Hats off to you Grant. I’ve been watching since I was 6 when FS17 came out. I am now almost 13 and crazy how far you have come. My parents have always said “oh that guy won’t do anything than just sit on his computer playing farming simulator all day” and now I show them how far you have come and you have your own farm. Crazy what you can do in 7 years. Hope your harvest went well!
Nice going Grant, great video! Lots of good info there, I appreciate the sharing! Nice buy on the side by side too. I don't want to say how old I am, but when I was a young teen, a farm I helped out on one summer put in lots of clay tile every year for a number of years! This plastic stuff looks much easier and whole lot faster! Thanks for posting!
Keep up the great work grant!! I’ve been watching u since u started all those years ago! I love watching u since I’ve always wanted to be a farmer! Even tho I’m from Texas I have family who farms in Oklahoma and it’s awesome getting to farm with them! I will always be one of your biggest fans!! My parents never believed that TH-camrs would be anything more than lazy but u have proved them wrong! Thank you for everything!
I was out in your neck of the country over the weekend. Sullivan auction had a sale in Illinois purchased a couple pieces of equipment to bring back to Pennsylvania. Beautiful country out there.
Nice to see more action, watching from snowy Sweden! Merry christmas Grant! 🥳 (in hills, you should have the right gear before the incline and just floor it, downshift make you loose momentum)
Awesome Grant, hey use your leg against your drawbar and implement to get your height right. Hold your hand against your jeans where your drawbar on tractor is then set implement to suit.
At 3:40 or so it looked like RPMs were around 2000 when you were saying you still pulled the hill at 9MPH, I believe that’s pretty good. I can’t remember what the manual says but RPMs can be safely lugged down lower than that.
You could get Spencer to make a mount to go around the weights so that you can put rocks, toolbox’s, and shovels on it. Could be possibly easier than switching it back and forth.
There is a nice JD 8440 down the road for sale, only 4200 hours for $30k. PTO and 20.8 34 tires. Not all beat up or faded. That would be a good addition to your operation.
Great progress on the farm. If I were in your shoes, I'd look at finding a cheap JD 630 disk for field management. Your tuned 8110 would handle it just fine.
Amazing job grant so Proud of you and spectacular Spencer also 9:24 Spencer is working on his king fu kicks. Incredible job bud. Love that. I’m sorry about the beans not working out my condolences lol 😂 you could have been rich. dang it
hey grant if you go corn on corn you really need to think about adding more than just fertilizer, like minerals and other nutrients that the crop needs that being said im confident you can make a good crop with tile and just a pass with the disc in the fall if the planter can handle it
on the military truck problems starting in cool weather could be a couple things most likely it is poor compression. This happens just from general wear and tear. One of the things to look for is if you are getting a lot of blow by out of the blow by tube if you are this motor is probably on borrowed time which means you would need to do an engine rebuild to solve the problem. The other issue that it could be is an issue with the diesel injector pump on the side of the motor. If it is due to blow by and you were using a lot of oil then it’s possible that your rings are bad which would also result in an engine rebuild . Now some engines are able to be rebuilt and some are not if the motor does not have sleeves in it or liners as they are known then it is not a motor that can be rebuilt if that is the case you just have to cut your losses when it blows and you would be looking at getting a new motor to keep using it
You guys need to get ahold of farming fixing and fabricating to see if they would help Spencer set the army truck up with a dump box. They do everything hydrolics and the lift and the box. They have some great videos with him explaining everything and why they do things the way they do. The set them up so they can slide on and off. You could make a bed for toolboxes. Just about anything.
Hey Grant. I was just wondering what map from fs22 you reckon that I could do some similar things to you? Preferably all platforms, as I play on PS4. Also, I LOVE YOUR VIDOES!!!!!!!!!
Grant, you are doing a great job starting your farm. I was told the only thing wrong with farming is you only get 50 chances to get it right. Lol wondering what camera you use for your channel, looking to start my own farming channel. Thanks for any information.
Figured the beans probably did not turn out good when you didnt show that field during harvest. We had something similar happen to us like that several years ago when we tried it. Got 1st cutting of hay off an alfalfa field then hit it with roundup and no tilled beans in late June. Drought hit and they got hardly any rain that summer and looked a lot like yours. Just turned cows out on them to graze after frost kill and tore the field up in the spring. Late or 2nd crops like that are a buzzkill if you don't get some timely rains shortly after planting.
There is a auction 22329 Chandlerville Road, Chandlerville, IL. No idea how far from you. I bet those 500p bins with floors will go under $300 each. Simple to move. Get a +24’ trailer, bin jacks, some lumber impact wrenches. Take bottom 3 rings, brace, set on trailer, drive it home.
@granthilbert, hey if you don’t mind me asking, which I apologize beforehand, (not sure the story on your rented ground,) was the field previously in brome grass pasture? Before you started farming it?
I would have done one pass to breakup the sod just so you have better water soaking than done a early spring trip to rough it up and get early grass and early grass will and weeds will grow and then right before planting hit again if weeds are growing good or spray and plant less soil erosion winter will breakup most of what the disk left
You got it! 1. As soon as ground's thawed usually starting to look at planting. 2. Most importantly it's usually wetter in the spring, and by tiling in the fall we get a freeze/frost cycle that allows the tile/soil to work better once the frost is out. 3. We do a lot of compaction while installing tile. The frost right after helps get rid of a lot of the compaction.
I actually had an article pop up in my newsfeed about Grant the other day, and he doesn't even cover half of the work he did just to get to this point. I finished the article with a great deal more respect than I already had, and I already thought this kid's gonna excel. I think "quit" is a verb he fundamentally doesn't understand.
I'm actually a teacher. Thank you for correcting my comment. In an environment which should be an area of free speech. Much appreciated. "Quit" used flippantly as a term to express Grants delay between his current and most recent post. Happy holidays, or merry Christmas 😉

when does american farming going to come out?
Late 2022. At least from what I’ve seen. If you watched his live stream he also said it would be around the $6 Mark or lower.
Not 2022, will be in 2023. Have not said exact date, and the game will be under $10. Not sure on exact price yet👍
