Daoud’s Wondrous Lantern first appeared in S4 The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth. It’s light has healing properties and can cast various spells like prismatic spray, from jewels that adorn it.
A good Pic and the summary for Daoud's Wondrous can be found in the Encyclopedia Magica Volume 2 pg 637 (TSR 2152) Book . As soon as it got the the part about not finding anything I jump up and when to the bookshelf before ever looking here on the comments and found it under "Lamp". and it source it from The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth
And that info is in the top three Google search results for the item, so "I couldn't find any info on it" apparently means "I didn't look." I kinda like the outside lore behind the spell tasha's hideous laughter where a young girl (named tasha) wrote to gygax and asked him about a spell that makes people laugh. So in my campaign "broken road" while running across various multiverses and well known characters from lore including a very Shakespearian mordenkainen, a mark hamil joker vecna (who was the good guy in the situation) and a tasha based on that child, an immortal 6 year old prankster dressed up as a witch with most of the stories about being simply that, stories or jokes. While Iggwilv does exist as a alternative future (even being a patron/partner to the group's hexblade) with the kid Tasha saying they are two different people (almost treating the hexblade like a big brother). Great video
My main character is a half orc sailor who ended up becoming a unwilling Warlock of Grazzt. He has spent the last few years researching demonology and specifically trying to locate the demonomicon of Iggwilv in order to destroy Grazzt and earn his freedom. His research is inconclusive as to how many volumes there are, some sources say 1, some say six or seven. I also thought that Grazzt commanded 3 layers of the Abyss not two. My character has gone to great lengths including commissioning an extra dimensional library where he can plot against Grazzt without being spied on, he even has a ghost librarian in his service from the Tiamat campaign. Thanks for the video.

Daod's Wonderous Lanthorn is a permanent/indestructible ever burning torch item repurposed as a lantern. @@antonioiglesias427 SPOILERS She’s actually become an Archfey and goes by Zybilna and rules over the Domain of Delight as seen in Beyond the Witchlight. She also seems to be possibly edging towards becoming a good-ish person maybe (she’s currently Chaotic Neutral) as while she can still be sadistic and cruel at times, she does seem to be quite protective of children because of the emotion and potential they represent and forbids children from being harmed in her realms. It’s an interesting direction to go with her character. Will this be a permanent change? Will she return to her wicked power-hungry ways? Or will this represent a split in her character, swapping back and forth between Zybilna and Iggwilv like a Jekyll and Hyde as it suits her?
She wants to rule the Abyss? It’s weird to think she wasn’t envolved in Out of the Abyss. Or was she? I mean, Lolth never showed much interest in ruling the Abyss until The Rage of the Demons. Maybe Iggwilv was envolved?
Daoud's Wondrous Lanthorn is a magical item that uses crushed precious stones as fuel to cast light, and can burn for a century if properly fueled. It also had seven enchanted lenses originally, which could be used separately or in combination to cause the light from the lanthorn to produce magical effects, like Hypnotic Pattern, Hold, Prismatic Spray, Prismatic Sphere, Fear, Rage, and Confusion. Tasha also created an eighth lens that could produce a Slow effect. Tasha may have stolen the lanthorn mainly due to a desire to experiment on it, though it's found shining over the resting form of her daughter, who's become a vampire, so she may have thought she could modify it to cure her daughter (or improve on her daughter's vampirism). Three of the lenses have been lost, so some of the effects aren't producible without crafting and enchanting replacement lenses (the lanthorn is a minor artifact and very difficult to destroy, but the lenses are not and have no particular affinity for returning to the lanthorn if lost or stolen). Daoud's a hero-deity (basically a mortal who is lower in status than a demigod (who usually has divine heritage) but is becoming a god under the patronage of a full deity). He was a priest of Istus, the Goddess of Fate, and a philosopher-king when he was alive, then lost all his worldly possessions, but gained the wisdom to see through the pretenses of his society's principles and pretenses, and propose a new path based on brutal internal and external honesty, humility, and acceptance of fate. Greyhawk has a couple of unusual versions of godhood: 1. Hero-deities, who become the focus of legend, veneration, or great repute in life and are taken under the wing of a deity with similar interests who essentially vests them with a small aspect of their portfolio to act as a closer-to-humanity patron of that part (so, a Goddess of Fate vests a hero figure with the sub-portfolio of Humility (to accept fate), Clarity (to understand the workings of fate), and Immediacy (to act as fate wills). This is helpful for Istus, as she is a particularly aloof goddess, and Daoud gives her a more accessible aspect/helper). 2. Quasi-deities, who transcend mortality through means other than divine patronage. Usually they've traveled extensively in other planes of reality, created or interacted with powerful magic, and done other things that push their nature beyond the simply mortal. Quasi-deities, unlike hero-deities, cannot grant spells or answer prayers (unless they are actually present to hear the person praying, which is just regular listening and talking, which anyone can do). The main differences between the two are worshippers/venerators (hero-deities have them, quasi-deities may or may not, but often don't) and divine patronage (hero-deities have a deity essentially reaching down to give them a hand up toward becoming a god, quasi-deities don't, and often don't want to, have such a connection).

The whole "Grazz't was once an archdevil" is still kinda up to debate as to whether it's officially canon. Of course, DMs are welcome to tweak campaign settings to their own liking, so if you want that to be where he came from, it can be so in YOUR personal version of the D&D multiverse.

haha sorry! So originally the title of the video was "Who is Iggwilv?" but since WotC went with the name Tasha I changed it last minute. Thus when I made the video I didn't think I needed to spell it out.

