"A Day Living Off Grid In A Cabin In The Woods" (2019) is a delightful romantic comedy fit for the whole family. The setting is a cob roundhouse in southern Wales and the movie follows a typical day in the life of the protagonist- Kris, who is supported by a wonderful, familiar cast made up of Dot (his demure, harp-playing girlfriend) and Cat. While Kris is clearly the star of the show, and Dot provides a strong supporting role, it's Cat who steals the show with her antics, brilliantly switching roles back and forth between sidekick and tormentor. The chemistry is strong between all three characters, as evidenced by their affection for one another supported by strong dialogue. But this movie is full of laughs as well, as demonstrated in one touching scene where the three of them sharing a special moment but the ever-mischievous Cat rips a silent-but-deadly fart that sends Dot and Kris scurrying for cover. As for drama, I found myself on the edge of my seat during the "too much rice" scene, and waited with bated breath to see if any broccoli would fall off the plate during dinner prep. Each character had their moments where they shined. Kris' cobwork in the shower was first-rate, and he correctly identified and analyzed a problem with the hydro-electric turbine. Dot's musical interlude was beautifully done, and Cat's tree limb climbing scene was riveting (she does all her own stunts!) The movie wasn't without its hitches as there were some audio problems, (the camera operator forgot to turn the microphone on for an important instructional piece), but that was deftly handled with a voice-over in post-production. All-in-all, this was a refreshing slice-of-life romantic comedy that we've come to expect from Kris Harbour Studios and I highly recommend it. Once again, Kris has shown that you don't need explosions, car chases and CGI to produce an entertaining movie. 5 stars.
I love you kitty!! 🐱 She’s the BEST, so adorable and loving, she melts my heart ❤️. You and Dot are a beautiful couple, living the dream & a perfect life! Lots of Blessings ✨

small recipe for your extra rice: take yesterday's rice add some ground meat to it (2 parts meat 1 part rice or thereabout). any kind of meat would do or to your preference. break an egg into it. add some chopped onion (other sweet herbs and/or spices, i.e. anise, fennel), pepper, salt, garlic. Add some butter or pork/bacon grease if you are cooking lean chicken or turkey breast meat. also can add some shredded cheese if you have it laying around. if mixture comes out too dry add some broth, or water with soy sauce. form into flat patties or small rolls/sausage links. fry for breakfast with some eggs and has-browns. this is base recipe. you can tweak it to your taste, add/omit things.

Thanks for sharing your typical ( or not so typical ) day. It's a fascinating lifestyle. As for the young cat smells - well one of ours (Keiko) was like that and still is to some extent. Her 2 sisters not so. Dot seems a wonderful person and I really enjoy harp music: that would be so restful at day's end in front of the wood-stove. I'm beginning to sound envious !

LOVED this video sir. Watching your anticipation for Dots arrival was heartwarming. You have a lovely relationship with your daughter and you are clearly proud and happy to have her in your company. Was lovely to see this video and made me feel happy and warm. Thank you.

Hello Kris, I've been watching a lot of your videos the past couple of days and I've really enjoyed them. I too love the idea of living a self sufficient and sustainable life. I'm from Boston Massachusetts but I’ve been living on Outer Cape Cod now since 2010 and it's more of a rural self sufficient setting than living in the city which kind of rubs off on you over time. I've been in the building and remodeling business since I was 13 years old and I'm now 55. I started to get really interested in this type of self sufficient lifestyle about 10 years ago after moving to the Cape and in the past few weeks I've been recovering from some bruised ribs from playing ice hockey and in that down time that I’ve needed to heal up, I’ve gotten hooked on watching a whole bunch of these videos these past few weeks. The Hydro Power with water and the solar power really interest me. I was prompted to write this message after seeing your very cute kitten pass some gas or what we generally call here in America “farting”. I have a very cute and playful dog named Simba that I feel the same way about who is very friendly and sometimes passes his own gas and acts like it came from somewhere else or is a little embarrassed about it. He is about 75 pounds and and looks a lot like a breed called a Black Mouth Cur but he is a mix with some German Shepherd in him too. As a builder myself who has done a lot of building and remodeling I love all your ingenuity, ambition and attitude. I loved your video that you published back on Mar 26, 2015 called “Why Go Off Grid” and I agree with all the reasons you stated and it’s what gives me inspiration as well. I hate paying utility bills and our electric rates here on Cape Cod are some of the highest here in America. The last I checked we were one of the top 3 or 4 States in the Country with the highest rates. I think you are on the right path and are doing the right thing while inspiring many others through these videos you are posting, including myself and I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful projects.
