I'll be honest man, knew the outcome of this video before I started it. Kinda par for the course with Nerf/Hasbro. All style and no performance. They bank on brand recognition and collaborating with other recognizable I.P.s. They've only RECENTLY released a performance blaster and it was a suped up Stryfe. @@rocketcoffinstudios Again, what's so amusing is the companies who up to a few years ago were seen as the bargain bin jokes to Nerf are now making better designed shells and performance line blasters that out perform Nerf in every way. Hell, even Zuru Toy's X-Shot series who are late to that games took a crack at it and wiped the floor with them. The only thing keeping Nerf around is it's still popular with kids(fair), makes blasters adapted from other franchises, and is a more recognizable brand. Game wise though, lot of people veer away from them if they can.
Just as an addendum, the colour is Bess Brown or Brown Bess (a WW1 colour for a lot of British armaments), depending on your reference. Not Olive Drab like most people believe or remember. And yeah, they kinda sh@t the bed on this one. Very much like the Halo M40 (sorry if I got that derivation wrong or confused). They both need rewiring if you want something for performance. Otherwise, fantastic for cosplay
And it’s so funny because it’s very obvious once you know to look for it, but yea I always misremember it as olive drab. Like when you look at my colonial marine the pulse rifle blends into the camo on my armor because I used the olive drab. But yea it’s unfortunate the performance on the limited line has been so lackluster. Nerf really doesn’t do performance stuff. Like when they made the mandalorian sniper rifle thing and it shot like 5 feet 😂
@coffinstudios Unlike the comments about this kind of performance being unusual for this particular blaster, I can confirm to never ever having heard anything good about the mandalorian rifle's performance ;-) EDIT: For what I see, the Bobba Feet blaster (a springer) seems to have actually quite good (for a stock blaster) performance. It's just the LMTD flywheelers that are lackluster.
I’ve been lurking to try to find out, what’s the deal with the Neon Saibaman cut out to the left of the Frankenstein’s monster? That thing is awesome and I wish I had one to use as a Nerf target!
Thank you! That is actually the meta-Luna mutant from the sci fi movie “this island earth”. I did a bunch of sci-fi and horror themed foam plaques. Same process as people that make wood signs, I just did it with foam floor mats and hot glue. I used construction paper and markers to get his neon color.
For the record, I strongly think you (or rather, the thing's owner) got a lemon. My own M41A has never, ever jammed, its flywheels sound... quite louder, and is consistently able to hit with standard Elite darts an -alien- human-sized target at that 25-30 feet range -which may not be impressive, but is not as pathetic as the featured blaster's performance. It's quite likely that your customer's blaster had defective motors, which would explain the constant jamming.
I wonder if this would make a good modding platform. If it can take Rapidstrike internals and new motors, it would be a great starter for an Aliens themed blaster.
@coffinstudios There are videos around putting enhanced motors that give it quite decent performance, allow it to load standard clips, and even a VERY simple mod (cut the small tab of the trigger that prevents pulling the trigger without revving) so it can be fired (empty or it will jam) without drowning the sound effect (for prop purposes). There's even a gide of which pin of the thing's board to wire a LED so it lights up a muzzle flash with every dart fired. So, yes. LOTS of potential.
It sucks that Nerf is too shy to put out genuinely competitive level blasters. They let RIVAL die off, HYPER sucked, even the GelFire stuff is meh. The Stryfe X is promising, but it only came to be because OutofDarts basically begged for them to make it. I myself got the Destiny Gjallahorn, which while it left me wanting more, wasn't nearly as disappointing as the Aliens rifle. What's your protocol on sending you things to mod/paint? I'd love to send you mine if you wanted to put out a review on that blaster
Yea it’s a shame nerf is being so timid about expanding into more competitive stuff. As far as sending stuff, this was for a commission, I usually do around 100-150$ for paint jobs.
