  • Ron Ananian The Car Doctor™ is in the driver's seat showing us what some of the warning lights on the dashboard mean.
Check Engine Light: The check engine light, the most important, is not about vehicle maintenance. The check engine light is very serious and should be dealt with immediately. Sometimes when the check engine light comes on, a host of other warning lights may appear also.
ABS Light: If the ABS (anti-lock braking system) light comes on along with the check engine light, this may mean that the ABS and other safety features have been disabled to prevent the engine from working harder than it has to.
TPMS Light: The Tire Pressure Monitoring System light usually comes on either because a tire is running low on air or because there is a problem with the TPMS and needs diagnosis. When checking the pressure of your tires, Ron recommends looking at the tire pressure specifications on the placard inside the door, not the number on the tire itself. And secondly, don't forget to carry a spare!
