Dude! This was challenging. Whenever I would screw up somehow, I'd delete the mesh and start over. I did that THREE TIMES! Finally, decided to try and fix my topology. I did it. Got my topology back in line, not realizing that the order of selecting vertices to make a face "mattered". So, now I have a finished hood - bonnet for you guys on the other side of the pond. Thank you for doing this. Don't give up people, it can be done.
Funny story😂😂😂 but it's good you persevered
I model by vertices then use F to connect then fill in edges.
@@smallnuts2 doing this I messed up my car like Trash, and starting over is the most frustating part of it.
@Nikhilesh Pal takes practice and an even amount of vertices for nice quads and go through ortho views to make sure vertices are alighlined.
Thanks for motivation!!!
one of the best tutorials ive ever watched! subbed and liked. It not only shows you how to make the car, it does it so that even if you have only very little exp in blender, like me, you can still achieve this and follow the video. The keyboard inputs, i would say, are the most helpful of all!
Welcome back, Master. I've been waiting for you. Once again, thank you so much for going such length only you know for this free tutorial.
Thanks alot❤️
Great tutorial!! Similarly to what others said, I learned a lot more from just watching you do the process vs the more cookie cutter tutorials. I appreciate that you didn't have basically a script to follow because watching you problem solve is really helping me learn how to problem solve similar areas in the future! Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial!
This is certainly a very useful tutorial if you already know a little bit about blender. I was having a hard time modeling my own vehicles from random blueprints because I grew used to the "planned tutorials".
Planned tutorials are fine if you're an absolutely beginner and wanna get things done, but you won't develop much modeling skills because they omit so MANY details.
In this video, however, the author starts in a natural(organic) way with vertex flow modeling. He explains how vertices and edges fit within the blueprint. Not only that, he starts simple and introduce complexity along the way. He also gives proper attention to the topology and show how to fix them.
So if you're a novice to blender, this video is gold. Very natural and informative.
thanks Gryd CG. Wonderful work
I'm literally in tears rn🥺 thank you soo much Visitante 2050❤️❤️
how did you eventually get into modelling your own cars?
Great comment so let's try to do my first car with this guy!😉
i will try too. taking a leap of faith here
Great general tips on topology. There is so much to learn from this series. I'd love to see the whole series
Thanks soo much, I'll try my best to complete the series for sure
Dude, I love this tutorial and learn some remain things which I tried to find in other channels. Thank you for this detailed tuts.
I am excited 😊
Thank you so much! Took me about 10 minutes for every 1 minute of your video, but I've done it!
when trying to make the edge sharper you could also just use the edge weight instead of adding a edge loop to avoid those vertices. great tutorial by the way!
All I can say is AMAZING. Please keep up the work this was the most informative video I’ve seen been struggling to model a car for a few days this method is amazing
Thank you so much🙏🏽🥺❤️
Man this is the most perfect tutorial on ytube thank you so much
Been trying to find a good car tutorial, and I think I hit the jackpot with yours! I really like your approach with vertices rather than using a place and extruding, then fixing vertices (which was what I found elsewhere). I learned a lot about vertices topology too, thanks! Subscribed and I'm gonna try and get through the tutorial and not give up this time.
Awesome, thank you!❤️
I can't thank you enough man i was trying to model a jaguar f-type for days and had so many mistakes until i saw your video and made the front part flawless without any shading error
Thanks for the support. I'm really happy I was of help to you
That's a great car to model. Can I view it?
jaguars are really great for modelling. currently im trying to model a jaguar xj (x351 version)
This tutorial so good man thank you
Glad to have you back after so long :)
Glad to be back🤗
I promise myself. I'll finish this tutorial! Thank you this tutorial actually I'm looking for this type of tutorial.. thank u so much..❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much man! just what i needed
You're welcome
Good stuff bro, glad to see you back. Logo and name lookin good too.
