We Love Katamari REROLL + Royal Reverie Review - The Final Verdict

After the success of 2018's Katamari Damacy REROLL, Bandai Namco is looking to bring more of the classic franchise on to modern systems with We Love Katamari REROLL + Royal Reverie. Alongside featuring the same gameplay as the 2005 PS2 classic, the remaster also features additional levels that explore the backstory of the King of All Cosmos.
We Love Katamari puts you into the shoes of the young Prince as he is tasked by his father-the King of All Cosmos-to roll up objects into massive balls that can then be turned into celestial bodies to fill up the night sky.
Uniquely, the Young Prince is controlled by making use of both analogue sticks, rather than featuring third-person control schemes we see in modern titles. This unique control system, along with the absolute insanity of the game's writing, visuals and music, all come together to make We Love Katamari REROLL + Royal Reverie an excellent way to revisit a blast from the past.

The satisfaction in building size and momentum in this game is unparalleled.
Its charming sense of humor, visual style and simple controls make the game a joy to play.
Playing for 5 minutes is just as satisfying as sinking a lazy afternoon. Not a lot of games can be so friendly with your time.

I remember playing the demo of one Katamari game on PS2 or PS3 and I absolutely hated the controls, extremely infuriating.
I'll wait until this now reaches 15/20€ and I'll give this series another shot.

Think of the controls as though you were controlling an RC car, and it’ll help. Once it clicks they’re amazing.
But if you _really_ don’t like the controls, both this game and the remake of the original also include a “simple” control scheme that I think uses only one control stick, and might be to your liking. Download the demo of the first and try it out to see.

This is a remaster of the sequel to the original. More levels, more variety of missions, new story. It's a vast improvement over the original.

3:18 Strange controls? It is just TANK controls. If you said just that, everybody would have understood. My main questions was not answered: what are the buying options? Which systems get a physical release?
For now it looks like a huge step back from Katamari Forever, which was already roughly a reissue with tons of extra's for the HD consoles. OK, it was just 1080p and PS3, but that is worth getting a PS3 for, and 1080p is enough for Katamari.

No, they are in game; but only on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th make a star levels, and you have to do the size and speed versions of each level first.