You both look so much better with the new camera. Thanks for sharing a 'day in the life'. That cat is a stitch. It is good to see that Dot's harpistry is coming along so nicely.
Me and my wife have really enjoyed watching the day in you life video, we love your cat she's really cute. We look forward to watching more of your videos. You and Dot both seem like lovely genuine people.
Kris, Just an idea, you should use the music from Dot playing the Harp in this video as an intro for the rest of your vids....... Your old friend Jon Worley
I must have missed so many videos. I thought I had started from the beginning but it doesn’t matter. This video so far ( and I haven’t even got to the end yet ) has made me emotional. To see the baby kitten and you with Dot and clearly so happy is amazing. You should make a dvd from day 1 so people like me can buy it and not miss one day of your journey. Sadly I will never be in the position to live my dream so I just watch yours. Much love Penny (human ) Travis ( dog ) and Norton ( cat ) Xxxx
My goodness, how sweet are the two of you! 💕 Both blessed and so nice to get to peek in on your lovely world and relationship. I certainly don’t have that.
Kris, I've worked my way through all of your videos. I have enjoyed them immensely. You do some wonderful work there and I find it interesting (and calming?) to watch. Dot seems to be a sweetheart, hard-working and kind. I can tell your little cat adores her. I don't usually subscribe to anything, but I'm making an exception here. Thank you for sharing this journey with all of us.
This is absolutely the most beautiful video, I have watched in a very long while. Thank you for sharing this. You brought more happiness to my little cabin. Simple life is the best.
Thanks for taking the time to document your efforts. Great vision and balance between old and new. Really enjoyed the journey. Learned a lot. Inspirational.
I really like this video, a simple, happy and abundant life and I just love their accents. This is one of my favorite videos. Kats playing the harp by the fire, very romantic and cozy. Keep up the nice videos.
Your little kitty is so freaking ADORABLE!! 💕 Love your life, very beautiful!!! I am sure it can be tough some days. Thank you for shaing what a day in your life is like! Love from Connecticut USA.
What a beautiful life!!! Exactly what God designed our lives to represent! Creativity fruitfulness, satisfaction with your labors! No kids? They would have the most wonderful place and parents to grow up with!❤️😊God bless you
Ah this was really nice - one of my favourite videos. Seems like all your days are not alike (seasons and weather change) so would like to see another one soon of something else :)
By far one of my favourite TH-cam channels. Such admiration for your lifestyle and the amazing work you do, it was so heartwarming to get an insight into your life. I felt content just watching your fire burn while Dot plays the amazing harp you made for her. Wishing you all the happiness.
Man, you've got your shit together! What a great lifestyle. Long hair gets easier after a difficult inbetween stage. I just hack a couple of inches off maybe once a year :) Please keep filming, Kris. Really enjoy your stuff.
It's always nice to see Dorothy, and even nicer to see you interact, you both seem like really nice calm people and are good for each other, I must have missed this video last time round.
Get on a bus and go learn how to build with cob! You will learn skills meet great people, learn to garden and get a new perspective on what is important! No need to be jelous! Just start moving!
I've been catching up on all your vids and stuff like this is my favourite. I really like seeing the behind the scenes vids as they give you a perspective on what day to day life is like for you living this lifestyle.
