You find peace because the elements that make up city life is not present here! Those elements issue us with anxiety and stress from a visual and mental aspect. Automobiles, overcrowding of people on the streets, fluctuation of commercial and trading operations, egotism, arrogant and intimidating humans, emergency services ( police, fire and ambulance), being judged by other people...... all those aspects are not present in this video and this way of life. The city was made to infuse anxiety, depression and tension (paying rent, bills etc) to the human beings consciousness!

The most important thing this man did, was choose the perfect land to build his home on. If you have a large, clean, natural source of water on the surface of your property, you can do just about anything you want with it and make it successful. Then, he built his home of stacked logs and Cobb supplied by his own land. That meant little to no waste of the trees and thick walls so the house is easy to heat and cool. Everything is so well thought out! Well done!...seriously, this is the best I've seen anywhere. Good job!😊
@Christine Gavin Broken Twig could you use solar or wind power? Or even a combination of solar and the grid or wind and the grid. Where does your water come from now? Also you can make sure your windows are double or preferably triple paned and top of the line. That your doors are as well and that your home is well insulated with no spots that you are leaking air. Then if it's just the 2 of you, you might consider closing off parts of the house you don't need all the time. Those things will really help your energy consumption.
Also he built the right property to be on that land without damaging nature etc, cos there are so many idiots that would build totally inappropriate homes on this type of beautiful land, and totally miss the point and ruin the surrounding nature, and wildlife habitat...... To live on the land and keep as close to the nature and wildlife that surrounds you is how it's done, with as little disruption to wildlife n nature as possible it's the only way... For that end he has got a great opportunity as far as external facilities are concerned but lacks a genuine spiritual guidance. he has got a great mundane life but alas! all for nothing at the end.

@John Monday living on the grid is far more stressful. You need to pay rent and house taxes, car maintenance house maintenance, keep job, commute to job, kiss the bosses behind, commute home, buy food, cook food, be stressed, sit on your but to distress in front of a tv that spews garbage, pay more taxes, spend hours and hours of your life to get an education in order to spend hours of your life slaving away for the big guy in order to have everything that this guy has without all that. Absolutely love the life you've built. I would love to live that way as well. The world has gone to far with need/greed of always wanting bigger, better, more, etc. I have come to feel a very strong pull lately to live a simpler, old ways life.

I am impressed with his electrical smarts in order to set all this up.
Agreed. Especially the hydro-electric system. Very smart for a overcast climate.
Might I ask if you have trouble with damp, inside, in the summer? I know the fire keeps it balanced in cold weather.

Totally amazing
Yes!!!! Very very impressed!!!
Holy crap you have built a beautiful place! The roof of the workshop in particular is a work of art
I love the door you're making. Its stunning !!!! Your whole home is simply awesome!!!!
This is my first time here and I must say that I am so impressed with your knowledge of things , how polite you are, your energy, stamina, persistence, etc. You've done an amazing job and deserve all the benefits. I wish you the very best from life and my God bless you abundantly!
What an incredible man! Truly self-sufficient. Loved learning about him!
I'm baffled as to why someone would say you're not off grid when you are making your own power. (?) You're doing a fantastic job! To hell with the trolls.
You're not truly living off the grid with a cell phone in hand making TH-cam videos for 120k subscribers
Off grid is to be off the power grid i think what he's done is awesome
Being off grid means not hooked up to the public electric services. You can make your own power without being attached to public utlity services.
Off grid means you are not hooked up to public power or fuel. It doesn't mean your cut off from the world. Stop hating.
The idiot who said your not off the grid lives on the 14th floor of a block of flats. He thinks he's off the grid.Off his head probably.
Amazing, the whole set up is genuis
Amazing that you’ve done all this in only 5 years. It’s beautiful, wonderful life!
Feel happy for anyone that is able to get into less stressful living situations, not everybody have the courage to do the transition. Happy for you.
THIS GENTLEMAN IS AMAZING, !!!! Best of luck, you inspire us all!!
You've built yourself a comfortable life style. It's all yours, it looks great....I hope you enjoy it.
@ Richard Brooks
Right on!
Thankyou for the tour of your house and what you’ve built. All I can say is WOW, what a great way to live. You must be very clever to build what you have and do the electrics. Well done!
You are such a talented and hard working man!
I take my hat off for your ingenuity.
"Apparently it will kill me..... Even though it wont"
I love it!!! You have to laugh at and love all the internet experts that will argue how you should live. In all honesty. Most people don't want to hear others opinion. They want to hear their opinion come out of others mouth..
Much respect on your true craftsmanship. You are a structural artist.
Best wishes!!
I had a solid laugh at that, too! Gotta love the armchair experts in TH-camland ;-)

