For maximum culture shock put each piece in a different game setting. Then have somebody make a character from each of the different settings and start the campaign in Sigil.
Ive been setting up for this for awhile while i try to get better about other settings than just forgetting realms. I really want to try and trick my players, who are only lvl 5 and 6 right now into accidentally releasing Miska instead of destroying him.
Or, if you run different campaigns on different settings, have players bring their favorite PCs. In 5e where games often end around levels 10-13 it makes good grand finale campaign.
I did exactly this in my last game. Spelljammer, FR, planescape...it was wild. The final battle let one person use the rod OR have the rod corrupted and each player get a corrupted part. Players chose the latter and each became a mini avatar of a different death god or goddess to stop an almost full power Vecna
8:42 "And some things that should not have been forgotten became lost. History became legend, legend became myth, and for [a long amount of time], [object] has passed beyond all knowledge..." I salute your tribute, sir. :-)
The Queen of Chaos also created Demogorgon in one of his origin stories. He was her first creation, the very first tanari, but was considered a failure and was thrown away. She then created the other tanari that we now are familiar with and finally got the army she wanted. After the whole thing with Miska though, and the tanari's rebellion against the other obyriths, Demogorgon appeared out of no where and claimed the title of prince of demons, having grown so powerful over the centuries (or millennia or whatever) that he was able to beat down anyone in his path.
I read most of this lore many year ago in Paizo's 3.5 adventure path The Age of Worms. Not only do you get fight a god made of worms but you also assemble this rod as part of it.
This is crazy. I just started running a home brew game about law and chaos all set in forgotten realms. I didn’t know anything about the rod or anything else you talked about. The is very funny to me
I'm running Rod of Seven Parts right now, and the party is about to get the second piece. Did you custom make stat blocks for the spyder-fiends and Miska, or did you find a third-party source for those?
I've actually been considering running a campaign where _Illmater_ is trying to free Mishka, under the logic that not even a demon like him deserves a fat like being locked away and deprived of all sensory input for billions of years. The twist ending will be that once Mishka is freed, he will be so thankful and overwhelmed with joy at finally being able to see, hear, and feel again that it transforms him into a celestial named Mishka the Peacock Spider.
I refuse to GM any campaign involving this artifact. The last time I did the climax was with the party at Mountains of Madness facing the Frankenstein Monster carrying the brain of Profesor Moriarty encased in a Mi-Go cylinder and armed with Stormbringer.
So, I'm trying to run a 5e homebrew/Forgotten Realms game but I need some planar guidance...what book should I use for advice about the planes, according to the current 5e Great Wheel Cosmology? Planescape? Manual of the Planes (which edition)? Any help would be appreciated from anyone
Great stuff!! Think I might run this after we finish Out of the Abyss! The Queen of Chaos could take advantage of the craziness going on in the Underdark to make a power grab!!!
Branching off from this, if you haven't checked it out already, The Age of the Worm campaign from Dungeon Magazine begins with this very topic as the jumping off point for a massive campaign against the cult of Kyuss.
Many years ago we were playing the boxed adventure. We were at the caravanserai when my paladin was confronted by a ghost. He used Detect Evil, but found the ghost wasn't and so followed him. It was a trap and my paladin died. (A Medusa maybe?) I can't quote the text perfectly, but damn near it said of the ghost that it is, "... evil, but not evil enough to detect." Well... I wished I'd had a Detect BS power instead. As a group, we rebelled... called BS... and refused to finish.
If I ran a campaign themed around the rod of law, I think I'd actually try to include a NPC representing the rod's original wielder, surviving due to an unexpected magical side effect of the rod connecting with Miska (probably would make the wielder either unaging, or someone that reincarnates whenever a piece of the rod is found or some such).
A being name Obox-ob knows the Queen of Chaos and he wants revenge on what she did to him, also if the Queen of Chaos met the Mind Flayers things would've gone so much worse if they searched for the Ruby Shard of Pure Evil which is in peices now and scattered through different universes.
If not because they do took their time in write the place that Obox-Ob had in that war, it would have been insanely interesting that he appeared, because it would have been a posibility that he help the players in order to obtain revenge against the queen of chaos by murdering Miska the Wolf Spider.
Different subject: is there a map that shows Skullport and Waterdeep in relation to each other? Does Skullport have a physical connection to the sea at all, and if so, how does it not get flooded?
The Chaos Queen (Rod of Seven Parts in 7-part meter) 'fore the stars in ages old Chaos rose and did take hold. The hopes of men torn and bleak, Freedom from their foe did seek. The seven best, bold and bright, tasked to end the hated blight, sought to loose the demon's grip, defeat his queen, break his whip. To earth's ends they searched and found Seven parts to bring him down. The battle lost… then hero true on that day pierced evil through. Skies they fell, the rod - it split. Both were lost amid the pit. But with new hope, men bore down Chaos' hold, and broke her crown.
Wasn't Obox-Ob the first prince of demons? In any case, it's hard to say. From what I understand, Demogorgon never fought Miska, and was lurking in the shadows deep in the Abyss while Miska and the Queen of Chaos waged their war, as Demogorgon was too weak to challange anyone at this point. It was only after Miska was already imprisoned that Demogorgon finally emerged from the shadows and claimed his throne, having grown so powerful over the centuries that none could stand in his way.
I heard they might be revisiting older campaigns for 6e, and the Rod of Seven Parts was included in that specifically. Miska will most likely make an appearance in 2025. We'll see!
Nice one Jor(ph)dan... I have a suggestion for a video.... Procan . my players thought i made up this greyhawk deity of the sea: and it would be cool to know more about Procan. I find zero vids about him or her. .. . or whatever deity pronoun fits .
I want to DM the Rod of Seven Parts in the Forgotten Realms too, after a module like Storm King's Thunder or Rime of Frostmaiden. What is the official level range for this adventure, and what was the level range of your group when you DM'ed it? Did they start it at level 12 and finished at level 20?
For maximum culture shock put each piece in a different game setting. Then have somebody make a character from each of the different settings and start the campaign in Sigil.
Yep I was thinking much the same 👍
I fucking love this idea

