I play with max primitives on so when it when it first came out, I got the beholder every game for like at least three games . I didn’t even realise it was uncommon until I looked it up.

I found the Beholder very early into a spiritualistic fanatic purifiers game. With it at the head of my navy I was able to conquer a solid fourth of the galaxy very early in the game by hard focussing ships with anti armor capabilities. Once I started snowballing I settled him onto my home world and got psionics early as well and put him on my council. I wanted to turn it into my ruler but it wasn't possible as I was imperial. I had no idea it was as rare as it was.
Caretaker, you did your duty well. Allow us to take up your charge, and bring your people to their long awaited home. *Terraforms 'target planet' into Gaia World, and buries all drop pod occupants on its soil*
Weird. In my last 5 playthroughs, I've seen the Caretaker in 4, Mercedes Romero 3 times, Keides in the 2 most recent (one was a devouring swarm, so we ate him or something), and I've had a chance at Oakenstalk in every single one, I just didn't wait until I had genetics in all but one. The only one I haven't had is the beholder, though I've had potential access to the necessary events at least once I think.

i had caretaker in my last playthough.. the baol honestly seems common, as long as you get the rift you can garentee aquiring him (if you're not machine anyway..) never seen the others. closest i got was getting part of the relic but it never continued for w/e reason
I think you either need to have some technologies or certain ethics to get him, I don't know exactly, but I remember I didn't have an option to modify baol to get Oakenstalk on some playthroughs

@@darcraven01 I'm on a playthrough of rogue servitors and got him so it might be that you need some gene modification tech to get him (although I play with mods so there might be some weird interaction there).
@@BetonKundySlap i think i'm going to run some tests. i'll do some games (with AI turned off so they dont take the rift). one will be with a normal biological empire researching everything (this is the control run), one will be a test about avoiding everything related to genetic modification, one will avoid anything related to cybernetic modifications (if either of those fail than i wont need the next one) one avoiding both. then i'll do the same tests but with a hive mind. then i'll test non-gestalt machines. iive alrwady come across it with gestalt machines and had an entirely seperate option than the normal three (i forget what it was cuz it sucked. lol). might take a while (as im getting ready to move) but i'll try to post my findings here when complete (if i remember.. maybe ping this comment in a month or two if i havent posted anything yet. lol) (alternatively you can run the tests yourself if you dont wanna wait on me. i planned to use the riftworld origin to rush rift tech and toggle off AI in the console commands so they didnt get in the way. maybe rush tech as needed, spawn fleets, and w/e else as needed just to rush things.. no mods though)
I got caretaker on my 3rd run like 30 years into the game while I was listening to your reading of the murder AI turned ancient caretaker where they cooperated with an AI race that looked like the caretaker in game. Pretty lucky I found both the amazing video and a rare paragon.
Some of those can be "more easily" found by playing in certain ways or with certain settings. Since Dugar always have about a 1/4th chance of spawning, playing on tiny or small galaxies with fewer empires and aggressively searching after Dugar, usually allows for a very easy time to get Keides. Alternatively, Slingshot to the Stars is a semi-viable option for larger galaxies to also allow for extensive searching after Dugar. As only the first empire who enters Dugar can get Keides, you can do some very strange no survey just explore to aggressively search it out Or for example, having a major ton of primitives is very helpful in finding the Beholder, and vice versa - not having a lot of them will make it extremely rare. So for finding it, turning the primitives up is usually very helpful, which in turn, ofc, requires you to turn up habitable planets. I personally play 0.25x habitable planets and 1x primitives, so Beholder is never gonna show up for me, arguably, it would be fun one day to seek them out, but my computer lags too much

Wait, the monolith is rare? I found it on my first ever playthrough with galactic paragons, I think I might still have the save Edit: opened an old modded save (without mods enabled so it might be a bit messed up from here on out), and there it was, just chilling in space.
i did one, but then, well, a coalission bigger than mine attacked me and well, just say will deal with it next day, and it continued to be unplayed until a next up date where i forgot it

I've gotten all those paragons. Honestly Oakenstalk isn't even rare. I get the boal astral rift in two of every three games I play. I've only had the beholder once but for some reason I don't remember I didn't continue that game for long so I never really had the change to use it. I didn't realize how rare it was at the time.
Beholder is event from pre ftl monolith that's why it's so rare, first there is need to be pre ftl planet, second is the planet of such pte ftl must not be a nuked or relic world, third such pre ftl Civilization should've of Spiritual ethic and the last is such pre ftl when the science ship scan the planet must not be of machine, steam or modern era.
So many games played and found only Keides. So many times that his quest became boring for me I'm just unlucky with rare events. I've had more than 100 games and only recently found an Event Horison

When I take Under One Rule and get Keides I like to think that its the Luminary who raises Keides as an adoptive parent

I have been playing for so long but have never been able to get the Gaia world creating one.
She is the most common of the legendary ones funnily enough. X% chance to spawn every 5 years iirc

I've actually seen the beholder a few times. Unfortunately, I only got to recruit it once. It is possible to fail to recruit it, even if you find it.

The Red king: the beholder is the rarest paragon and most of you will never meet it.

Got him in my past 3 games in a huge galaxy. Just increase pre FTL societies in your galaxy and focus on exploration.

Got the beholder, but my soecies was already psionic so it was a bit of a waste. Playing with gigas too so fleet couldnt do much.
