  • HOW TO TIE A RAPALA FISHING KNOT. Used to connect a fly or a lure and can give it more action. This knot is named after the popular lure company.
    Step1: Tie a simple knot and run the fishing line's end through the eye of the lure. Then turn it back through the knot.
    Step2: After that run three turns around the fishing line and run the fishing line's end through your knot.
    Step3: Now run the fishing line's end through the loop.
    Step4: To tighten your Rapala knot pull both ends of the fishing line. Attention: Do not close the eye of the Rapala Knot. Your bait should hang free and move free.

    Thanks for the demo been awhile and forgot this knot. I never do the last step you show because I prefer the tag end to run inside the loop just so its less likely to have weeds or slop hang up on the knot if the wraps are on the inside of the loop instead of sticking out the side.

    Nice job...thank you. My wife fishes Rapala lures almost exclusively for smallmouth bass. She loses a lot of lures (expensive here in Canada), due to improper knots....I hope she learns from your video. Thanks again.

    Just a lil bit harder 2 do with monofiliment, but its worth the effort as it does free up your lure and makes 4 a more realistic presentation!!!! Thanks man.... i actully learned something usefull today!!! Ltr!!

    I like the way you present your clip,very visible and easy to follow, other presenters use transparent fishing line which is often very hard to follow unless it is really close up.

    The knot is correct and very well made. The knot is best for when you're using lures because it allows them to move for freely, giving you better action. The issue he was having is that the material he chose to use for the demonstration wasn't smooth and was too large in diameter.
    Great knot for casting swimming baits/ hard bodies

    Thank-you by the time I tied this knot it started to rain. Maybe some fishing tomorrow. At 1.24 you should have gone over the top thats where you fucked up, later on you cut and past a diffrent knot to fix the problem look at 2.14 to 2:17. You should do it again correctly so people looking at your video will learn the loop knot.

    To anyone still looking for a good loop. Use a surgeons knot / loop but put on the lure before-hand. (feed the line through, then do a surgeons knot and push the knot down/up as much as you want and just pull it tight. Dont cut left over peice too short, maybe 1cm.

    what knot have I been tying all this time? I do the first part just like him, tie the first knot and feed through the fly/lure. then feed line back through the knot. but then I pull on the lure and the line gently, to gently snug the first knot a bit. instead of doing the twists on the line with the line end, I do another knot on the line, just like the first. then I gently snug it up, and pull everything outward, which tightens both knots on the line and also pulls the two knots together, locking them tightly against each other. it's a much faster loop knot, and it has never failed for me.

      In other words, you have very, very little experience as a fisherman. The Rapala knot is the perfect knot when using lures than wobble. The other knots mentioned in this thread don't allow the wobble action to work as well. TH-cam is free, folks. You might try using it to check out something you see in a video. Those who bothered to do this before making silly comments, or before saying they'll stick to other knots without even learning why this knot is far better for certain kinds of lures, wouldn't sound nearly as silly. Or nearly as inexperienced. There are at least eight knots every angler should know and use at the appropriate time, and for the appropriate purpose. The Rapala is one of them.

      Tie a San Diego Jam knot. Very easy knot to learn and tie quickly. Works fine with fluorocarbon. Works fine with all line types. My favorite knot alongside the palomar.
      As far as tying a line to leader knot, a uni-uni splice is pretty common and will work fine for mono/fluoro connections. You can also do a blood knot.

    • @bogdanRules
      @bogdanRules 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's not complicated at all. try it a few times and you'll get used to it. It might seem complicated at first glance. I successfully used it in ultralight fishing for chub, where the lures are small and snaps influences the lure wobble.

    • @911blackadder
      @911blackadder 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Palomar actually choke the lure towpoint, it is little bit (or much) strict the action of the lure ... You need some loose loop knot for towpoint. Or use split ring to the towpoint andthen you can use Palomar to the split ring.

    nice. the loop does not pull tight and lets a lure wag and swim. but a swivel in some cases also dulls the swim action of the lure, so it should not be in a tutorial. i think here this is for trolling a jig and the swivel in-line is meant to prevent twist. this tie is not a freshwater tie with big line so you can see, this guy means to use this line and heavy snap swiv as-is on big game saltwater fishes.

    He's got it right, just a bit cumbersome demonstrating. Palomar knot won't work, because it ties tight against the loop of the lure. This knot loop is loose to the eye of the rapala alowing it to move as engineered unencumbered. Otherwise if tied tight to the lure's eye loop, via Palomar knot, your lure is holding your line too tight as in a dance. The lure should be able to move freely and dance in his arms, not be held tight. WTF did I just say. Happy fishng all..
