    What's up cuzins? Finally, the time has come to let the procrastination continue no further and final wire my boat. I will walk you through the electrical process and show you exactly what I did, how I did it, what I used, and why. Definitely a learning curve for me on this portion of the build.
    My #jonboattobassboat conversion, the #topgunjonboat ,features a wide array of electronics. I consider this video series a combination of a step by step demo and vlog of the process. I am by no means an electrician or wiring guru, simply documenting this portion of my build as I have done thus far. Hopefully you can take some useful information away.

    Doing good work. The more organized the easier maintenance and repairs will be in the future.

      Thanks buddy. In part 2 we will get a lot more in depth and I'll show how i color coded wires jumping from switches and what not. Gotta be a clean setup w that glass window showing everything!

    great job man Im glad I found you very informative Im upgrading my fishing boat and to be honest I spend more time looking and thinking about the planning than actually doing stuff this wireing video has made it a little more easier thanks

    Good planning and some creative thinking. However, your pvc conduit looks like the ends are sharp and ragged. These little sharp edges will eventually wear through the insulation of your wiring. There is a lot of vibration on a boat and this constant, even micro vibration will cut through the insulation in very little time. Where ever you can, go back and round over the inside edges of the conduit. To those watching and planning their own projects; use grey electrical grade pvc conduit and conduit glands at the ends. This secures the wire/cables and gives them a good water tight seal.

    If you overdrill your holes, fill them with resin or bondo with fiberglass, then drill them to the proper size, the wood will never rot.

    Hey man, I live in Gainesville Ga and have learned a lot watching your builds. I’m about to start wiring my boat and I am curious on the lighting. I’ve got about 8 small white lights that have about 22 ga wire. I have duplex 14 ga marine wire and want to connect them all together so I can have one switch on my panel that will turn them on. I’ve got a 8 gang panel and a blue sea systems 12 fuse panel. How would you go about doing that? Would I just keep jumping from light to light etc with final connections at the fuse panel and the switch panel? Any info is appreciated. Thanks 🙏

    What are all your fuse sizes in the fuse box? I have plans to run the same set up don’t know what fuses to plug in?

      3 yrs ago. It sat 75% of that time though. Didn't really start serious on it until a yr ago. I only work on it about 3-5 hrs a week.

    what fuse size using for that led bar?

  • @dillontagle5647
    @dillontagle5647 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am so confused on what should be so simple. You mentioned you have almost no 3 wire connections... how are you connecting your multiple LED lights, in series? I was trying to wired 3 lights in parallel, but I have to cut my power source in order to tap in the light. So I have power in, light, and power out to travel to the next light = 3 wires. How did you connect your multiple lights together?

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      1 led positive/ negative spliced into next led positive/ negative spliced into next led positive negative. All 16 gauge connections then on the final splice connecting the sequence of lights, I drop it down to 14 gauge. So what you see me demo and wire in to the switch are those 14 gauge final negative/positive coming from the lights.

      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could also get crimp splice connectors as well. Not sure where I said it in the video in reference to but to run 3 or 4 led lights off one switch instead of running all the leads to the switch you can splice them together in sequence one by one at different points then drop the wire down in gauge to support the draw, run those wires back to your negative bus bar/ switch/ fuse box (however you choose to wire the final part, there are options)

    Is the wire marine grade? Marine gauge wire has a lot more strands than the normal wire

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. I actually talk about that and the reasoning behind it for about 2 mins in the video. I dropped down to 14 gauge though which is plenty for those accessories. Combine that with marine grade connections in heat shrink wrap and dielectric grease at terminal points, it will do. The main difference I see is the tinning of the copper in marine grade which makes it corrosion resistant from moisture. My.logic there is if you do a great job with your connections there should be no moisture getting in your wires. Also, marine grade adheres to higher temps. I mean, theres a reason for it and it's the right product dont get me wrong. Just think my job and install with regular wire is better than most would do therefore preventing issues.

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, the wire I used specifically is SAE which is not household wire, it is automotive use wire. Technically, it can be used in boats but is not to the higher standard of a marine grade. It is about 10% smaller in diameter than marine grade which is why I dropped my gauge down from 16 to 14. To avoid any issues, I will use marine grade in build 2, when I started this build and roughed things in a never knew it would get to this level or I'd be doing TH-cam videos. lol

      The custom panel box is sweet. Good job. Just got my switch panels and usb, cigarette lighter, voltmeter panels in the mail 2 days ago. I went with panels with integrated fuses and bus bar so I just run a hot and ground in then a wire out to the accesory.

      @@chipsammich2078 Nice man! So I bought all this crap back in late 17 and I've noticed a lot has already changed technology speaking and as far as product options. I'd say dont take 3 yrs on a boat build like I did and you wouldn't have issues like I do. lol. I'm excited though to actually get it working. Video 2 will be much better as I'll actually wire stuff up and install the battery kill switch.
