfanrichi no, i mean the master Joe Bonamassa.
+Aaron M you mean lee Anderton
no i mean the current tone and chops master Joe Bonamassa.
you guys definetely have the best guitar reviews on the net. congrats
Nice Rollie Cap'n!
I'm digging these preset sounds on the Kemper. Sam is a total beast! I loved the Pink Panther bit he did!
the kemper is fucking amazing hands down best way to have a load of different amps in one box
Coulson kills that guit! I love how he can go from shred to classical in the flip of a switch!
Amazing piece of kit !!!!!
This is probably my favorite Anderton's video to date.
I really like hearing all of the different players.
Wow what a clean tone!
damn, I was about to go to bed but I have to watch every video you upload ASAP, it's like a drug :D
Nice vid & demos,great guitar players ;-)
Sam, I really enjoyed your Pink Panther run, and congrats for the Asia deal!
love that classical pieces on clean channel
The editing is hilarious guys! Fucking funny :D ... Big Thanks for your brillant videos !
I am so glad I exist in a world where there is Chappers and Cpt. Lee
Great reveiw - I wouldn't use it for profiling but as an amp simulator for recording, I would therefore purchase profiles as you have described.
Just need some funds now!
great playing SAM !!!
I thought it was just another solid state amp, but now I know it profiles your amps.
Finally y'all are demoing the higher end modelers.
I was able to play with one for a few days in my home studio. I have good mics, pre's & EQ's. The samples sounded pretty good. I have a good variety of amps & cabs. I totally get the need for you guys to push Chapman Guitars but, it could be nice to hear a demo like this with different guitars.
Muse's frontman has switched totally to Kempers in the live rig and his rig is pretty complex

Dam... where the fuck has Sam been?
that dudes amazing.
i agree holy moley.
That lead stuff towards the end was amazing
The Pink Panther theme was great. This guy is versatile.
That guy is a great player.
Good Lord, Sam. Could you be any any more of a Bad Ass? Respect.
+Adam McPherson Yea SC is a pure bad ass no doubt, check out Ben Wilshire too.
Well I guess we know now who spends all day in his room playing guitar! Nice!
Wolf uses a Kemper on the road so he can go direct into the mixing desk and get the same sound every time. In fact, Metal record producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Evile, Dimmu Borgir) just bought 2 Kempers because of Wolf's set up!
Can you guys please do a review of the Fractal Axe FX II. Thank you
For guitar tones, the Kemper rips on Ace FX2
Jackson blo Kemper sounds more buzzy and digital in my opinion
GuitarGodsUnite

thanks, GG

Bouree in E Minor for the win. Well executed Sam!
The Axe FX is not on sale at Andertons (or virtually any retail store in Europe).
heads on special offer for 540, you dont need the laney cab, run it though a marshall or a behringer, might not get the same sound but its still good.
Though I admit I am one of those Tube Amp purist/snobs, I must admit that today's digital and modeling technology sounds really great.
It's indeed quite sick!!
Rabea is a really tight player! can hear every note!
I found one of these in a skip, I wasn't sure what it was at the time, but finding your video on here, now I know why it was in the skip.
Haha I chuckled at this!
I somehow thought that Sam was just a blues guy; I now have gained much respect for his versatility. Good job, Sam.
Thanks mate.
Sam made Rabea seem like a mere mortal
I was thinking exactly the opposite.
Lennart N Bea's too hench. #henchAF

Im glad chappers threw a pic at the end not that Les Paul =] Great demo of the new sounds and profiles =]
Can someone please help me figure out the song starting at 11:24? I've been trying to find it for months...
Thats the theme of the A team
Thank you so much.
starwars2078 no problem man:)
Cool! How much for the Victory Amps "Red Dwarf" profile? 2$? Or would you rather want me to buy the actual amp instead of the profile? Cheers

8:17 I forgot the name of that song. If anyone can let me know that would be greatly appreciated!
Darude - Sandstorm
gingerleyham
Actually, your comment helped me remember its name :p. So I mean, thanks?
It's because he picks every single note in his runs. Many people (like Rob and other respected guitarists) use legato technique. I personally respect the pickers, and wish I hadn't focused on legato.
Hey what about Clean Jazz Sounds, Bebob etc.
I had an Engl Fireball Stack, It only does one thing which it's really good at...... and even at that i sold mine. At least the Kemper gives you the option for more variety.
Sam is a smoking hot player! Good on Rob for giving him air time very well deserved, and of course Bea riffs like crazy.
THANK YOU

Darude - Sandstorm

Amit Zangi That's Bach's Bourreé in E minor sir

Are these the profiles from the free Amp Factory pack or the pay-for bundles?
A-Team -> 11:25 :)
Wish you played the whole song! I love it! :)
what's it being played through? how do you turn the cabs off? isn't the whole rig, amp and cab profiled at the same time?
G66 is _not_ a retail store, it's the European direct (and only) distributor.
Loved the Pink Panther part :D
Damn that Sam kid can play :-) Ya gotta love The Pink Panther Theme song. wooow, what is that first profile? and where do i buy it?
I watched that movie in the cinema - great movie
that Charvel sam has looks interesting what mods has it had?
Niiiiiiiice :-) Does Kemper make the profiler as a standalone and power amp?Do you prefer this unit or the rackmount?
+John Mills Yes kemper makes the profiler without a power amp
profiled 5150 III, almost 1:1
im sticking with it since it is much easier to carry it around lol
holy shit.. listen to this vid through Hi-Fi with Sub, focking awesome tones and playing!!!! uber uber impressed!!!!!!!!!
I reckon with all the patches around Kemper should make an amp just for patches, making it smaller, lighter, cheaper. If I could get these tones, I'd buy one.
You guys ever gonna review an Axe FX?
That new Dorje riff that Rabea played is DIRTEH!
