Great build. Brought back a lot of memories I worked on FK( Foxy Killer) in the Gulf War. All the Tornadoes were always dirty and very sun bleached as they were always outside. Great job.
I believe that Foxy Killer GR.1 ZA465 is in the the Duxford Air Museum in the UK. been there a few times. It's been repainted to its Grey colour scheme now though. Probably the most famous GR. 1 out there!
Gorgeous. I never made a gulfwar tornado myself, just a gulfwar jaguar. Those tornado pilots had one of the most dangerous jobs during the war. Most of us remember the interviews on tv with those captured pilots. I was around 14 when this war took place and it made a lasting impression on me.

Simply incredible build. Happy to see Revell is stepping up their game some and making better looking kits. I guess they had to do something to keep up with the other model makers. I really want to get back into model building and try some of these techniques I'm seeing in these videos.
It's a real testament to your skill that you built this kit so well. I started it last year and gave up because of its appalling fit in certain places. The only revell kits I have built that were good were the f15e strike eagle and the mig 25. I have learned a lot from TH-camrs such as yourself and max afterburner. You're the go to guys for model aircraft.

Just beautiful. Wanted to treat my Revell 48 version as well as this one, but couldnt get suitable PE for the pit. Its a brilliant kit for low money (paid 25€ for it). Shes gettin a Lossiemouth scheme as GR.4 (25 years of Gulf War).
Another very nice build. Have you ever tried the hair spray technique for chipping? It works very well, for me. I am a little too heavy handed with the sponge and brush chipping but you seem to be able to do that well.
Beautiful build as usual. The only snag is that a GR 1 on the ground with 67 degree wing sweep would sit on it tail! The fin was full of fuel. Standard shutdown for GR1was wing at 45 degrees, flaps and slats deployed. This is possible with the Revell kit. Great modelling techniques though and thanks for sharing
Great to see the build. Thanks. Couple of minor points aside from sweeping the wings on the ground, the rear cockpit is very different on the GR4. The GR1 has the original TV Tabs displays. Also, those LGBs are a more recent fit. The original LGBs used in the Gulf were based on the British 1,000lb bombs. I see Revell still have a slightly outdated line over the top of the intakes. The prototypes had a different shape which was modified in testing but a lot of kits still seem to have a hint of the old shape.
I'm afraid that spoiled it for me , they were too dark,, pale to medium grey if it reflects body panel material.. but other than that absolutely fantastic finish from a Revell build.. ;)
Excellent models!!!! I'd like to ask your opinion about a couple of aerographs. I'm looking for an aerograph capable of producing very fine clean lines, an aerograph that I'd use only to trace the outlines of a camo and to fill the small area inside them. I work in 1:72 scale and I primarily use acrylics (mainly Gunze and sometimes Tamiya). The other paints I use are the laquers (Alclad metallics) and sometimes the enamels (Humbrol). So I need an aerograph that is solvent-resistant. Needles and nozzels of less than 0,2 mm are out of question because of the vescosity of the paints. I also prefer gravity-fed airbrush, given the fact that, paint's viscosity being constant, they need less pressure to work because of the weight of the paint that helps the paint itself to be sucked into the aerograph. I already have an Harder & Steenbeck Evolution Silverline Two in One for the medium areas and an Iwata HP-TH for the large areas. The Evolution is, without boubt, a great aerograph, but, in my honest opinion, not so optimized for what I'd like to do. I'm looking for something more specialized. Your H&S Infinity CRPlus 0,2 seems the perfect choice for me. I'm also considering the Iwata HP-BH. What do you think? Have you ever used the HP-BH? Thanks a lot!
Thank you for your kind words I haven't used Iwata so I cannot comment I can say that they 2in1 infinity is the best one for me Again it depends what are you used to work with I have a Sparmax sp-20 which is really good as well I would try and borrow a 2in1 from a friend or test in a model shop to see how it feels
Ah, so it isn't the CrPlus. You are working with a 0,15 or a 0,4 mm needle and nozzle...correct? Thanks for testing the Evolution!!! I'll wait for the results :)

How did you find the kit overall? I am looking at a trade for the IDS one and it has a bunch of Eduard goodies. Don't want to get something that is a bit of a jack
Great build of a difficult kit! Did you seal the white oil paint in with another coat of varnish after doing the panel fading, but before adding loads of thinner for the brown wash stage? Presumably otherwise the thinner would take off the white that had been worked on previously?
Brilliant build, amazing work. When you apply the brown oil filter over the white oil fading, do the thinners not strip the white off? Or did you clear coat over the white before the brown? Thanks
Stunning build, as usual. Thanks for the video! A quick question, please. Did you put a sealer coat over the white oils used for fading? It would seem that without it, the following enamel wash for the darker filter coat would wash it away. Just wondering because I'd like to do the same as I like this technique.
Thank you very much 👍🏻 In this occasion I didn't because I let the paint for several days to dry as I was working on something else. But I usually do add a coat of gloss 😉
Another great aircraft takes flight. Being a soldier of the 80's, that 'Cold War' era's equipment is what I know and relate to best. This was one of my favorite support aircraft. Just curious on that one. Given how many of your vids I've been watching I had to make sure notifications were on for my subscription. Thanks again for showing us your work and methods Peri. Wow that is very nice. Quick question if I may: How do you do the white effect with oil paint? Do you have to thin the oil paint or just put it on directly? That really makes it look like it's been out on the desert. Thanks in advance.

The differences between a GR1 and a GR4 are very subtle, and externally, without any weapons mounted, the only difference is the addition of another pod fairing under the nose. Most of the differences are internal and in the cockpit new hand control grips are mounted to the canopy rail for the backseater to employ chaff and flares in high G manouvers. Displays are slightly different and some of the much later upgrades included a larger centre TID display in the back seat. All GR4s were upgraded GR1s anyway therefore in kit form, it's not hard to dackdate. The PE used in the this video would have done the job perfectly. The Revell GR4 kit is a reboxed IDS kit just with the extra bits for the later version.

You have a GR.4 version of the kit, what parts did you not use to backdate it to a GR.1???
I will have to get back to you
Most important were the PE cockpit parts from Eduard
@@Zone5Aviation from what I know you are abselutely right. The main differences are in the electronic and cockpit
You're also forgetting the removal of one of the Mauser 30mm Cannons....
potentially a few more changes than that.
With what glue do you glue the PE parts?
I usually use plain PVA glue or Kristal Klear
Ok thx for the info :)
I remember seeing raf tornadoes fly over my grandmas house she lived in spalding
nice but I've noticed modelers are going bit overboard with the paint chipping. This aircraft looks sandblasted.
thats what happens when you fly these in a desert environment for a few years....
thank you