Thanks🙏
Amazing Work!! Thanks for sharing your wonderful knowledge, my Brother. 👍🏾👍🏾
It's my pleasure bro😌
That was great!!!
was waiting for it
i just found your full course tutorials all 13 parts. I am using blender for about 17 days and this is a good tutorial for me to learn how to model a car. Thank you for sharing this. I appreciate
th-cam.com/video/wGyKY2hBLWQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4Oua5W8BHtRCBHEi
Thank you for the key hint at the bottom of the screen, I've seen some others doing similar video but they never tell you what key they're pressing while doing certain actions.
Glad I could help!
Awesome 🔥
Thank for your Veneno, i've done it and receive many good comment about that
Interesting point of view on making this.
Learning something new every day ^^
Glad you enjoyed it 😌
This is great, thank you.
You're welcome
This is life changing video , I've watched several methods on modelling cars , but i've come to this video that help me a lot , btw for those who's using 4.0 version of blender , to merge 2 vertex , just click F to fill
thanks man
thanks
I promise myself. I'll finish this tutorial! Thank you this tutorial!!!
Really glad to hear that 😅
Nice!
Man thank you so much i learn how to make a car
good material, thanx
Very usefull video and easy to follow along even for a newbie like me . keep up the good work mate !
I will thanks 🙏🏽
Thank You so much bro, you gave me confidence and clarity that I can do this, That I can model anything If i want, I love you bro❤❤
🥺🥺🥺 I'm really happy I could do that
Thanks, your video helps me get to modeling again. To long ago and I've cars in mind I think can be fun for Assetto Corsa 😁
Glad to hear that!
uh the music choice was sick got me pumped haha
Awesome bro👌🏽😎
Cool. I love this
Thanks Daniel, your comment means alot💯💪🏽
im pretty good at making cars, and your video helped me make my cars even better, so thank you for this
Yaa many of us come to blender to get our imagination on screen but after some day we realise that there is long way to go.
Thanks for tutorial and don't live this at any point bez it's very helpful for us .
Thank you, I'm definitely going to continue it.
Bro u r amazing keep going
Thank you Chris ✨💯
wow really cool tutorial thank you so much
You're very welcome!
@@grydcg I’m french and I understand it so your tutorial is really simple to follow so yeah gg
this is awesome and thank youuuu, could you make please someday make a tank or a ducati bike turtorial in the future?
Thank you so much for this
Thats awesome thanks you bro that helped so much (in first time [before look this video], i did really try make it with looking real car and i tough that impossible lol)
Yeah😅 it happens like that
YEAAAH!
I like it, you made the video not only with terrible audio, but very confusing as if you have no idea what's going on or what you're trying to do, that ultimately lead people to look for actual proper tutorial from those who knows what they're doing. Good job!
Wow😅
Never actually gotten a review like this, thanks so much. Respect!
Btw no one really knows what they're doing when modeling something as complex that this, it only takes extensive practice before coming on camera which I really didn't do most times. But you're right tho, I didn't know what I was doing most of the times🤫
Just thank you
You're awesome 😎
you really helped me, but i really think you should put a cube as ref for size and align the blueprint to the cube that has real life size
A GREAT TIP, if it hasn't already been mentioned, is the filter looking icon in the upper right corner of the screen. If you click on it, in the dropdown box right underneath the 'Restriction Toggles' there is a cursor icon thats grayed out in-between the 'Eye' icon, and "Check Box' icon. Clicking on this allows you the lock layers/make them unelectable in the 'Scene Collection' menu, VERY HANDY when messing with allot of different layers. : D
This video is great! Thanks for making it, and teaching us advanced stuff at no cost.
I am unable to move the Cube after pressing G i located that in down 2 wheels of the car but i am unable to drag the cube up/down ? How to do it anyone reply
v good..+1
Really nice.! You should look to the mira tools addon it is very helpful i think
I'll definitely check it out😌 thank you
Where do you get accurate blueprints?
