Oooh - lovely fabrics. The covers turned out beautifully. I keep a pair of pliers covered with electrical tape for doing metal work...just to keep from accidentally marring the metal. Cheap and chipper way of protecting the metal finish without purchasing another specialty tool.
I watch so many of your videos. I'm a lifelong rural Oklahoma Okie. You can imagine my accent. 😅 But when I craft, in my head I talk with your accent. I will think, "I actually love this bit!" just like you. Isn't that funny?!?!
Ceri: well done! Instructions are very clear and concise. I always appreciate people who are prepared and can clearly describe what they are showing. I believe that is why you are and have been successful, besides being very creative in your endeavors. I have been a business woman all my life with a passion for what I do. With that said, I take things seriously. All this creating that we all do, for me , is clearly “creative-play”, not just play. I know people will say what’s the difference? It is how it’s done and having good taste in doing it. And yes, that can be taught. You might have “coffee with Ceri”, but I have “thought with Carol.” I’m a seasoned business woman, with a lot of knowledge and experience to share with people. This is what part of life is all about. I believe that is what you are doing at a young age of 61. Haha. Kudos to you and all the creative people I have been lucky to come across. Carol from California
I love these colours together. Very Autumn. I do prefer the finished edge best and adding lace or a frill between the front and inside makes the whole cover and journal look professional. This is also how you add ribbon or basic ties to the journal so they are secure as well as neat. A lovely tutorial for beginners Ceri. Thanks for sharing😀
Hi Ceri! I love Autumn and the colors here are lovely. I actually have 3 Autumn journals I've made and have enough paper and ephemera for probably 4-5 more!!! You did a beautiful job on the covers!
Very useful Ceri, I've been making junk journals for a long time, but I've always struggled with fabric covers. When i insert a piece of card inside an envelope for sturdiness, I also add tracing paper ( for the crinkle effect)😊 thanks for a great video, when I watch you I know I'm going to learn something!
Very clear and practical tutorial for beginner journal makers and a useful refresher for those who have already made a few XX Yes, the Tim fabric is lovely --- I am also trying to get my hands on some Seth Apter pieces (both designers are expensive herein The Netherlands [sigh]). Thank you for sharing with us XXXX
Good evening dear Ceri, I love fabric covered journals! So pretty. Tim Holtz fabric is wow . Can’t find any where I am. I never thought to use 2 envelopes with fabric on both. Genius. Thank you so much for showing your process. Such a fantastic tutorial. Thanks so much for sharing. Hugs and blessings ❤❤
When you said you sometimes get in a hurry...reminds me of me 🤣 I have to remind myself that there is joy in the journey. Thanks for sharing these great tips!
You always have edge to your creations - I enjoy your approach. Thanks Ceri and I will be making a couple of these. Thank you for inspiration. (Greensboro, NC USA)
Great journal cover Ceri❤ is always good to review knowledge and see how others do that, there is always something new to learn too. Thank you for dedicate your time on it
Hi Ceri. I love this video. I've never tried a fabric cover on an envelope but I'll certainly be doing a few. I have lots of fabrics from my quilting projects and what an easy way to use them. Thanks for such clear instructions. Val.🐨 💟
Thank you for yet another great video. The timing is great too. I ended up in hospital yesterday and had back surgery. Now im battling low blood pressure and low oxygen levels in my blood. Wish I was home, crafting, but god only knows when that will happen again. Stay safe and have fun
Lovely journal covers. I think I'll have to try and find some Tim H fabric here in Australia. I'd love to make a few journal covers like this. Also, my friend makes handbags & backpacks & she just loves Tim's grungy style. Her birthday is coming up too!💕