I don’t think Tash birthed a vampire spawn. Her daughter more than likely born human and was turned into a vampire. I’ll have to dig out my old TSR module to check.
While her associations and interests suggest she's an evil character, what has she done that's particularly evil? She seems more neutral (selfish) as she is mostly inspired to action by what her research dictates.
As one of your first incusrion in Greyhawk, it's not bad but you missed a lot of infos on her. if you need info on the Daoud Lantern (which wasn't in her possession for a long time), how the Cirlce was killed or anything about the greyhawk characters history. 1. I love Belephoss he seems awesome and possibly a new favorite demon.
2. Where do I find more stuff like that stat block for Belephoss, is it the Dragon Magazines? If so is there anyway to get older ones?
That was part of Dragon + Magazine.
The older Dragon magazines won't be useful for 5e stats, only Dragon +
I believe all the issues of the digital magazine are available online!
@@Jorphdan thank you master wizard, for your infinite knowledge
Awesome, thank you for the information
What will be the next player book after this one? Leomunds Book of Help and Support?
Leomund's Tiny Shelf of Everything?
Points to the very module referenced regarding the powers of the Lantern.
2:06 - what is that art piece from? Its amazing!
Laughs hideously...
As always nice video!
Any thoughts of covering the book of vile darkness?
Yes! I've been researching in-game artifacts. Ring of Winter and Wand of Orcus videos came from that. Book of Vile Darkness is on my list too! And actually this Wed will be another artifact video so stay tuned :D
This is great. (was looking for a vid cause one of my newbie players asked because of the new book). Do you you have videos on Volo, Xanathar, and Mordenkainen?
Xanathar is mentioned in the Undermountain video, but not specifically. Volo and Mordenkainen are on my list of topics!

The whole "Grazz't was once an archdevil" is still kinda up to debate as to whether it's officially canon. Of course, DMs are welcome to tweak campaign settings to their own liking, so if you want that to be where he came from, it can be so in YOUR personal version of the D&D multiverse.
I wonder if Gygax or one of the other O'GMs tried to woo a girl named Natasha but her hag of a mother convinced her to find another man, thereby taking revenge upon both of them by immortalizing them within the TTRPG they wrote...
"Help I'm being adopted!" literally made my spit a little water I was drinking at the time, LMAO
I already found the spelling in the comments but was confused by the name Iggwilv that you kept mentioning but never spelled in your video, even when spelled all the other names.
Great video and very good timed with WotC announcement. Thank you for your videos. My only (constructive) critizism of this video is that needs to include Iggwilv the spelling of Iggwilv
haha sorry!
So originally the title of the video was "Who is Iggwilv?" but since WotC went with the name Tasha I changed it last minute. Thus when I made the video I didn't think I needed to spell it out.
3:55 WAIT! Is there a theory that Iggwilv might be the same person as Liliana Vess? I know WoTC owns both IP. Is this a theory?
haha no no. There is just VERY limited Iggwilv art. I have to improvise :)
Tasha in 5e appears to be a very chill and funny lady, despite also being depicted as an evil witch.
Great info. Thanks.
She’s the one who did the laughter.
Making Iggwilv Tasha was a mildly interesting retcon. Tasha's Uncontrollable Hideous Laughter was the only spell bearing her name.
fun fact I don't hear often about Tasha, is that Baba Yaga is straight up taken from Slavic Folklore. They didn't even changed her in D&D.
Gonna be using her in my home brew campaign where she’s controlling a town as later a Wanda-vision Agatha reveal will happen cant wait to see their reactions
Hey , where did you find the parchment background? :)
Did you get a tip on the release or did I just come late to the party, I only saw it today
There were rumors out on Friday, and the Internet Sleuths help me put it together. So I quickly made a video over the weekend :)
It would be great if you covered Greyhawk.
Amazing, thank you!
Excellent content
Vader kneeling to the Mouse...that gets a like from me.
She willing? gave birth to a demon hybrid & a vampire spawn? That is some sorrowful laughter subject material...
I don’t think Tash birthed a vampire spawn. Her daughter more than likely born human and was turned into a vampire. I’ll have to dig out my old TSR module to check.
@@TheTerrainWizard please do so & ty
While her associations and interests suggest she's an evil character, what has she done that's particularly evil? She seems more neutral (selfish) as she is mostly inspired to action by what her research dictates.
Her 5e statblock states that she is CN
Didn't know Grazzt fact noice.
Isn't the magical Lanthorn in the Caverns of Tsojcanth?
They need to create a 5th edition Greyhawk campaign setting.
As one of your first incusrion in Greyhawk, it's not bad but you missed a lot of infos on her. if you need info on the Daoud Lantern (which wasn't in her possession for a long time), how the Cirlce was killed or anything about the greyhawk characters history. Just ask, i've everything you need. BTW she's in the gey wastes hidding for her waaay too much powerful ennemies.
Enjoy some Greyhawk stories about Tasha: greyhawkstories.com/tales-from-the-flanaess/iggwilv-mother-of-witches/
So is Tashas cauldron of everything a module or a rule book?
It's a Rule Book!
One form away from Maiden-Mother-Crone.
So, tasha is a greyhawk characters or Forgotten realms characters?
Greyhawk!
Well done
Nice history lesson
Good stuff
THANK YOU.
Welcome!
@@Jorphdan HUH
Greyhawk huh? No wonder I've never heard of her, I'm still trying to keep mystra and mystryl and midnight straight as far as lore.
oh man, I just finished 3-year long Out of Abbys campaign a few weeks ago. Surelly, this book could be relevant then :c
Need Angel summoning rules!
It is true that the name of Tasha was derived from a girl who wrote a letter to Gygax suggesting the laughter spell?
That's the rumor, but I don't know 100% if it's true!
I wonder who’s the better femme fatale, Tasha or Lolth. A true battle of wits to be sure.
