Sea Fishing UK | An Evening of Two Halves Fishing at Samphire Hoe, Kent

- It was a last minute, impromptu session down at Samphire Hoe near Dover as my first fishing trip back in the UK after my holiday to Fuerteventura. I headed here to meet Mark and hopefully get a few colourful Wrasse up the wall and catch a mixed bag of species but the trip didn't really go as we had planned. The fishing was slow to start and we struggled to get bites but after Mark managed to get a Pollock under the float our fortunes changed and we caught a good number of fish and had an enjoyable evenings fishing.

Cheers wayne👍 tbh the float was only going to be used if I got some live prawns but after Mark caught a Pollock really shallow I gave it a go and I'm glad I did👍

A decent session Greg those pollack make such good fishcakes as do the pouts mate and that ballan should as Mark said been live bait with a 6/0 through his bugle
I know, I know 🤦♂️ schoolboy error not bringing any live bait rigs. Next time I'll take a live bait float setup and try that way👍
i wanted to stop off here on my way back from dover , but didnt see the exit for the tunnel down ,,
It's less than a mile up the m20/a20 as you leave Dover towards Ashford. It's sign posted to samphire hoe
your dropnet was probably sitting on top of a bloody big rock off the bottom! keep moving until youfind a gap!!
I did think that but was convinced that the water movement would push it into any gap around it🤔🎣

Also with the amount of small pollack mate there must be a few sizable ones for the table try a jig down the wall

@@gsp oh damn 🤣🤣 that's worth a pop on a jig or spinner though however I've not fished that mark but looks like a drop net might be needed

Nice to see the colour variations on them pouting, I'm guessing it's the kelp they hide in, is the culprit to why they seem darker than usual?
Yeah the colours were awesome and all to do with their habitat. The dark they are the prettier they are🐠🐠

Going down there Sunday. What depth did you have your float set as?
Mine was at about 12ft but it all depends on depth of tides. 2/3rds the total depth. 👍

I'm shore fishing in Kent so any Pollock could be classed as decent because they're not prolific around the south east🤦♂️
