She-hulk in the show: Doesn't understand why Thor and Dr Strange never had a problem copywriting their names and had to have it explained to her that Thor and Strange "are" their real names. Why are they writing her as being terrible at her job?

I do kinda wish you'd gone more into how insanely and dramatically they changed Pug's characterization, but that REALLY stood out to me. In the first episode he was in it was just a quick little bit, almost cameo-length, obviously just to introduce him. In the next episode, however, he was the B plot and started to establish himself as a largely professional and competent lawyer, way more competent than Jen I might add. Yet in this episode, for literally no reason, he is suddenly 100% dude-bro right from the very beginning as though he's always been this way, with the intelligence of a goldfish. He was never shown this way before, not even hinted at it, and now all of a sudden we have a character who, last we saw was a relatively normal person, is suddenly a complete caricature that, like Jen's former DA colleague, should NEVER even be a lawyer in the first place he's so colossally stupid.
I think after they wrote episode 3 the women writers of this show realized: Oh shit, Pug is actually a way better lawyer than Jen. We can't have that, so they decided to effectively lobotomize him for episode 5 (and presumably moving forward). It's such a freaking insult to the audience and just a textbook example of how the show is trying to do everything they can to bash on men any chance they get.

    • @nvfury13

to be fair, Pug (i figured he was homosexual) and her dad are the ONLY two guys (up til now) who the show portrayed with ANY redeeming qualities. Even cousin hulk looked like an overbearing, mansplaining snowflake and sore loser. Nevermind that he was right all along about how being a hulk is a complete lifestyle change
even worse is that any time any guy points out how this show is so intentional in depreciating men that it comes off as bullying, fake geeks and bandwagon fans explode with namecalling and accusations as if that ends all argument. Pointing out that complaints are coming from "a white guy" doesn't INVALIDATE them but that's how these flame wars are going online and in media. If a boy doesn't like the show, you must be a virgin incel. If you're a girl who doesn't like the show, you clearly have internalized misogyny and must stfu as well...

I mean, first time we see him, he's coming in all welcomingly submissive with a basket (nice gesture) and immediately talking about shitting... I don't think hey ever really intended for him to have much character, and that part where he does his own case and is semi competent may have been some dumb luck or error on the writers' part. • @jamesneese7663

the worst part by far is that Jennifer "won" the case based on a dating profile and testimony from guys she slept (or nearly slept) with. That is NOT how the law works. EVERY comic fan is familiar with the Captain Marvel wtf in comics where Marvel copyrighted the Captain Marvel name first and got to keep it because....they got there first. Nevermind that Shazam was clearly the senior of the two characters. And that was that. Highly paid lawyers couldn't undo the damage.
but thankfully these writers never studied law so no problem, right? But the big issue is that for a "comedy" this is written ONLY to laugh WITH Jennifer, never AT Jennifer. The feminist snowflake writers have no problems in making men the butt of every joke and stereotype but REFUSE to ever "degrade" or "devalue" a woman, even when she deserves it. Even Titania is treated as a mostly harmless charlatan compared to how evilly misogynistic Jennifer's lawyer colleague was last episode. Goes to show how women love to GIVE jokes (that are often cruel) but can't take any jokes. You know Hannah Gatsby syndrome.

it really is amazing how many great female heroes we have throughout fictional works. it all bboils down to how well the author can tell a good story and flesh out a good character. your list of examples was spot on. i can think of more, too. most of mine are video game characters, but thats because video games are kind my thing instead of movies. regardless, if i may speak for myself, I could give two shits less what the hero or vilain identifies as, as long as i can believe they are a realistic person. have a nice Sunday everyone.

Yeah this always seems to pop up. It can't be maybe someone doesn't like superheroes, the film/show was poorly written. Show might be middle of the road or one of these shows where you like it or hate it. It always seems to go towards the worst thing possible. Putting all the blame on the viewer and none on the writer. When all that effort could of been used to improve the show, if they hate negative feed back that much. For I don't get what they think is going to happen. They put out a poorly made story. It like no matter how many times they try to turn everyone into fanboys. It never works, just leads to the same feed back loop.
For Heck, Ultraman Geed, has Laiha Toba. Who does alot of things in helping the main character. Keeping him on track and focus. Along with ensuring he does training, to keep in fighting shape. Along with the story making sure she gets a proper ending related to her own personal conflict. Removing her from the story, would greatly effect it, in a negative way. For what these hollywood types don't seem to get is. People are used to much better written female characters. Unless you go all men in black and wipe their memory. Passing trash off as gold doesn't work, for most are well aware of the difference between the two. For book series out there exist, where elves, orcs and dwarves are the main characters. You can get people to related to many things, if you back it up with good writing. For without good writing, it just becomes pointless.

I had the same problem I had when Hollywood executives turned Galactus into a cloud in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer that I had when Scarlett Johansson was cast as a Japanese character from Ghost in the Shell. Or when Ben Affleck was cast as Antonia Joseph Mendez in the movie Argo. Or when Emma Stone was cast to portray a Hawaiian and Chinese woman known as Allison Ng or when Maria in West Side Story was portrayed by Natalie Wood, who is of Russian descent. Eben Oleson in 30 Days of Nights is portrayed by Josh Hartnett and changed the character’s last name in order to not raise eyebrows. The movie is based off of the comic book and the character is supposed to be of Inuit descent. The point is that the Incredible Hulk is not made of pink goo. The Black Panther is not a Chinese trans boy that fights against vacuum cleaners in the hope a giant green woman will represent him in court to dispute a property disagreement. Characters and story mean something.
If you want to represent diversity, then use an old story from that cultures’ long history of characters and bring them to the big screen and honor THEM.
If audiences don’t like your vision, then try again. This constant race swapping of characters of already established cultural characters isn’t helping to bring us together. Calling everyone who doesn’t like something names, isn’t helping bring us together. I’m as on the left as someone can be, but I’ve been called an incel, racist, misogynist, by my so-called side, for far too long. If you can’t understand this, then f off. Frankly, I can’t stand anyone with Ds or Rs by their name anymore.