Such ingenuity and aesthetics. I'm so impressed.
Kris, this is wonderful. I love to see your sustainable and skilled building.
truly looks like Hagrids cottage, I was hoping to see a baby dragon or fang! Absolutely breathtaking house.
If I ever live in a place like this I’m definitely getting a dog like Hagrid.
But he said he has a bat or bats, close enough...lol
This is my first visit to your channel and I must say it is very impressive. You seem to be extremely happy.
Congratulations !! Well done mate.
Wow! My kind of man ...so industrious and smart... We need more guys like you! Lord bless you..😊
These little cabins in the woods videos are so soothing. Maybe bc it’s an escape from real life and you become one with nature. Thanks for sharing ! Incredible work. 🤗
I watched you tough it out during the building of your home a few years ago. Absolutely amazing how determined you were and how much work you did. So great to see you a few years on living the life you have, with your own hands, created for yourself. Congratulations man. I hope you have company to enjoy your life with.
Your a amazing man Kris, this is the first video I had seen of yours, had to see it again. All the best to you and yours, God Bless ❤️
I love this so much and admire the move from London to country and to nature , off grid is such a beautiful way of life , thank you for sharing ,would love to do this !
This is awesome!! I am at stage 1 in Portugal, on 18 hectares in the Algarve. I have my work cut out and can really appreciate the hard work you have put in! Love your hydro set up, I am good with solar power here. Keep up the good work sir! :-)
Mr. Mumby, that is awesome you are living off grid. Being a single girl I live with my mom in a home on a suburban in ft lauderdale florida. I would prefer to live off grid like this man in the video or like you.
Part of my descendants are from Portugal. I am sure your place is cute & awesome just like you!!!😉😘
I've just "discovered" you and I am very impressed. More power to you my friend. You are an inspiration. Thank you.
Off grid living doesn't always mean living like a caveman. Making your own electricity and irrigation systems are a lot easier than you'd assume.
I applaud you on your build and choice, wish I could do that myself.
Love his simple life!! Here in America, a few are going off grid. Takes a special kind of person to.
What an amazing life you've carved out for yourself! I really do envy you. I hope you continue to do well!
I immediately liked when you heated up the chicks food
T K And me. He seems like such a lovely guy.
Onjuli Ombrella 😂😂 it’s a valid misunderstanding
but at the end he said he was producing food from the chickens. if not just eggs but slaughters them then not so compassionate after all . what's the point of living a hermit's life when engaging in unwholesome, unrighteous deeds devoid of meditation on divine wisdom and developing compassion in one's heart for all creatures. For that end he has got a great opportunity as far as external facilities are concerned but lacks a genuine spiritual guidance. he has got a great mundane life but alas! all for nothing at the end.

