    Audhd here, too! I get very frustrated with the times of each step in the sewing process. It takes forever. And the fabric moves way more than I thought, It doesn't stay put to be sewn, so I end up with crooked lines 😅 How do you organize the sewing steps? Do you get many half projects?

    Thanks Steph for a reminder that we have to take care of ourselves and be kind to ourselves. I’m a fairly recently unofficially dxed person with adhd. I’m older and because of the stigma I never dared to ask, why do I feel different. I’m also recently in menopause and I felt like I was losing it, (well I was losing it a bit). I like knowing that I have a reason why I act a certain way, that I’m just wired a bit different. It’s comforting to have a deeper understanding of myself.

    Is a French seam a really old technique? Like did they discover this in the 16th-17th century for all those crazy royal dresses at Versailles?

    Hi Steph, Thanks so much for this video. I hadn’t heard you mention previously that you had a diagnosis of autism and adhd. May I ask what originally prompted you to look for a diagnosis? I often wonder about myself. Also agree with you 100% on the medicine front. If it helps a person to feel like they are not worried about themselves - in whatever of the many ways that may show up - then it is a good thing for that person. ❤ Ps. Bullet lists rule my life, and I got one of the earring stands last year for Xmas 😅

    That's a real shame about the pattern - finished garment measurements are so important! Pattern Fantastique patterns are not for the short of patience or newbie crowd. I have been sewing for 35 years and OMG I get so frustrated with the construction flow of the garment and the lack of directions/information where you need it most vs where there is detail I find myself saying "This is where you chose to explain?". For example with the Vali dress, I was like what gives with the small facings? Why wouldn't you do a full enclosed smock? So I went my own way and did. I also didn't follow the flow of it at all because it wasn't sensible. These pants? I was absolutely inline with what you said here and I used the pieces, but made my entirely own process based on how I prefer to sew up pants. Are all her patterns beautiful when you get them made if you figure it out the size and have the right fabric? Yep, sure are. Is it worth the frustrations? Can't say that it is. I love the way yours look and think over time they will drape a bit more in a way that will slim them down. But you could take them in a bit.

      @WelcomeToSteph 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@WelcomeToSteph You're welcome. I thought I was losing my mind on the Vali and I found someone's video saying they were frustrated too. I love Nita-Jane ideas, the lines and silhouettes she is creating , but that her methodology isn't one that jives with me and that means it is upto me to fill in to my own style of get it made to get it done. If I didn't end up with garments I love I would have given up, but I think in the end they are worth it. I understand she has been a one-woman opp for a while with some very challenging life events up to now. So perhaps, she didn't have a lot of support or testers, for what she has out now, when it came to feedback. She said she is bringing on help/technical help and maybe with that addition it might mean directions on any new patterns (she mentioned this in an update email) will be more friendly for all?

    Absolutely love how they turned out!! I actually recently got myself the terra pants pattern and I'm glad to finally see someone on yt sew them up! Pattern Fantastique re-released the terra pants pattern a year ago or so and the newer version does seem to have the measurements you were looking for, but unfortunately they removed the welt pockets. 😢 Sorry to hear that you didn't quite like the look of them! I think to create something that reflects your inspo pics better it might be helpful to try a 'stiffer' fabric like a 5oz cotton poplin or cotton twill in general. Looking forward to seeing more of your makes! 😃

    The fabric is lovely. I am a non-standard body type (I'm a little teapot, short and stout), so have to adjust almost all patterns. When I get fabric that I really like I get mental paralysis about cutting because I get really anxious that I'll make something that doesn't fit or doesn't fit correctly. Fitting in the number one frustrating thing about home sewing. I spend time measuring self, analyzing finished measurements and measuring pattern pieces but still struggle in the end. A lot of fitting on the fly and altering happens. Lately I’ve been into oversized and self drafting so this issue is less of a problem. First of all, I LOVE the fabric color and pattern! I also love linen, but not for lower wear like pants, shorts or skirts as they wrinkle and stretch (loose the shape) while wearing. Linen is super flow-ie and some summery clothes look great with this fabric. Love the pleats on you with your flat abdomen but I think a side zipper would have accentuated and simplified the look better. If it turns out that you don’t like the pants at all, you might even lop them off into shorts and take the remaining fabric to make a cute matching summer crop top. Not a fail at all, everything is a learning experience for sure! Thanks for sticking it out so we can see the fruits of your labor! 👍👍👍

      @@WelcomeToSteph I know it! I'm just binging your content between times that you post videos because it's so nice. Especially the one where you made your graduation dress because I'm also panic finishing a bunch of projects. It's nice to not feel alone in that. 😅 I hope you're having a most wonderful month!

    'Vinnie's. We're the Tits!’ should be their new merch drop...

    I love your dress! I love your sharing of your thoughts and feelings. It seems that you have the designer gene - clothing, building, and videography! Great editing, beautiful film quality, and the finishing touches - the sound, the countdown clock - just all of it! This video should go viral.

      Oh thank you so much for this lovely comment. This video has reached many, many more people than I ever imagined so in my eyes I think it's gone viral (more than 250k is simply wild!!!)