I'm in love with the colorful fabric. I didn't know Tim had fabric. His things are to expensive for me. But they are bith beautiful. I enjoy how you explain how you can do things differently. ❤
Hi Ceri. Beautiful fabric. I like to pad my envelopes a little so I use the plastic coated envelopes. Because I hate dealing with the plastic (glue doesn't like to hold plastic together) I cut the padded plastic one into 2 pieces and put them inside the paper envelopes. One piece per journal cover of course. (I consider it the epitome of recycling plastic envelopes 😂.) But seriously, it makes a nice padded cover. I really need to take a look at Tim Holtz fabric...it's lovely. TFS Hope you have a great day. 🌞
I love Tim Holtz fabric. I want to make a quilt with his fabric. These covers are nice. I was wondering if you might use a walking foot when sewing the fabric if that would have help to keep from puckering that orange fabric? Just a thought.
That was very helpful Ceri, I'm just making my first fabric covered journal without a sewing machine at the moment. I have a question about the corner protectors, when I was looking I noticed they came in three sizes, is it best to choose medium to fit all sizes that I would say us journalers would probably work with? Thanks again, there's was a lot of good i info there even for those of us who are not newbies.
I must admit I’ve not noticed they came in three sizes, as you suggested I’d ordered medium and then decide if that’s the you prefer before re-ordering them.
Hello Ceri! Thank you for your videos! I am a “newbie” and I wanted to ask you if you use the punch tool to insert eyelets onto tags. Thanks very much!
Hi Ceri, a question for you with these fabric covers. They aren't complicated for a single signature because you just fold them in half and sew the signature in. What do you do about a thicker journal for several signatures? Do you add a reinforced spine? Is there a video on this in your playlist? Thanks! 😃😘
It is supposed to be a thick plastic covering for a table as in a table cloth, I have a store near me that sells this one the roll in several designs and I cover my entire work table with it as a background to work upon which keeps my real wood work table below from becoming to damaged.
I know this isn't older video but I have a question for you can I have some fabric that cannot be replaced it's from my mother's wedding gown and I am 61 years old. I'm making a 1925 to 35 near type wedding of which I will be putting in some of her sayings some of her pictures as it kind of a tribute that I'm going to leave for the generations under me because I never married. Now that said here's my question I don't know what you have in Wales but I do know that you were in the United States for a period of time do you know what fish line is clear nylon. That is it for fishing they use it for making bracelets I'm sure that's enough information it's clear if I find the right thickness which I don't know how many millimeters or what's less than a millimeter I don't know you know I am in the states, so can I whip Stitch with that I don't have a machine when I like the way stitching looks I get a fine tip and I draw stitching if you get a chance could you please answer my question do you think that that nylon thread could possibly work and I just love your creative mind I'm a CPA by day. And you and I think a lot alike as far as squares and rectangles it's what's called a Precision brain. What you should have done is got educated in mathematics because you have a Precision brain as well as I do🎉
You can buy clear or transparent thread, the thread for making brackets is normally stretchy. I’m unsure of the thickness to use but as you suggested you can buy fishing line that is also fine.
Oooh - lovely fabrics. The covers turned out beautifully. I keep a pair of pliers covered with electrical tape for doing metal work...just to keep from accidentally marring the metal. Cheap and chipper way of protecting the metal finish without purchasing another specialty tool.

