I love this type of content. For me, the best investment has been the AlexLoop…. no wires in trees, no stakes in the ground, compact, 5 minute setup, 5 minute tear down.
48 comments as I type this and I cannot believe nobody corrected. These are not tent poles, they are surplus US Army camouflage poles. Used for propping up camouflage.
I saw online that they were available in Charlottetown at Princess Auto. Since it would be a while before I could get there to pick them up I ordered online for delivery. I was surprised when I got the delivery notice that they were being shipped from Ontario. Sure enough they arrived in a couple of days and the shipping cost was less than if I drove the 45 minutes to get them. Anyway, I look forward to get POTA active soon from VY2'land. 73, Dan
I did some looking and found that these are 4 ft Army Surplus Tent Pole. So google that if. you are looking for them. There are a variety of options, including a pallet for $500.
I had six of those poles in service for almost three years before one failed. they were secured to the eve of the house at 12 feet, without any guy lines for the sections above the eve. I used them to support a G5RV Jr. I live on Long Island (suburbs of New York City) so we do get weather
@@outnaboot the bottom of the fourth pole (the first pole above the anchor to the house) cracked vertically, the top tree section came down. That was after almost three years in the elements.
I see princessauto.com ships to the US as well. Good idea on the shims, but I'm not sure I am there long enough to worry about it. I am in and out 3 to 6 hours most of the time
I saw these back way before I wanted to get into portable operation. I bought the flagpole from Amazon, but I picked the wrong size tire base - or so I thought! My oversized base actually fits like yours. My flagpole looks flimsy, so I may get some of those thicker poles.
@outnaboot , my use would be to hold up two or three of my hamstick dipoles so I can simply switch between them instead of stopping, take the dipole down, replacing the dipole elements, then raising the antenna again.
Kudos on the Daytona shirt and the NASCAR window sticker. Made the truck race at Texas just 2 weeks ago wish I could have stayed for the whole weekend. Thanks for the videos keep it up. K5WCF

I'll have to check it out and do a review if I get one
Smart man! Truck is cool too.
Thanks

You are 100% correct...but most civilians don't know what cam poles are, so Princess Auto sells them as tent poles..but you are 100% correct...

Loved it. Good content…simple straightforward presentation….and no bs 👍👍👍

Great information....
I have a lot of those fiberglass tent poles and use them for many things all the time.
They are a great piece of kit to have

Great..how did it fail?

Thanks...I'll need to keep an eye on them and do some sort of regular maintenance
Nice to know! Will pick some up in Saint John this summer. Maybe wooden shims for your trailer hitch to shim it level and tight?

Yeah, those famous 'Surplus' tent poles. I must have about two dozen of them. I stocked-up on them when they were $3 or $4 each.
I saw that in February when I was down south....

Good luck.. I love mine...the only I had is when I tried to lift too much weight with the BB7V

Let me know how that works..I am thinking about getting hamstick dipoles or a Buddihex or making my own beam like VA7BIX
Now this was a good video - seriously. Good content.
Thanks for your approval :-)
You just reduced my cost to operate, same experience with the MFJ. The SU-17 is similar wear component. Spend $80 bucks a year on.
Happy to be of service :-)
Good good, ordered some from Princess and got it delivered for next to nothing. Where did you get the guy ring? Best!
I think I got them DX Engineering or myantennas.com
Those are camouflage netting poles.
Thanks for your comment, it is very much appreciated