Thanks for sharing , i watched the house build wow what talent , love the harp build what a beautiful person you are , also once a month a lady plays the harp at the little grocery store i go to, a family owns six stores , so kool to see dot playing harp not easy but awesome to listen , peace Craig
Very nice video. I have always wanted to play the harp, I ended up playing violin. I guess since I am mostly bed ridden now I can always give it a go and learn to play the harp. Beautiful cat.
7:30 maintenance tip to get the glass clear (and see all the flames): when the fire is off, and everthing is cold: clean the glass with a wet / damp colth with a little bit of fine ash from the previous fire.. :)
thank you both for showing me your Home . the fire and the warmth you both have must make the little things in life such a joy . much love from Onslow in new zealand
That was great. You can be very proud of what you have created here. Was nice to see the buildings with the new camera. The harp you made is outstanding. Good luck to you and I look forward to following your next projects. Best wishes
Kris I have the same stove and use fire lighters and small kindling and build it up etc. Your method blew my mind. My wife and I just tried the same way you did it and voila, it worked (oh yea of little faith) you have opened our minds brother. By the way came across your channel by accident, just subbed.
Deffinitley simply amazing ..62 now & I've been in cabins we rented for a month .But nothing like this ..I'm city living & Beleive me if I'd seen vids like this 30 year's or so I'd be up in the wilderness 😂😉 I've always loved it...kind of banged up now from accidents ..Back I don't no if I could work hard no more...But I'm on your channel .& Still can DREAM ✌ Bill from pgh pa...
Thank you so much for this wonderful video of a day in your life ! I am planing to go off grid myself. There are many things to take from this, including how it is not good to attempt this alone ! Wonderful !
Just recently started watching this channel and, ya I'm hooked, been watching none stop for three weeks now, Kris is a genius, brilliant young man, and I'm so happy I've stumbled upon the channel, so happy to see everything come ease, all the hard work has paid off. Not to mention his woman can play beautiful music 🎶? wow, enough said. God bless
Clean that stove glass: every day, spit on a bit of tissue, dip in the white ash, use that to clean the glass. Done every day it takes 30 seconds and the fire always looks lovely. We only heat with a stove, have done for 10 years.
Hi Kris, I have started looking into off grid living and find the most inspiration from your channel, you show us the good and the bad! While clicking around youtube on the topic of hydro power I have noticed that a lot of turbines are mounted horizontally, I would imagine mounting it that way would put less stress on the bearings and increase efficiency? Love the videos and hope to come out and volunteer when we can get some time off!

This is the most wholesome thing I have ever watched on TH-cam. Just discovered your channel. Well done Kris!
Kris,
Just an idea, you should use the music from Dot playing the Harp in this video as an intro for the rest of your vids.......
Your old friend Jon Worley
I agree! The harp intro would be perfect! 👌🏾
Kris Harbour... I love your Great Home.... And love how much you love your kitten.... You have such a loving heart.... Never change that... 😇😇
dosent matter what anyone else thinks, do what makes you happy ;)
I must have missed so many videos. I thought I had started from the beginning but it doesn’t matter.
This video so far ( and I haven’t even got to the end yet ) has made me emotional. To see the baby kitten and you with Dot and clearly so happy is amazing.
You should make a dvd from day 1 so people like me can buy it and not miss one day of your journey.
Sadly I will never be in the position to live my dream so I just watch yours.
Much love Penny (human ) Travis ( dog ) and Norton ( cat )
Xxxx
My goodness, how sweet are the two of you! 💕
Both blessed and so nice to get to peek in on your lovely world and relationship. I certainly don’t have that.
You Are a genius, hydro electric, water running through your property, everything you build Is Lovely.
I am impressed with how well you built your home, and all by hand over time. You should be very proud of yourself. Do you grow vegetables too?
I think they are now yea
Kris, I've worked my way through all of your videos. I have enjoyed them immensely. You do some wonderful work there and I find it interesting (and calming?) to watch. Dot seems to be a sweetheart, hard-working and kind. I can tell your little cat adores her. I don't usually subscribe to anything, but I'm making an exception here. Thank you for sharing this journey with all of us.
