that's crazy how they got a 7 + 1 of 45 in such a small gun that's what a full-size 1911 holds and it's twice as heavy and twice as big.
I bought the 9mm for my wife and just picked up the 40 last week and no one said a damn thing at the gun shop about a 45 coming out...I would rather have the 45..

Rick L You would definately rather have the .45 I orginally had the .40 because my motto is go big or go home. Hated it traded it in for the 9mm. Then when the 45 came out i ordered 2 and i absolitely love them. I still have the 9mm its either an ankle gun or a back pack gun now only because it shoots to good to jist get rid of it. Go .45 man you wont be disappointed

If you like .45 ACP, and are looking for a concealable single-stack pistol with the power of the .45 round, then look no further than the Shield. I considered seriously both the shield and the Springfield XDS in .45, and the Shield has the better feeling grip, the better undercut trigger guard, overall balance is comparable between them both, and I have fired the XDS and now the Shield in .45, and I can say that the Shield has a slight advantage in recoil management, being a slightly softer shooter than the Springfield. Not to mention, I paid about $70 bucks less for the Shield at $399 at my local favorite gun shop - Hodges & Hodges in Gassville, Arkansas. I will say this: the magazines are EXTREMELY hard to load at first - the springs are incredibly stiff, and I'm a big, strong dude at 6' 3"... Solution: loaded them up with Blazer Brass 230 grain target loads, let them sit full overnight, then go out and shoot both mags, reload, and continue until you've gone through at least 150 rounds - the mag springs soften up considerably, allowing you to load both mags without the use of a loader.
I picked up the non safety version at the Denver Tanner show on Saturday, $438, so $50 or so under MSRP. It really is a soft recoiling gun, and incredibly accurate. My only problem is the paint on the front sight is not too bright, but I've had that problem with another Shield I've owned, too. I'll probably upgrade the sights as soon as I can find some good ones (not sure if the smaller Shield sights fit this, probably not)
Thanks for your review of the M&P 45 Shield. I purchased one a few weeks ago and I'm very pleased. The grip texture allows a good purchase for the slightly additional recoil of the 45 over the 9mm. Interestingly, I ordered the M&P 45 Shield but after taking delivery noticed the slide marked with 2.0. Looks like the 45 Shield may have been the 1st of the 2.0 series.
I purchased one and carry it inside the waistband at the four o'clock position and it fits like it was made for me. So far this is my favorite CCW/EDC.
i did notice a severe lack of enthusiasm of those in this video. its usually more fun to watch when those in it act like they are having fun and are interested in what they are doing

I have had mine for 5 months now absolutely love it this is my carry gun would recommend that you try going to like M&P 2.0 45.
As soon as i got my local dealer to realize they werent for law enforcement only i ordered twins. I love this gun
All 5 of the ProTEQ Masters have shot the Shield 45, 40, & 9. Three of us own and carry the Shield 45 and a fourth is about too. It is an excellent CCW platform when the correct Defensive ammo is used (short barrel appropriate reliably expanding projectiles). The S&W 45 Shield is well engineered with a good gripping surface and fine trigger. If your 45acp inclined you NEED to try one in comparison to the other micro 45's available. We ALL believe it beats the current competition in that size range. Don't judge a weapon by viewing and reading, go use it and compare it, then you KNOW about it. Top Guns and ProTEQ both have shooting opportunities where you can test fire different guns, so try before you buy.
I picked one up last week, put about 50 rounds through the mp45. It shoots really smooth. Going from the 40 to the 45. The 40 is louder and has more of a whip. The only bad I have to say about this gun is when being concealed the hand grips feel like sand paper on your skin.

Is not a more positive grip sometimes considered a bad thing for conceal carry do to the discomfort of it rubbing against your body?
Get an Alien Gear IWB holster. The newest version is so comfortable I often forget I'm wearing it (until I have to get into my car).
I carry a Gen3 Glock 26 IWB for that reason, the Gen4 was like sandpaper against my side even in a Crossbreed Supertuck which is about as full coverage a holster as I've found.
I wear a wife beater underneath so I didn't notice. But the grip does feel like sandpaper. The gun is amazing and feels good in my hand.

