This is so good for revision! One thing I'd like to mention is at our uni they often implore us to explain the need to stand behind the patient for palpation of the neck and associated lymph nodes. They recommend we make sure the patient understands that, so that they don't get uncomfortable :)
In ghana we do the process reversely ...we start with the thyroid directly, to the face and end with the hands. This is to make sure, time doesn't run out during you exams without eliciting the most important skill
Inspection ( Hypo/Hyper signs ? ) Hands ( Dry, Paper-tremor test, sweat, pulse? ) Face ( Skin, sweat, hair.. ) Eyes ( lid retraction and Buldging, H movement? ) ( Lig lag up and down? ) Neck ( Skin scars mass ) ( Drink water ) ( Protrude tongue ) Palpate ( Thyroid LN Trachea ) Percus downwards for any dullness Ascultate ( Deep breath and hold ) Asses for reflexes Peritibial myxedema Stand up n cross your arms, prox myopathy hyper
Amazing video thanks😊 Btw in our uni we percuss the bones directly and we roll the lymphnodes against bony prominences to detect smaller ones also the scalp lymph nodes is important in case of thyroid malignancy
Hi guys Just to clarify Exophthalmos is when the whiteness of sclera is visible all around the iris. Proptosis is when the eye has protruded so far forward .
Great video as always. Wouldn't hurt to add Pemberton's test in a new version (Although a 3 minute test in an OSCE setting is rare) as well as palpating the carotid pulse for Berry's sign (Absence of carotid pulse). Lid lag finger movement was a bit slow in my opinion but not a big deal.

Hi guys
Just to clarify
Exophthalmos is when the whiteness of sclera is visible all around the iris.
Proptosis is when the eye has protruded so far forward .
Are you sure they aren't the same thing?
exophthalmos is use when the diagnosis of hyperthyroidism is confirmed while proptosis is a general term used for protuded eye
