      The fact that in the hybrid era Alonso (the most talented driver of the last 15 years) has zero wins and garbage like Bottas has 10 shows just how dominant that team has been for the last 8 seasons. I think Keke Rosberg could have replaced his son in 2017 and racked up those 10 wins that Bottas has, if not more.

    • @handsolo1209
      @handsolo1209 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@elliotcrossan6290 Absolute bullshit. Jim Clark won F1, F2, Indy 500, Tasman Series and BTCC all in ONE season. Alonso has 2 WDCs and is unlucky not to have 3 more. He was stabbed in the back by Hamilton & Dennis in 2007 and was still only 1 point off the title. In 2010 Ferrari messed up the pit call in the last race and in 2012 Grosjean's idiocy at Spa cost him a WDC. The guy has won Le Mans, Daytona 24hrs, the WEC title and only a shitty Honda engine blowing up near the end of the Indy 500 robbed him of winning that race. A guy who wins in multiple disciplines is better than someone who only wins at one IMO. Hamilton fluked a title in 2008 due to a bad pit stop for Massa at Singapore and then had a car that was regularly 0.750 to 2 seconds faster than EVERY other team's car for 8 seasons. When he had actually competitive teammates it was always nip & tuck and he was beaten as often as he beat them (Alonso, Button & Rosberg). It is only when he had garbage like Bottas as a teammate to allow him to coast to championships that were done halfway through the season that he padded all of his stats. The guy in a normal era would probably have ended his career with 3 or 4 WDCs. It is 90% THAT car that has given him 6 WDCs and all of those poles and race wins. Is he a top level driver and one of the all time greats? Yes! Is he the greatest of all time? No chance. I'll take Fangio's 5 WDCs in death trap cars on death trap circuits ahead of a dominant car for 8 years with a chump for a teammate and no other car even getting close except for ONE season. I'll take Jim Clark, acknowledged by almost everybody with any interest in motorsports as THE greatest racing driver of all time. I'll take Jackie Stewart seeing friends and teammates killed and racing on the old Nurburgring and getting 3 WDCS over anything from the shitty DRS era. I'll take Lauda almost burning to death and coming back at the NEXT race as far greater than cruising around in a vastly dominant car with BotASS in the other car.
      You should never try to compare eras as they all had vastly different challenges. If Fangio had 21 races per season instead of 6 he would have 150+ wins. If Senna had lived and had the 1995,96 and 97 Williams, he would have 3 more WDCs and at least 35 more wins and poles. There is no GOAT, just a pantheon of the GOATS where Hamitlon does belong, but he ain't the greatest when compared with the guys of yesteryear who faced death every time they got in the car for a lot less money and fame than they get today.

    • @handsolo1209

      @@Ibol406 For the level of that car he is garbage. It is not a stretch to say that Ricciardo, Leclerc or Verstappen would have won a WDC in that car if they had 5 seasons in it. The fact that he averaged 2 race wins per season in that car suggests he was only there because of his low level and to give Hamilton some easy wins and WDCs with zero threat of a Rosberg situation. The car was that much faster than every other car that even when he finished 45 seconds behind his teammate he was almost always on the podium. Be 45 seconds behind your teammate in a Williams or a Haas and see is you are not called garbage.