This is absolutely the most beautiful video, I have watched in a very long while. Thank you for sharing this. You brought more happiness to my little cabin. Simple life is the best.
I am happy Dot had no plastic bags for her shopping!! Marvellous!!
Thanks for taking the time to document your efforts. Great vision and balance between old and new. Really enjoyed the journey. Learned a lot. Inspirational.
To be able to live in such a peaceful place, have such a calming life AND have found real love with Dot! You are incredibly blessed 🥲
Looks so cosy in there! What a lovely life you are building for yourselves! Love it!
I really like this video, a simple, happy and abundant life and I just love their accents. This is one of my favorite videos. Kats playing the harp by the fire, very romantic and cozy. Keep up the nice videos.
Your little kitty is so freaking ADORABLE!! 💕
Love your life, very beautiful!!!
I will be sure to do that if people want it.
It was nice to see how relaxed you are with each other.
Qué vida más sana y apacible!!
Sin problemas y en medio de la naturaleza!!
La quiero para mí!!!!
Desde Málaga(España) 💕
By far one of my favourite TH-cam channels. Such admiration for your lifestyle and the amazing work you do, it was so heartwarming to get an insight into your life. I felt content just watching your fire burn while Dot plays the amazing harp you made for her. Wishing you all the happiness.
thank you brother for the glimpse into your life and beautiful home. it is very inspiring, much love from the northern California.
Thank You for the invitation, it was a lively time to spend in Your company.
Man, you've got your shit together! What a great lifestyle.
Long hair gets easier after a difficult inbetween stage. I just hack a couple of inches off maybe once a year :)
Please keep filming, Kris. Really enjoy your stuff.
It's always nice to see Dorothy, and even nicer to see you interact, you both seem like really nice calm people and are good for each other, I must have missed this video last time round.
Cute couple ! I'm envious. Watching others live out their dreams with such enthusiasm is great.
Just lovely. The joys of simple life.
I love the way your living i wish i could do this . So peaceful and natural. You did a good job.
Thanks for sharing a day in the life. That harp is a nice thing to hear. ☺️
Livin the life
Such good vibes in this video.. Sitting here in my apartment in the city feeling all jealous :).
Thanks for sharing your daily life with us! As always your videos are amazing!!! Cant wait to watch the next one
What a lovely little day and amazing property and set of skills! All three of you exude much peace. Thanks so much for inspiring.
Thanks for sharing , i watched the house build wow what talent , love the harp build what a beautiful person you are , also once a month a lady plays the harp at the little grocery store i go to, a family owns six stores , so kool to see dot playing harp not easy but awesome to listen ,
peace Craig
Best wishes
I was wondering if he made the harp. It's so beautiful. And so sweet that he did.
Kris I have the same stove and use fire lighters and small kindling and build it up etc. Your method blew my mind. My wife and I just tried the same way you did it and voila, it worked (oh yea of little faith) you have opened our minds brother. By the way came across your channel by accident, just subbed.
Wonderful. Thanks for sharing. God bless ya and the family. Cheers
Wonderful !
Living the dream! Your channel is addictive!
100% in my top 10 TH-cam channels
Poor cat, don't gang up on him and dot. You smelly here too much, cat is so happy 😉👍
God bless
Nice to see you and your wife enjoying God’s blessings in that amazing cordwood house.
Clean that stove glass: every day, spit on a bit of tissue, dip in the white ash, use that to clean the glass. Done every day it takes 30 seconds and the fire always looks lovely. We only heat with a stove, have done for 10 years.
I think by far you're my favourite channel to watch when it comes to offgrid
Thank you dude. With all the negativity I had today, I felt like ****, then I came to your wholesome channel...feels good man...feels good
Wow what a nice life.. enjoied the harp. Give kitty a big hug from norway
