Way back when I was in college, we used Maya as our 3D software for animation subjects before in my course and it was fun to use, but now I am already graduated from my school, I lost access to the software we are using before and I have to learn new 3D software, I am literally in a dead end. Luckily I found your video, this feels like I am taking some kind of refresher course in 3D. I will finish this series and I will show you my work soon
Dude! This was challenging. Whenever I would screw up somehow, I'd delete the mesh and start over. I did that THREE TIMES! Finally, decided to try and fix my topology. I did it. Got my topology back in line, not realizing that the order of selecting vertices to make a face "mattered". So, now I have a finished hood - bonnet for you guys on the other side of the pond. Thank you for doing this. Don't give up people, it can be done.
This is certainly a very useful tutorial if you already know a little bit about blender. I was having a hard time modeling my own vehicles from random blueprints because I grew used to the "planned tutorials". Planned tutorials are fine if you're an absolutely beginner and wanna get things done, but you won't develop much modeling skills because they omit so MANY details. In this video, however, the author starts in a natural(organic) way with vertex flow modeling. He explains how vertices and edges fit within the blueprint. Not only that, he starts simple and introduce complexity along the way. He also gives proper attention to the topology and show how to fix them. So if you're a novice to blender, this video is gold. Very natural and informative. thanks Gryd CG. Wonderful work
This is life changing video , I've watched several methods on modelling cars , but i've come to this video that help me a lot , btw for those who's using 4.0 version of blender , to merge 2 vertex , just click F to fill
I can't thank you enough man i was trying to model a jaguar f-type for days and had so many mistakes until i saw your video and made the front part flawless without any shading error
one of the best tutorials ive ever watched! subbed and liked. It not only shows you how to make the car, it does it so that even if you have only very little exp in blender, like me, you can still achieve this and follow the video. The keyboard inputs, i would say, are the most helpful of all!
i just found your full course tutorials all 13 parts. I am using blender for about 17 days and this is a good tutorial for me to learn how to model a car. Thank you for sharing this. I appreciate
Thank you for the key hint at the bottom of the screen, I've seen some others doing similar video but they never tell you what key they're pressing while doing certain actions.
Yaa many of us come to blender to get our imagination on screen but after some day we realise that there is long way to go. Thanks for tutorial and don't live this at any point bez it's very helpful for us .
when trying to make the edge sharper you could also just use the edge weight instead of adding a edge loop to avoid those vertices. great tutorial by the way!
Great tutorial!! Similarly to what others said, I learned a lot more from just watching you do the process vs the more cookie cutter tutorials. I appreciate that you didn't have basically a script to follow because watching you problem solve is really helping me learn how to problem solve similar areas in the future! Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial!
I like it, you made the video not only with terrible audio, but very confusing as if you have no idea what's going on or what you're trying to do, that ultimately lead people to look for actual proper tutorial from those who knows what they're doing. Good job!
Wow😅 Never actually gotten a review like this, thanks so much. Respect! Btw no one really knows what they're doing when modeling something as complex that this, it only takes extensive practice before coming on camera which I really didn't do most times. But you're right tho, I didn't know what I was doing most of the times🤫
Been trying to find a good car tutorial, and I think I hit the jackpot with yours! I really like your approach with vertices rather than using a place and extruding, then fixing vertices (which was what I found elsewhere). I learned a lot about vertices topology too, thanks! Subscribed and I'm gonna try and get through the tutorial and not give up this time.
A GREAT TIP, if it hasn't already been mentioned, is the filter looking icon in the upper right corner of the screen. If you click on it, in the dropdown box right underneath the 'Restriction Toggles' there is a cursor icon thats grayed out in-between the 'Eye' icon, and "Check Box' icon. Clicking on this allows you the lock layers/make them unelectable in the 'Scene Collection' menu, VERY HANDY when messing with allot of different layers. : D
All I can say is AMAZING. Please keep up the work this was the most informative video I’ve seen been struggling to model a car for a few days this method is amazing
Thats awesome thanks you bro that helped so much (in first time [before look this video], i did really try make it with looking real car and i tough that impossible lol)
Is it just me or do the images not download correctly? I just get a text file that breaks every time I try to open it. Great tutorial though. :) Best car tutorial for intermediate modelers.
Really, thanks alone for this good training is not enough. I hope you achieve the best. Does this training continue or is it stopped in the sixth part?
might recommend to buy a mouse man otherwise it would be hard for you but also buy a full size keyboard as well but it would certainly help a lot by using blender tho not as background but as refference picture
I started learning blender 2 weeks ago and here I am, smoothly going with the flow following your informative tutorial. I wish you the best, Toby :) Quick question, at minute 38:20, I don't quite understand how exactly this curve was formed when you wanted to merge the overlapping vertices by distance, would you please explain what happened there?
I used the knife tool tool to cut a way through to extend the pair of edges on one side so I could eliminate the other one. I wish there was voice recording in the comments so I could explain better.
@@grydcg I do understand the function of the knife tool for the bottom part; to end the path of the curve. What I'm still trying to figure out is how the upper curve was created once you merged the vertices. I know how hard it could be to explain it over the chat, so if there's a discord server or something, could you please link it?
great tutorial! but one question, when i use shift + z my mesh remains in wire mode and i do not get like the full mesh, how do i fix this? for example you did it at 26:48 , but it's doesn't work on my model
great tutorial! but why are my vertices just dots and dont have a line? can you pls help me out?(Theres no line that connects the vertices together its just dots)
Thank you very much, Sir for this cool instructive Tuts, myself I only needed it for aligning the Plates. Because I have a different car than that you use. But still checked off your whole Modeling series. Just a question, you only shift the Plates and not the Cube you aligned, isn't it true that now that you shift the Plates during Spline Modeling it does come out straight relative to Right, Front, Top, views? Because when I press (.) below the numpad it does center but with the other news it does not center, even though with all the Origin is in the World Origin that is unchanged. I hope you will/can give small advice? With kind regards, Ps If it is not clear I can send you a Private Message? And then possibly I will send you my Project file with it should there be any ambiguities.
Hey there, thanks so much for being a part of my channel. I don't quite understand what exactly you mean so please if you can, you could send a private message to my Instagram. instagram.com/gryd.cg?igshid=ZDc4ODBmNjlmNQ==

Funny story😂😂😂 but it's good you persevered
I model by vertices then use F to connect then fill in edges.
@@smallnuts2 doing this I messed up my car like Trash, and starting over is the most frustating part of it.
@Nikhilesh Pal takes practice and an even amount of vertices for nice quads and go through ortho views to make sure vertices are alighlined.
Thanks for motivation!!!

im pretty good at making cars, and your video helped me make my cars even better, so thank you for this
you really helped me, but i really think you should put a cube as ref for size and align the blueprint to the cube that has real life size
Thanks, your video helps me get to modeling again. To long ago and I've cars in mind I think can be fun for Assetto Corsa 😁
Glad to hear that!
this is awesome and thank youuuu, could you make please someday make a tank or a ducati bike turtorial in the future?
