It is probable, although not certain, that Italy will be represented at the Olympics by Bolelli-Vavassori (this year finalists at the Australian Open)

Sinnego played incredibly well at the Davis cup against Serbia. They are actually making me like watching doubles for the first time. Sinner is incredible at the net and Sonego is dynamite all around.

Yep, No-ad Rule. Recievers choice on which side will be served.
Yes it varies between tournaments but a lot of doubles now has the deciding point at Deuce and I think the receiving team specify where they want to receive. Confuses the hell out of me 🤣
@@joannemoore3976 oh you reminded me! I played amateur events and a lot of them are AD-free(or deciding point) where the server chooses where to serve, I guess the doubles is the same

Back in the day (sorry to sound old), ALL the great singles players competed in doubles. When singles became so lucrative, the whole system changed and singles stars only played doubles in the Davis Cup and Olympics. Just think of the great teams of the 60s - 80s. Laver-Emerson, Newcombe-Roche, Smith-Lutz, Natase-Tiriac, of course McEnroe-Fleming and many others.
Happy to see all Italian greatness prevailing over russians.

I wouldn't be that certain about the Sinner vs Sonego duo. We'll find out when they play Granollers and Zeballos. Oh and btw, Rublev and Karen won Madrid (which is a Masters 1000) last year. Beating the very best at the time in the F (Bopanna and Ebden). They just had a horrendous day at the office, both of them!

I hoped, that this year WTA/ATP/ITF, would stop this nonsense of mixing sport with politics.
Every player should have right to play under her/his country's flag. One cannot choose the country of one's birth.
Appointing "flag police" at the AO 2023 was not even childish... it was embarrassing and insane...

Why during the invasion of Iraq, 20 year bombing of Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen and Pakistan not to mention the genocidal Vietnam war US, Australian, UK... athletes were allowed to compete under their national flag?
USA invaded Iraq in 2003 and yet their flag was still allowed at the World Cup 2006 in Germany and 2010 in South Africa despite the fact they were still in Iraq.
Either ban ALL flags of countries who go to war, or don't ban any of them.
Interestingly enough Israeli tennis players Mika Buchnik and Guy Sasson are allowed to play under the national flag in AO 2024 despite the policy of their government towards Palestinians in Gaza.

AO organisers and administrators and ATP/WTA bureaucrats dreaded that scenario.
Now with the fake smiles and insincere congratulatory speeches they have to hand over the prestigious trophies and... fat cheques to the Russian and Chinese players.

@@gablan1468 I believe the comment above is said in a joking manner. Although Sinner is a native Italian, he spent quite a lot of his youth in a German speaking part of the Alps. Hence, he may have been more fluent in German then.