Tq brother
Welcome 🤗
Brooooo we need more tutorials, it can't just end here 😫😫
👇🏽
I am unable to move the Cube after pressing G i located that in down 2 wheels of the car but i am unable to drag the cube up/down ? How to do it anyone reply
might recommend to buy a mouse man otherwise it would be hard for you but also buy a full size keyboard as well but it would certainly help a lot by using blender tho
not as background but as refference picture
Really, thanks alone for this good training is not enough. I hope you achieve the best. Does this training continue or is it stopped in the sixth part?
It's currently at part 8, but I have no intention of stopping. I'll definitely finish the car
Long Time No See, Gyrd, How are you recently? you sounds more confident than before, very very nice to meet you again
It's awesome to hear from you again🙌🏽 ZhuoMing Li.
I'm doing good man, thanks alot...❤️
Im working on the hood/bonnet when im fixing a view another view is messed up and so on. I just cant get them to match. Any tips? (Im not working on the same car as on the video)
For example, finding out wNice tutorialch notes fit into a particular chord (chords make up the basis of most soft) - you don't need to even know
Is it just me or do the images not download correctly? I just get a text file that breaks every time I try to open it. Great tutorial though. :) Best car tutorial for intermediate modelers.
Hey, thanks for the tutorial I really appreciate it! I have a minor issue at 15:55 when I move the vertices.
If I move the vertexes after extruding them to a edges, that first vertex remains in the original position as a copy. So it looks like what it is shown in the tutorial, but theres a single vertex in its original position on the bonnet. Cant delete or do anything about it.. Does anyone know how to fix this? Cheers
You can "dissolve" unused vertices by selecting them, press x, and choose the option "dissolve vertices"
You may also merge vertices by distance too
Quick tip: press r 90 if rotation is incorrect just press - it will rotate incorrect
Oh thanks for the tip bro
I started learning blender 2 weeks ago and here I am, smoothly going with the flow following your informative tutorial. I wish you the best, Toby :)
Quick question, at minute 38:20, I don't quite understand how exactly this curve was formed when you wanted to merge the overlapping vertices by distance, would you please explain what happened there?
I used the knife tool tool to cut a way through to extend the pair of edges on one side so I could eliminate the other one. I wish there was voice recording in the comments so I could explain better.
@@grydcg I do understand the function of the knife tool for the bottom part; to end the path of the curve.
What I'm still trying to figure out is how the upper curve was created once you merged the vertices.
I know how hard it could be to explain it over the chat, so if there's a discord server or something, could you please link it?
discord.gg
@@grydcg I meant the server but thanks😂
Thank you very much, Sir for this cool instructive Tuts, myself I only needed it for aligning the Plates. Because I have a different car than that you use.
But still checked off your whole Modeling series.
Just a question, you only shift the Plates and not the Cube you aligned, isn't it true that now that you shift the Plates during Spline Modeling it does come out straight relative to Right, Front, Top, views?
Because when I press (.) below the numpad it does center but with the other news it does not center, even though with all the Origin is in the World Origin that is unchanged.
I hope you will/can give small advice?
With kind regards,
Ps
If it is not clear I can send you a Private Message?
And then possibly I will send you my Project file with it should there be any ambiguities.
Hey there, thanks so much for being a part of my channel. I don't quite understand what exactly you mean so please if you can, you could send a private message to my Instagram. instagram.com/gryd.cg?igshid=ZDc4ODBmNjlmNQ==
thnk
I watched another tutorial that uses a shrink modifier to deal with a lot of the issues. Just wondering why you don't use that? Is it better not to?
Do you know why I do not see the grid over the background?
Also, i hope you will include UV UNWRAPPING, correct one like in the games.
Definitely going to cover this my friend ✌️
When I am filling vertices with F the solid quad is not appearing it remains in wireframe help
where do you get your reference images this one is very accurate and clear
I was lucky enough to find this one, can't remember the sight tho. Specific blueprints a quite hard to find
great tutorial! but one question, when i use shift + z my mesh remains in wire mode and i do not get like the full mesh, how do i fix this? for example you did it at 26:48 , but it's doesn't work on my model
You can try pressing Alt + Z to switch between transparency mode. Had that issue once
How do y‘all find the files 😢. I can’t see the images when I open the file.