That is awesome
This is how I make most of my covers now too. I like a finished edge. Guess it’s because I was a sewer and quilter in the past.
Great video, Ceri. Thank you. You are a joy to watch.

You are fantastic! Appreciate the tips and options. Had no idea 2 envelopes would make such a nice fabric cover.
Stunning as always Ceri! They are beautiful ❤
Ceri, love the colors together, I like the ideas of adding the envelope for extra strength, thank you for sharing.
Those fabrics are gorgeous and thanks for the whip stitch idea!!❤
A blanket stitch works great too. If you're not familiar with the stitch try googling it for a demo.
I could listen to you for hours. ❤
You are such a great crafter, there is no limit to what you can do🥰 The fabric is beautiful😊
Great tutorial, love those fabrics, thanks for sharing ❤
Thanks so much 😊

Thanks so much
Great fabric choices. I like having journal for different purposes.
Lovely fabric covers! Tfs
I love how they turned out. Thank you for sharing.

What a nice way of making fabric covers ❤ I’ll have to try it out
Ceri!! I love the miter corner!! I have not done that before!! That will be on a future craft and chat for sure!! ❤❤
Your timing is perfect for me!! I just got some metal corners. Thanks so much
Loved this, nearly had me buying the fabric at 3 o'clock this morning!😊 Going to have a practice first. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Ceri. I love this video. I've never tried a fabric cover on an envelope but I'll certainly be doing a few. I have lots of fabrics from my quilting projects and what an easy way to use them. Thanks for such clear instructions. Val.🐨 💟
This method was inspired years ago by my friend Gayle Agostinelli on her channel.
Thank you. I really enjoyed this, as always ❤
Enjoyed watching ! Lovely fabric and they both just came lovely.
Beautiful fabrics! I have a stack of fabric ready to be made into journals. I just need to do it. haha.
I love this project, Ceri❤
Thank you for yet another great video. The timing is great too. I ended up in hospital yesterday and had back surgery. Now im battling low blood pressure and low oxygen levels in my blood. Wish I was home, crafting, but god only knows when that will happen again. Stay safe and have fun
The low blood pressures from the pain medicine take as little as you possibly can get away with
Great tutorial.Do you suggest running the whip stitch through the fabric and the envelopes or only the fabric?
I hope you heal fast and get home soon.
Heal quickly and feel better soon.
I normally only run it through the fabric and not the envelopes
This video is very helpful great tutorial, Thank You!
Very inspiring… I have made notebooks using gel printed fabric… I might go through my fabric pieces as I need to make more 😊
Great video and I love the fabrics you chose. Thanks for sharing 😊

Beautiful fabrics. They make very flexible covers.
I'm in love with the colorful fabric. I didn't know Tim had fabric. His things are to expensive for me. But they are bith beautiful. I enjoy how you explain how you can do things differently. ❤
He has a range of fabric and I believe so does Seth Aptner
Haven’t seen covers made this way. I really like the idea and can’t wait to give it a try.
Wow that's spooky I've just bought some fabric from her Ebay shop, it arrived this morning!
Great video. TFS! Austin TX USA
You do beautiful work!🙂👍
I love this method, and will bookmark it. Thank you 🎉
Thank you for explaining this so clearly, I'm now going to it this way😊❤

Hi great idea to put the padded inside the other envelope. I have some and will try this.
Good idea

Hello Marguerite
Beautiful covers!😊❤
Cute covers Ceri!
I love Tim Holtz fabric. I want to make a quilt with his fabric. These covers are nice. I was wondering if you might use a walking foot when sewing the fabric if that would have help to keep from puckering that orange fabric? Just a thought.
You’re right if I’d been aware it was going to pucker I would have used my walking foot.
Good afternoon ceri😊❤

@@CeriGriffiths Thanks Ceri, I'll do that.
Hi Ceri. When doing the whip stitch do you just catch the fabric or go through the paper? Great video 😊
I normally just catch the fabric.
Hello Ceri! Thank you for your videos! I am a “newbie” and I wanted to ask you if you use the punch tool to insert eyelets onto tags. Thanks very much!
Dianne, I normally punch the hole and then insert and cramp the eyelet
Thank you, Ceri! How do you cramp the eyelet? Thank you
Hi Ceri, a question for you with these fabric covers. They aren't complicated for a single signature because you just fold them in half and sew the signature in. What do you do about a thicker journal for several signatures? Do you add a reinforced spine? Is there a video on this in your playlist? Thanks! 😃😘
Yes I would create it differently with a spine, I’ve not yet done a video of that process but it is on my list.
@@CeriGriffiths ok. Get your pkg today? 😁
I like your table cover- what is it please?
It is supposed to be a thick plastic covering for a table as in a table cloth, I have a store near me that sells this one the roll in several designs and I cover my entire work table with it as a background to work upon which keeps my real wood work table below from becoming to damaged.

There is clear thread for use in a sewing machine that should work for you.
I like the whipped stitch idea if needed. It would not take long to do. I have a ton of fat quarters waiting to be journal covers. lol. ❤
@@Ann-eh7ii thanks and good luck with your projects as well
You can buy clear or transparent thread, the thread for making brackets is normally stretchy.
I’m unsure of the thickness to use but as you suggested you can buy fishing line that is also fine.