If you go into a grocery store, you can find all sorts of Dove products. There's Dove Chocolates, Dove Ice Cream, Dove bars ... also Dove Shampoo, Dove Bodywash, Dove Soap, and Dove Lotion.
In both cases, "Dove" is Trademarked. The Confectionary "Dove" belongs to Mars - Wrigley, while the hygiene "Dove" belongs to Unilever LLC. How can these two sets of "Dove" products exist in one supermarket? Because THEY DON'T COMPETE WITH ONE ANOTHER. Trademark infringement requires, among other things, that you are creating a competitive product. Because "She-Hulk" legal services in no way competes with Titania's cosmetic line, there is no basis to Titania's lawsuit.
OTOH: if there's *anything* about Titania's marketing that suggests She-Hulk aka Jen Walters such as green lettering, heavy green trim, etc., then Jen has grounds for a Cease and Desist order.
In short: the whole trial concept is a giant pile of steaming pig manure ... which I can tell you stinks a heck of a lot more than BS.

Among the products included in this definition are skin moisturizers, perfumes, lipsticks, fingernail polishes, eye and facial makeup, cleansing shampoos, permanent waves, hair colors, and deodorants, as well as any substance intended for use as a component of a cosmetic product. It does not include soap. (To learn what products are considered "soap" for regulatory purposes, see "Soap."

They will throw race, color, misogyny, the old man-baby line and more which really don't address the issue but work to basically say if we don't like it we are terrible people. Disney approves of these fan attacks (or people who were once fans as I don't see many old-time Marvel fans lining up to watch this stuff) and refuse to even acknowledge why people don't like these shows. At the end of the day all shows like She-Hulk do is wreck what was once a great franchise and erode any sense of care people have with wanting to see more.

You know my ex used to gaslight me about why I broke up with him. He asked me why I broke up with him, I told him, he made up his own reason, and that’s the one he uses. Exactly what these people do. We tell them why we don’t like this stuff and then they make up their own reason and run with that.

Re: Copyright, actually if it could be confused for the original by an "average person" then yes, you can get in legal trouble. I was there when someone tried making T-shirts mocking the symbol for a National insurance brand. They hammered this guy even though his spoof art shirts were obviously different.

@@thoriasunlimited4053 Don't know. In this case it was Mutual of Omaha. Bear in mind this was at the end of the Cold War so death by Nuclear Bombardment was a current topic when SAC was just down the road. This guy made shirts saying Mutant of Omaha and copied their font and a Radiation Mutant version of the Indian on their Logo. I believe the legal case is online if you google it.

It's not uncommon for lawyers to be specialized an unaware about the particulars of other disciplines, it's why you don't hire a divorce lawyer to defend you for murder. That said, this is really basic copyright law that even non-lawyers know.

2:10 - Thorias, you may have forgotten Sarah Manning (played by the excellent Tatiana Maslany) and her clones from the TV series Orphan Black as another strong female character without a hint of gender political garbage crowbared into her characterisation. Big respect for the shout out of the Knight Sabra's and Akane Tsunemori from Psycho Pass 👍

Better idea: In order to get away from the She-Hulk name, Jen uses "Titania" at first for her doomed Tinder profile and later with her professional life. All goes well until Mary MacPherran trademarks the name, going so far as to further cement Walters as She-Hulk in a public cease-and-desist just to stick it to her.

I totally understand why Gao, the head writer for this show, was rejected three times by Marvel Studios. If this is her crown jewel, I suggest she find another profession or just stay the hell away from MCU. She wanted to write for Shang Chi but I'm glad she didn't. She could have single handedly ruin a good character. Instead, she is ruining She-Hulk weekly.

All of Jen's contracts with GLK&H would be using the name Jennifer Walters.
Jen is contracted to be in She-Hulk form, but that contract would be signed by Jennifer Walters, not She-Hulk.

As cool as the idea of her assistant being the one who hired the Wrecking Crew is, I’ve heard that Marvel is FINALLY following up on Samuels Sterns becoming the Leader in The Incredible Hulk and that he’s going to be the main villain of Captain America New World Order, so honestly, I would love for the Wrecking Crew’s boss to be revealed to be the Leader and have him try to get Jen’s blood to create a Hulk army. Anything other than Titania being revealed to be the one trying to get it.

And don't forget Demon Slayer. Kanao, Shinobu, Mitsuri, and Nesuko are amazing in their own rite. Hell Shinobu can't slice demons' heads off because of her small frame, but instead of complaining; she created her breathing style called Insect Breathing so she could slay demons. Even Mitsuri created her own breathing style so she created her own breathing style called Love Breathing because she sucked at Flame Breathing. These female characters stand on their own rite.

She Hulk is a comedy show about a superhero lawyer, except it isn't funny, doesn't feature any heroics, super or otherwise, and never makes any real use of the fact that the main character is a lawyer.

Her boss made her go after the She-Hulk name.
He hired She-Hulk to be the face of their law firms superhuman division.
Any unapproved uses of the name by outside companies could damage GLK&H's reputation.
Without Holliway's prompting, Jen would have been annoyed, but done nothing. (It's part of Jen's submissive personality, they were highlighting in this episode.)

You know, I just realized they pulled a Rey-Kylo with She-Hulk. From what I've heard, Titania is one of She-Hulk's archrivals. And yet, when Titania rolls into the show for the first time, they have She-Hulk destroy her like it's nothing.
