❤️The Block Arcade & Historic Tea Room ( Formerly Hopetoun Tearoom) Sat 31st Aug 24

Dulcineasdiarycontinued - I remember this over centre old tearoom and how it was called The Hoptoun Tearoom . Now it's just called The Block Tearoom - not as catchy . There was apparently a change of ownership amd the new Hopetoun Tearoom moved to a new premises on Bourke St with a new pastry chef. I will have to try and find it on one of my next visits.
Meanwhile the original historic tearoom continues to operate and serve hightea to full houses. The cakes in the window are still familiar although not the same but the decor of kitch wall paper and a step back in time to Victroian era decor is still present.