A piece of the rod shows up in the Age of Worms campaign path, too!
You did an amazing job running rod of seven parts.
Thanks!!
I hadn't heard of Miska until the Acq Inc playthrough of Strom Kings Thunder, so this information was really appreciated. Thank you.

Ngl when I saw the Rod of Law in Fizaban’s I thought of you because of your Rod of Seven Parts game :3
This is perfect man! I was just about to add her into my campaign and explain the shard of pure evil and stuff to the party!
Running the Rod now, lot’s of fun and lore. Appreciate your insights
I just started watching the campaign you ran a few days ago so this is fortuitous timing!
So the Queen of Chaos is Ursula.
That checks out
I always saw Roseanne
Thank you for sharing this lore! This sounds super cool, and something I think I'll have to try weaving into a next campaign
Ah yes the OG reason (or excuse if you prefer) why Asmodeus does what he does!
And what... an ancient eternal battle between Law and Chaos it is! :D
About to run a version of it myself in a home brew setting! Thanks for the video and resources, super helpful!
This is crazy. I just started running a home brew game about law and chaos all set in forgotten realms. I didn’t know anything about the rod or anything else you talked about. The is very funny to me
Hi Jorphdan. Thanks Jorphdan. Have a good day, Jorphdan.
I'm running Rod of Seven Parts right now, and the party is about to get the second piece. Did you custom make stat blocks for the spyder-fiends and Miska, or did you find a third-party source for those?
I used Giant spiders and gave them pack tactics and other wolf like traits!
@@Jorphdan of course. Simple but effective.

There could be a whole campaign module just for this main goal of gathering the parts either in Greyhawk or FR or anywhere else.
I refuse to GM any campaign involving this artifact. The last time I did the climax was with the party at Mountains of Madness facing the Frankenstein Monster carrying the brain of Profesor Moriarty encased in a Mi-Go cylinder and armed with Stormbringer.
I feel like I'd like to go from my home brew world into spelljammer for this
Sweet.
A few years ago, I wrote a very gonzo short story where the Spyderfiends free Miska at the end.
Tbh, I'd never heard of Miska! Great video!

