I like how Thundercat is all weird with his style and fashion but has the most normal looking guys in the band. Shows that he cares more about the sound than the appearance of a band, as he should.
The people who think the music of today is lacking the soul and inspiration of the 70's when I grew up, if only they could see this. I know it would inspire them as much as it does me.
The big problem is that the best music isn't being played on the radio or being promoted by the major labels. They control what gets heard and all that want to push is bullshit!!
people don’t realise that they need to search a tiny bit for good music today which is a huge problem! there’s been a huge funk and soul resurgence recently but it’s hidden behind the usual radio play. i always immediately send some good stuff to people that complain about a lack of it.

pretty sure all he uses is a octave pedal (1 up), a phaser and a really bass heavy tone
@@juno980 I think it's an envelope filter plus octavor
@@leonpensch2104 nah that's definitely a phaser in the intro friend zone
Can’t believe this guy showed up in sweat pants and a powder blue tiger t-shirt. But, of course he did.
As opposed to a pink hoodie with boxershorts?
Legend
@@RobFeldkamp are those boxers?! I didn’t even notice. 😅
That's how I take out trash 😂💙
@@rosacentifollia 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Tony Hawk on em keyss you know its firee
Underrated comment lol
Denzel Washington in incognito modus on the drums.
More like shaggy without scooby doo
Looks like Danger Ehren
@@MrSpiritualDesire Thanks, can't unsee that now
That solo sounded like the music when you’re on your last lap in Mario kart
exactly! jazz for the 80's/90's video game generation.
😂😂😂😂😂
That is modern jazz in a nutshell
I'm loving "Friendzone" .... those rich chords, those lyrics, so 'day-to-day', with such complex harmony going on.
Only two chords
that violinist is the closest thing to an ancient roman in modern day clothing i've ever seen
this
I like how Thundercat is all weird with his style and fashion but has the most normal looking guys in the band.
Shows that he cares more about the sound than the appearance of a band, as he should.
I love you all, people in the comment section. Listening to this and reading the comments was quite an experience
Camila M RELATE!
The people who think the music of today is lacking the soul and inspiration of the 70's when I grew up, if only they could see this. I know it would inspire them as much as it does me.
yeah people of that time seem to just stick to what they know and never seem to experiment with music
Ryan Donaghy it’s the kids that know what’s good lmao, i’ve switched every member of my family onto all this kinda stuff. idk who you were aiming the not knowing music bit at but i can vouch for myself since i’m studying it at a degree level
Most is...thank God for exceptions to the rule
I Can't explain how everyone in this performance is absolutely purely amazing and mind blowing.
Head to toe in his own merch. Legendary
I hope that durag video made ppl search and find his real talent
He's a big part of the album of the decade TPAB
New fan here
I love him
He is credited
New fan.
just fully listened to tpab recently, such a masterpiece of an album
I’ve been a fan of him for about 3 years. I love that he’s getting more attention he deserves it
Thundercat looks like a tiny person playing a regular sized guitar.
Cant get this outta my mind now ._.
LMAO
Ace Lee read this comment before the opening title faded away, didnt know what to expect, and now im laughing
its a bass lol but a semi hollow body so its even bigger and the he has a five string so its even bigger lol
oh wait its a 6 string lol so even bigger
Thundercat has been my fav over the few months. Each of his albums give you something different
Nobody is gonna talk about the insanity that is 5:56? That was inhuman.
Bruh but 7:57
Clearly haven't gotten to 8:53 XD
Listen to Uh Uh - Thundercat
Dem chops doe. Dayum.
he just playin scales doe
I'm actually glad I woke up this morning
agreed!
Even in a world where ministers murder golf pros?
right?? it's 6:35 right now, i go to work in 30 minutes. drinking a cup of tea, listening to this.. made my morning
same
I'll never go seeing him live 😍
“Don’t leave me out here to die”
deepest vibe I’ve heard in a minute
"If you ain't bringing tacos you should walk away"
Cant win em all
Vibe check
Came here for Them Changes - I'm not disappointed.
