She still thinks she is going to spend the winter with her family at this point.

I feel like the anime left out a lot of the things that originally makes Ferdinand seem like a potential villain and, as a result, such a compelling character It also cut many of the little things that make Ferdinand so endearing in later volumes because of his perfect memory
I'm almost sure that another reason people threw out the broth was that before Myne, boiling the vegetables doubled as cleaning them. They didn't wash them before cooking them. Of course, then, eating the same broth was disgusting for them. That could also be the reason why they believed it led to miscarriage, of course eating that filthy broth wasn't ready healthy and therefore could've cause miscarriage.

They basicly rarely eat Vegetables (seen as mostly cattle food or medicinal ingrridients), rarely eat fish too, and they never see or even imagine weird and disgusting looking shrimps or crabs can even be eaten. Ehrenfest is backwater places, I belive in Yugerschmith maybe not all people dont feel aversion about vegetables. just like in Ehrenfest even poor people dont eat fish maybe the fish species living there is like catfish, which many people dont like. but was delicasies somewhere else. or like Eel which found almost everywhere on earth, but not many societies actualy consider eating eel

Or more likely a waterborne illness, given commoners reaction to it. remember that as the lowest rank (Pre- purge) duchy they were the last to receive such technology, and the lower city was modified as well, though not as extensively (sewers weren't added). In that case merely removing the noble waste from the local water system probably helped a lot. If there was man containing traces in the water and the commoners partook of that, it could have wreaked havoc on their internals, given that mana effects pregnancy. But merely reducing Noble's uncontrolled pollution in the local water was likely very helpful regardless.

Myne and Christine are linked in an interesting sort of way. There is always some sort of separation so they never actually meet, but Myne gets her retainers in the temple, and then meets Lady Eglantine in the Royal academy, who was greatly inspired by Christine there. We learn from Rosina that Christine's final year in the RA was the same winter that Myne had her debut. I guess we can assume that she wasn't noted on Elvira's list of nobles to avoid. We also get a list of Karstadt's family she has to memorize, so she's probably not on there either. She gets mentioned a bunch, but Myne being a book gremlin never takes initiative to actually socialize.

Miya Kazuki really is great writer, you need to read her books multiple times to find hints and references what she is using. And I presume Magpie means with her comment about "Story of Fernister" or short engagement what that amulet was referencing ?

I have books on the mantle of the fireplace we never use, books on my desk, on my shelf, on my closet's shelf, and I still have four boxes of books I can't set out because my apartment is smol. I've resorted and rearranged which books are stored and which are displayed more times than I've put my laundry away. I usually just half-assedly fold my shirts and toss them on my minifridge (the only place without books), because I'm too lazy to hang them correctly, lmao
