It's amazing how far Cadillac has come. I remember the infamous Cimmaron and Allante and when the brand was in deep trouble. However, when they started the V series and got serious about racing, their fortunes changed for the better . I appreciate the review, Other than Motorweek, I haven't seen many reviewers do these cars.
I am proud to own a 2018 CTS V and would never trade it for the 5V series that hatchback look is just not for me. 640HP 630FT LBS torque. Just wish it was a manual. V forever

The CTS-V has been a dream car of mine for quite a while now. I agree with you on virtually all your points, I have not sat in or driven one but I have sat in the regular CTS and that gloss black bothers me too. I will never afford one but that’s why it is a DREAM car and not in my driveway. I agree the person who traded it in should have either gotten a regular CTS or went with the ATS-V if they didn’t want all that power. I have heard that they will make a higher power CT5-V down the road, not sure 🤔 when.
As you know I'm from AUS brother and this Caddi is something else.. If you had one of those here you would be the center of attention... looks so gangster. Presidential.

I owned a G8 since they are pretty affordable. The GXP is really rare and has held its price amazing well over the years. Hard to find low mileage ones for under 25-30 grand

Yes I'd say it is. The CTS-V is a brutal machine. The current CT5-V is now concurrent with the old CTS-V Sport. But the CT5- Super V will be even more vicious than the CTS-V.
James Dyer Yess but realize your CTS-V Sport faster than the CT5-V. The CT5 is more efficiently engineered than the CTS. It may have less power but it has a 10-speed automatic transmission and AWD. Believe me, Cadillac knows what they’re doing. The CTS-V replacement will be brutal.
As someone who almost bought one, let me save anyone thinking about getting this car a headache. Go look at the endless pages on the technical service bulletin for this car. Get used to handing your keys over to the service department.
WOW!!! Can you give some examples of the issues they're having. I have 2011 V for about 5yrs. So far, no mechanical issues except my supercharger rattle which was repaired under GM's warranty.
I have had zero issues with my V. 2011. Still looks like a 2020 model. And drives like one as well. Going on 4 years, and she still does magic. Coupe all black everything.

The CTS-V is a different animal. Was much more expensive than the CT5 V even optioned. The CT5 driving dynamics might be better as it’s a new car/model. But obviously the CT5 is a slower car.
The CT5 and CT4 Vs are basically replacements equivalents for the V Sports. It was Ass Backwards for Cadillac to toy with the V and its earned heritage.
I've always wanted one of these but after having a daughter I've learned how important space is and I'd choose the track hawk for people that have a growing family

Yup and diesel option that what i would get currently i have a charger and a cadillac so biased here i just dont like small cars coupes. (corvette. Lambo, Ferrari ect.) I am going 4 2016 suburban 1500
Joe, I have to complement you on always laying down car guy law. There’s no such thing as too much supercharger sound or too much power from a factory car. I understand it’s impossible for bean counters and lawyers to not have a say and in the finished car product for a major auto manufacturer but they sure can muck up a perfect performance car.

Raiti - the CUE in 2017 and newer CTS’, like the example in this model, is the newer system. In fact, I think it’s the same system in the new CT5 and CT4s (I could be wrong about them being the same...either way, it’s not the same as the original, much maligned system).
I have read from couple articles that the LT4 might make a return on the CT5-V (V8) and it might come with a manual gear box which makes it better. I know it was slacking in the V3 model, but glad someone in Cadillac opened their eyes.

It's not as bad as Mercedes. GM dropped the ball on their products from 2014-2019. V2 isn't bad at all. Hopefully they can make a u-turn soon.
