SLA (sealed lead-acid) and AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries have a different charge profile than a LiFePO4 (lithium iron-phosphate or "LFP") battery. The charger or chargeverter on your friend's RV is old enough that you can bet your last watt-hour it isn't designed to handle LFP batteries. You can verify this by checking the voltage coming out of the charger or chargeverter, when it's actively charging. It is very common for a charger designed for SLA or AGM to top out at 13.8 volts, and that is appropriate for those battery chemistries. An LFP battery should be charged at 14.4 volts. Charging an LFP battery at less than 14.4 volts means it will never get fully charged and, more importantly, will never charge up high enough for the BMS to balance the four cells in series that make up the battery.

Ah, I did not know this, thank you for sharing that info! I've passed it along to my friend to see if there are any concerns with using this battery for his RV. I'm no battery expert by any means, so I trust his thoughts on it and whether or not he continues to use it.

@@AndrewSFrech - You can't damage an LFP battery with a charger meant for SLA/AGM, but you consistenly undercharge it, so you never get full performance from it. That's the gist of it.