Bob Marley approves. You're living a good, simple, honest life. Carry on, mate!
How did you learn to do all this stuff, especially the hydro electric system? Do you think you'd be interested in teaching others this kind of life style? I'm sure there are some people who would love to learn from you.
Or write a book with pictures!!
Yes I would love to learn. He could also do TH-cam videos 🤷🏽♀️
I was thinking the same thing! I more than want I feel like I NEED to know this. I could teach my grandad and my neice whom is so curious how this stuff works.
He's an engineer. Either trained or natural. They think like this. In the future, I see villages popping up around people like Kris. He shares the knowledge with a few keen learners and presto! Self Organized Collectives living on the land in village style. The old (healthy) ways become new again.
Can we come and put cushions and faux fur in it 😊
I’m also off grid Not many realize almost everyone lived like we do less then 100 years ago
Yes I do and no thanks.
I'm researching about going completely off the grid you have any advice for first starting out

Bravooo!!!
Look at that roof in his workshop. The ceiling.
This Man is amazing!
Architect, engineer,
This is brilliant. It’s wonderful to see someone living the life they want. Living the dream!
I am Indonesian, and as a people living in developing country, I thing this ia a nice example of live life in remote area rather than think about living in modern country with tight schedule and full of stress..
Amazing! You are a great man! First time watching you. Reminds me of back to Eden when life was simple. So inspiring!
Can't wait to live like this. I am an introvert empath that has been traumatized. I just want to live alone (with animals) in nature away from the rest of the world. I will be a lil more than an hour away from a major city, but I'll be fine. Nature, springs, lakes, waterfalls and lots of land for growing food. I just really need a break from broken people who refuse to self reflect and do their own healing. I just want to worry about me and my animals, worrying about others have drained and exhausted me.
it's the best medicine for your soul. I am a lot like you Bibi. Keep setting the intention until it manifests. Pray with all your heart sweet soul. You WILL get there. You have my compassion, and I'll be praying for you to have the stars align to make this opportunity a reality for you. xoxo.
I have the same feeling
I totally agree and understand your plight. However, I would have a man with me when I start this way of life.😎💗
I would love to live like this...and bibi jo I hear you !

It looks like a Hobbit house it’s so cute👍 it looks cozy and warm you can watch nature outside in the comfort of your home great job!! God bless
Did you see the bath inside? Awesome!
Definitely respect a person who lives the for gotten ways
@John Monday Need good health
A roof over your head and food on the table. You pick your vices.
This is so awesome, I’m planning on living off grid very soon here and I love the way you set up your home. I’ll be sure taking notes, keep up with the videos
You, sir, are amazing! Thank you for sharing. I'm a nomad in the States. If I were 20 years younger, I'd do off-grid living but now in my 70s nomadic and living minimally is the best and quite enjoyable option.

Thank you for this video. I'm going to purchase land, and build my tiny house. Okay so maybe I won't build it, but buy it or something. I basically just want to live peacefully in and with nature. 2020 has showed me that I need to have my own plot and live off the grid!

Kris, Hope you are well and keeping away from Corona virus. Can’t believe how you have done everything you have done. First class work and very individual. Love the hydro energy brilliant.
You have a beautiful life. I love the details of your new shop door...I noticed your doors are all very creative. Not just rectangular openings.
Wonderful!❤️
Gosh, I love the style of your house walls. Looks so cozy and interesting to look at inside or out.
Having bats at the house will keep the bugs down. You will usually only see them about twilight/sundown. The tiny Cord-wood haus looks great, the bit of moss growing on it looks appropriate. Your like a Wizard in the Woods, lol. Thanks for the update video - looking forward to that door for the workshop come together.
I live in the United States & about 20 years ago me & 6 friends built a 20 foot by 20 foot by 15 foot high cabin on some city owned land & used it for when we played paintball over the weekend . I just went back to see if it was still standing about 3 months ago & low & behold it was , it still had the old lock on the door so i cut it off & went inside & everything was like it was the day we left it no rot no Leakey roof everything was great so me my daughter & some of the friends who built it stayed in it for 4 days over the new year weekend , great food& drink & a lot of great game & memories we had that weekend .
You built it 20 yrs ago, but how long had it sat unused? Thanks for sharing btw!
This is an amazing set up. I love the woods and the tub. It must be so relaxing and peaceful after a day of hard work to have a long soak in that tub. You are lucky. Enjoy