At 27:56 i cant use crtl + r, it doesnt show a line there
im trying to model a brisca f1 stockcar using this vid its so difficult
what version of blender and computer specs please, mine does not render the work
I am having issues downloading the reference file. is there an alternate link I can use?
Where did you get the blueprints?
At 33:25 my model has dark shadows everywhere and enabling the subdivision creates holes
at 27:01 when i hit Ctrl + R it only adds the line across 2 of the 4 planes
There might be somewhere that the squares aren't consistent. Meaning the others that weren't added probably had more than 4 vertices or edges
@@grydcg There was a fifth one. I have now removed it. When i press f though it highlights but the rest don't?
@@grydcg Thanks for replying
great tutorial! but why are my vertices just dots and dont have a line? can you pls help me out?(Theres no line that connects the vertices together its just dots)
I don't know of any problems like that, it might be a glitch in blender probably caused by an outdated graphics card driver
I am unable to move the Cube after pressing G i located that in down 2 wheels of the car but i am unable to drag the cube up/down ? How to do it anyone reply
How fid you convert the wire frame points into surface I don't know witch optan will convert
Just select 3 or more vertices and press F
@@grydcg thankyou
next time , you can decrease the opacity of the reference images so that they aren't so bright .
I am unable to move the Cube after pressing G i located that in down 2 wheels of the car but i am unable to drag the cube up/down ? How to do it anyone reply
how to get the back veiw in 3.6 v
can anyone help me find a solution when I align my vertice and change to front view it doesn't go to the right place instead it goes to the 3D cursor x axis line
Please check, you may have a problem with aligning your blueprints
Can someone help how to extrude with scale
Is this good for beginners in car modeling?
yeah ive learned alot from this and ive just downloaded blender about 2 days ago.
When I exit from the project and come back all but the last put background image corrupt and turn pink. Is there any way to fix that without having to replace the blueprints?
Found the solution. They were quite old and used a previous display of Blender so it was a bit difficult to find. For anyone that may need it:
On the big right side display, click on the top left button that says "Editor type" and put it in "Properties". There, look for "Object Properties" and select the background image (In my case it only had to be done to one image, not sure if it's always the case, check just to be sure). On the same column where Object Properties was, now search for "Object Data Properties". There will be 2 squares, one "Empty" and the other "Image". On Image click on the shield icon by the side of your file. That should do it.
I'm pretty new to Blender so sorry if this is common knowledge, just thought other beginners would like to know.
Thanks for sharing this, I wish I could've helped you myself. I didn't see the comment on time but thanks alot
Hello, I have a little problem and it is that when I put the vertices in the plane of the roof part it seems that I put them well but when I give number 3 which is the side view the vertices appear out of nowhere and then I would like to know that I am doing wrong
Umm... I think you need to adjust the vertices on all sides to ensure its in the right place, and this would only work if you've done the first step which is to use a cube to align the blueprints in the right position.
@@grydcg Use the bucket and everything
@Gryd CG Only the side plane and Rear give me that problem
How do i fix blueprintz that arent proplely scaled?
There's really no easy way to correct them. It's either you find a new one or you redraw it yourself and correct the errors you saw while doing so buy using real world reference
You should prob update the download I cant dwnload for some reason
Why cannot you adjust the box size to the vehicle dimensions?
Couldn't find the accurate dimensions of the car online
after I finish this series will the mclaren be able to open the side doors just like in the start of the video
Oh yes, there'll be a whole animation tutorial
@@grydcg very cool
i givin up on this iv tried for 3 days now it dosent work for me
I couldn't be able to download reference images
Edit: use google drive and share the link so that everyone can access
I tried to do that, i couldnt
22:39, process
I have some headache in 29:30 , and this corner not come well with me.
sir your image download not working
