jeans to skirt upcycle project | denim maxi skirt

Made my husband's pair of old falling apart jeans into a denim maxi skirt! This video isn't really a tutorial but just me talking you through the process of upcycling. What do you think?

Incredible job on this flip! I've always wanted to flip a pair of jeans into a maxi skirt, but not in a rush because I want to think about and choose a cut and style (including placement of slits) that I will love longterm 😊
We're quite similar Steph! I have a small waist, very long torso, and short legs lol 😄
I'm obsessed with denim- thrifting, fixing, and re-working denim is just EVERYTHING! I've received a few pairs of my husband's old worn out jeans, which are on standby in my stash.
You may already know this, but sharing in case you didn't- when sewing denim on a sewing machine or serger, try a size 110/18 needle. SERIOUSLY. They're like smooth as butter when sewing through denim.
I've been sewing as a hobby since I was 16 years old (a WHILE ago lol) and it wasn't until 2024 that I discovered the size 110/18 needles. REGRET is putting it lightly! The things I can do with denim now are like a hundred times better now than anything I ever attempted (and I was pretty good before!). I also used to despise hemming jeans, but it's a BREEZE now!
