I've been playing Genshin with the JP dub since the beginning but I have to admit that Neuvillette does sound a bit better in other languages. Although I still think Hiroshi Kamiya is gonna do a stellar performance.
Jp dub gives off this young genius handsome guy vibe.. While en shows maturity and wiseness... Yeah, both are applicable as a character for neuvillette

I'm not a fan of the JP voice for Neuvillette. I think the CN and EN voices are best. I do like the voice on its own, just not for this character. It makes him sound young in a way that doesn't match as well as the deeper voices.
Yes, actually he (Hiroshi Kamiya) can do deep voice too, but the Voiceover PD maybe ask him to do young voice that turn out doesn't fit for the old elf adult male character... He's actually the type of seiyuu who nails a lot of voices, but the Voiceover PD sometimes likes to lead in the wrong direction for Genshin character..
@@_lapisdei_ Maybe, but since the name of the region is literally Fontaine (fountain in French, pretty obvious), it's kind of weird to find such names, after having been told that Fontaine was based of modernized old France or some stuff. It's also weird that a lot of names are really common French names, like Xavier, Charlotte and all, but I guess it's not that bad anyways. My guess is just that they might be from a different part of Fontaine (it's pretty huge, after all) ? So that the main modern city is French and others might be more British, Spanish and other west-Europian countries. We don't really know anything about them or even the area they are in anyways, though it seems to be royal.

Same for sumeru (alhaitham, tighnari = arabic, nilou = persian, kaveh = persian/iranian). Inazuma and liyue are a lot less diverse name-wise tho (a majority of the names are obviously of CN/JP origin). Tldr - just bc the name of the region is fontaine and the setting is based on france doesn't mean all of the characters will have french names. This also applies irl bc ppl can be from any place but u may not be able to guess from their (first) name (like me!)--idk if i interpreted ur comment correctly so feel free to cmiiw!! :)
The casting for Neuvillette in JP makes me sad because Hiroshi Kamiya is genuinely one of the best VAs there is but his voice just doesn't really fit Neuvillette.