That laugh after “The Friend Zone”🙌🤣🤣🤣💞
Tracy Allen Somewhat similar to Ron Swanson’s giggle. Love it.
i've been searching for someone like thundercat to listen to, when i first heard his name i never expected the music he plays and it turns out im in love w everything he puts out
I just found him, and I'm witnessing talent, humbleness, and lots of fun goofying around.
This version of “Lava Lamp” penetrates my soul.
Who's here after our boy won a Grammy?
you know it! hope you have a great day, man.
i didnt even know this guy had a daughter until then O_O
his mom looks so sick too bro
Before, during and after the Grammy!
Me
Pre Grammy listener here..
hardly says anything, shreds the bass and sings like an angel, i love this man
Can't wait to see Thundercat with Anderson Paak this summer in Vancouver! We are ready for you
Maureen Teahan fuck yeah maureen. That shit is gonna be so dummy lit
how was it?
It's no wonder he keeps hanging on to "Them Changes," it must be fun as hell to play
You know a bassline is good as hell when it feels just as satisfying to play it as it is to listen to it , and "Them Changes" is one of them. You shoud haveseen people's faces when those first notes creeped int the room when I saw him live back in March. They lost it as did I and rightly so.
Why do you think it's called "Them Changes"?! Jazz-joke ;)
Be aware talent like this is what some people live for! the bass playing is unreal and the lyrics so tongue in cheek love it!
Their drummer is an absolute beast but you couldn’t really tell from this performance, if you get a chance to watch these guys live fucking do it
any drummer should be able to tell from this, but yeah I would recommend people watch another video to see him shred.
justin brown, he maneuvers the drums like the matrix and actually, you wouldn't be able to tell from this video
He goes wild on live performances of "Lotus and the Jondy." Like terrifyingly wild
link????
th-cam.com/video/GtN5k69aLNo/w-d-xo.html Enjoy!! There's even a part where the crowd just falls silent under the sheer speed/quality of the stuff they play somewhere around the 3 minute mark I believe
that bass solo in Them Changes was a crushathon
like, realtalk. just absolutely awestruck by that dude.
We need Hiatus Kaiyote.
Thundercat is such a amazing bass player.😭❤️
aren't they on.... hiatus?
CapnSMoore Really? I’m waiting so long to see them or hear new music by them.
Nai Palm just released new music, and it's pretty cool.
They look like they've been smoking in the basement for 12 years strait and this is their first time showing off their masterpiece and I love it
"If you're not bringing Tacos, I suggest you turn and walk awayy" really? xD
so real.
Don't need that negative foodless energy around 😂😂
No tacos no talk tho
@Too Cool For Cardi I never thought that 😏👉👉
My favorite line is “imma throw you in the garbage cause you play to many games”😭😭😭
That laugh at 6:13 came from nowhere and is adorable and pure
That was literally all that he had to offer socially.
Ou yeah, ou yeah
This dude walks into the studio looking like rainbow bright and then employs some serious Bass alchemy turning everything into gold.
No lie, I put this on everyday while I'm at work. But after the first 800 times, I stopped focusing on Thundercat and each time I will focus on one of his bandmates. It's amazing how a 4 piece band can put so many sounds into each song. Today was "check out the keyboardist" day, tomorrow will be "man, that violinist looks like a pottery teacher but he's awesome" day.
thank you for THE Best album of all time, to pimp a butterfly
gaydarskiy13 jjskskdjsjskdlsjehdlalapskfjsoskdjdjsjdjdkslcodjsjsjfprlwpqpwp, googled it, mind blown, he like deadass introduced jazz to kendrick (miles davis for example.......)
We seem to have quite different tastes, but might I recommend The Velvet Underground & Nico?
@@Rock-iw7ov I'll give it a listen
No doubt. Maybe greatest hip hop album and top 5 albums of all time
@@joreljebre you cant say greatest all time or top 5 in music no matter what music is 100% personal, I agree with you totally but if someone said something else ie doomsday or madvillinly I wouldn't argue
this man has 10 fingers on each hand
NuhUh.I Only see 5....Lar.
Lmao
and 10 hands on each fingers
G W that’s what she said