Yeeesss!
Another great vid. Also, your beard looks superb!
Why thank you!
Duuuuude is that a Dark Tower clock behind you? That is hype af, long days and pleasant nights
Hair on point today :D
So you mean there is a giant spider... who is not pulling the Strings!?
Great word play!
I enjoyed the video, thanks. Who did the art at 8:46?
That's concept art from the Amazon lord of the rings
WOtC! You have a good 150 page adventure book just waiting to be made. ;)

Love the channel..but one question?
Is the PH silent?
I really hope you talk about the newest Unearthed Arcana soon.. I cant find almost nothing about Astral Elves, Giffs, Autognomes and so on..
They're all spelljammer races :D
This is a good place to start: th-cam.com/video/EsNF9ZlMoJw/w-d-xo.html
Any chance you are DMing another campaign that you plan to post?
The crew wants to get back together, we're discussing time as everyone is busy with various projects and life.
Wolfspider reminds me about the dog(s) from The Thing

i've only ever heard of miska from lolth and that lolth killed him to gain the portfolio of spiders and the demonweb pits.
What’s the CR for Miska and Queen of Chaos? In third edition?
A being name Obox-ob knows the Queen of Chaos and he wants revenge on what she did to him, also if the Queen of Chaos met the Mind Flayers things would've gone so much worse if they searched for the Ruby Shard of Pure Evil which is in peices now and scattered through different universes.
As a Boros Monarch player, that thumbnail will give me nightmares.
I got my hero quest today :)

boom! th-cam.com/video/NkceQkYfxxM/w-d-xo.html
Enjoyed this video
This was so cool to learn thx dude

Good evening get 1 of the pieces of the Rod and send it to mount celestia!!!
Thanks for the video.
Really great vid this time well done.
Thanks!
Yes please rod of 7 parts
Thanks for the vid sir.

Chaos' hold, and broke her crown.
You have great hair. Seriously, I have been watching you for years and i can't believe i have never said anything.
Thanks! Just got it cut!
Love the wink.
is miska more powerful than demogorgon since he was considered the original prince of demons?
Wasn't Obox-Ob the first prince of demons?

The 2 Demon Lord's I wish had more info... I wish they gave me a Demonomicon in a Dragon Mag
Do you think that we'll see a new Miska module to help close out DnD 5e? Or do you think WotC is saving Miska for the launch of DnD 6e?
I heard they might be revisiting older campaigns for 6e, and the Rod of Seven Parts was included in that specifically. Miska will most likely make an appearance in 2025. We'll see!
@@Jorphdan Thanks for the info!
More Greyhawk lore!!!
I thought the title said "Misaka the woldspider" I read too many aot ;w;
AWESOME!
Is the Lolth the Spider Queen, also a queen of chaos?
Nope! th-cam.com/video/jmtDVIeiQok/w-d-xo.html
Nice one Jor(ph)dan... I have a suggestion for a video.... Procan . my players thought i made up this greyhawk deity of the sea: and it would be cool to know more about Procan. I find zero vids about him or her. .. . or whatever deity pronoun fits .
MISKA IS IN VECNA EVE OF RUIN NOW!!!!
If miska was alone on the battlefield, how were the other demons around to hear him scream?
the idea was the scream resonated throughout the entire planet of greyhawk, maybe the whole prime material plane.
Sounds like the queen would have been a better fit for Pandemonium.
Jorphdan, if you had full ownership of DnD for whatever reason, would you change anything?
yes
@@Jorphdan that's pretty vague. are you trolling me?
not really trolling, just a vague question. I would for sure change something, what I don't know, but D&D is always evolving and changing.
I started at 5 and we ended at 13 or 14 I believe.
=D
There is so much more to this story, but i guess back in the second edition, the lore wasn't that deep yet
Do Americans say things wrong on purpose?
