Very nice work checking the noise for this preamp at surgeon level of details :P, hmm I'm thinking clearly today DAC should not makes a big difference (if it is it should not well) with a neutral op-amp, so the game will be played on acoustic treatments, preamp, amplifier stage, and speakers stage, most probably 90% of the time a preamp will bring more bad effects to our journey to listen sound truthfully, nevertheless gear like Freya+ which can switch between active/passive/tube mode is rare, only thing I don't like is the clicking sound when changing volume, I know Khozmos passive peramp has similar design with example active stage Staccato op-amp, but it's not cheap though, and the craftsmanship is great. For now, I only can achieve zero noise while keep distortion, details, transparency under control with SMLS C100 DAC/preamp + boXem Arthur 4215/E2 power amp, no other way yet.
@@ChicagoRob2 good to hear, I need a preamp for a 90s pcm63p-k dac and a tube 845 amp, can you use the remote in a passive setting? if you can, how would you describe the sound?
@@fredericchopin7499 The sound is transparent, smooth, and detailed. The relay volume control, alone, is worth the price of admission. Dynamics are very good, especially in gain mode.
Horizon CV181 - YES, I like it! X 2
7:13 JJ 6SN7 - Good sound but nothing special
8:07 Horizon CV181 - YES, I like it!
I liked the Psvane CV181-T MkII, but I still preferred Linlai E-6SN7 in my Freya+
Thanks for the review. What socket saver brand did you use in the Freya plus

Maybe I missed it, but did you compare these to the Apos Ray you reviewed a few months ago?
will you review the new saga 2?
I have one driving an OG Aegir. Ridiculous performance for the money.
