I was born in 1961. Me and my dad were camera nuts. We took photos of So. California mostly. The whole family took a "family vacation" road trip to the deep south, florida, eastern seaboard, niagra. on another year we went up to washington state and that area, and up to vancouver and victoria. I still remember the 1960's and 70's. Turbulent times, but there were good times as well. Thanks for doing these photo compilations. It is important that people know the past and how far we've progressed or regressed in many ways.
I love all of this, especially Catalina Island, the Farmers market, and the red Porsche 914 at 5:00. Thanks for letting me know I hadn't imagined it all!
The kids sitting on the beach in Catalina...I remember those sling back "chairs" for the beach! I was just thinking about them recently, LOL. Those were great! Los Angeles doesn't look like that anymore! Pity.
"Thank you!" for the slide production (I enjoyed the "Soft Jazz" and the views of LA in the 70"s!). Wishing for you and all, enduring: wellness, security, and happiness! Take care and enjoy! :)
That was the good ol days when we had no cell phones when everyone would enjoy a breath of fresh air of every second of the day and now people waste away there precious time and productive time on a cell phone. So sad how the world has changed. I wish cell phones were never invented and you would see the teen kids playing in the street and riding there bikes around rather than seeing empty streets and everyone hiding in hibernation on there phones. The people stuck on there phones will never have any good stories to tell once they age and get old.
Nice quality photography. I was a freshman at UCLA. The Bank of Amerca / Arco towers were being built in 1972. Unusual smog free skies! Great just for the cars.
the great white steamship to avalon was the funnest--my aunt/uncle had a hotel in Avalon--we had a plane we flew out of Compton but the drive down to town was a pain so we just took the big white steamer--it was way funner for us kids--we were going there from the 50s to early 60s--
Fabulous jazz, wonderful pics of LA, you're an artist! Thank you, this is lovely! A thrill.