A good slow big round. The .45 is a great L.E.& military firearm. But as a civie, I carry a Shield9 (CA.version) w.a green Viridian laser, cap.11 (magguts)in a deSantis pocket-tuk holster. Love it. No printing. It disappears.
Shot mine a couple of weeks ago using MagTech 230 gr FMJ and it was hurting my hand. Could not continue after one box of 50 rounds. So the felt recoil was a lot more than the M&P Shield 9mm.
i will wait for the non-safety version.
It's already available. Check the S&W website and you'll see the model number to look for. I think I'll wait to see what they do for the Performance Center version.

I have the non safety version. The only negative I have is that the stippling is so aggressive I cannot wear it for long against my skin so I end up having to wear a t-shirt, then the gun, then another t-shirt over that when I'm wearing an IWB holster. To correct that I am going to sand the skin side down. Here in Georgia you really don't want to wear two t-shirts during the long summer, just too hot.
I put a Talon Grip over mine before I even fired it for the first time. That stippling is WAY too aggressive!
I was looking forward to this review. Why all the edits during Jennifer shooting? I mean they appear to be timed to hide the edits. How can we be sure this an accurate review? Did the S&W rep say they will improve the grips and trigger on the other Shields?

Sounds (and looks) awesome. I wonder if they will be doing a "Gen 2", if you will, of the original 9mm and .40 Shields with the more textured grip and better trigger like on this .45 version? That'd be sweet.

All S&W M&P Shield guns are great all under $500. some have night slights the 40 S&W Cal came with(3) Mags 1 6 shot & 2 with 7 shots and night slights for $ 495 out the door better than the Glock's
I wonder if these improvements will make it to the 40 version. I was considering a 40 shield, but now I think I'll wait to see if the improved grip comes over.

Have you had any issues seating the magazines (having to put a lot of palm pressure on the bottom of the mags to push em into position?)
Kimber Ultra would be a better gun than this for certain... but I guess this is much cheaper. My experience is that small guns in 45acp handle better than small guns in 40. So it is an improvement there for sure. Does this come in 357 sig?
I have both the 40 & the 45 and the first thing I did to both of them is install an apex trigger. Not a fan of that cheep plastic trigger, didn’t trust it .......

Hmm, she didn't say whether she preferred the .45 over the nine, which was why I hung on till the end. Also I've known people like the guy who fired up the truck while the others were outside taping; I find people who are not aware of their surroundings are an accident waiting to happen, and choose to avoid them. But then maybe it's just me.

She has a tendency to loosen her hands after each shot, which after all 6 rounds will add a second to total response time. Firm grip, front sight placement, means better target acquisition. Tighten up, girl.
Recoil 20% less than the shield 40. What engineer came up with that. Have them both about the same to me. But both guns are accurate and easy to shoot.

eh, the 9mm is best for carry. The shield 45 is only a finger segment shorter in the slide than my mod 2 45 and a little thinner... the grip is the same length. If you want to carry a 45 the mod 2 is better quality. I carry the shield 9mm bc it's like a perfect little 1911 in the hand and thin.. +p hollow pts no one is getting up from one of those, no matter what anyone says.

liars. I've had a shield 9 for a about a year and bought the shield 45 a month ago and I noticed a huge difference in recoil between the 9 & 45 shield. that being said I still Love my new Shield 45. it's awsome.

I bought mine last week and the stupid safety failed. That cheap ass leaf spring that actuates the thumb safety is a joke. Now I have a relatively expensive plinker with a HUGE hole in the frame where I removed the safety because I DO NOT trust my life to this pistol. It is a safe queen and a Springfield Armory XDS is now my EDC.
I'm a Sig or HK guy I'm not into this s & w I took a look I was curious thinking I might like it but im not that impressed.peace

The Shield by far is slimmer than any 1911 I've ever seen. I love my .45 ACP Shield. It's a great shooter, and I've got some killer targets from the weekend to prove how accurate it is in my hands. It's my new EDC weapon.

Looks like it is hard to hold on to - she has to grip it again after each shot. Her eyes close each time.
Why was all the distractions not edited out of this video and get a shooter who could hit the bullseye and at least give the gun a higher mark, she made the .45 Shield look like its not accurate what so ever. This was not a selling video for S&W, I'll keep my Glock 30 SF, it might be thicker and heavier but it will shoot the center out of a bullseye every time and it holds 3 more rounds of .45 ACP over the Shield. I'm not against the Shield as I do have a 9mm Shield and I do like it and I'm sure the .45 Shield is a winner also but this video did not do it justice!!
