Great review my blaster brother. I've had my Maxim for about a month and have put it through some serious time played. I needed it at 130fps as that is what my local battlefield requires so a 2s out of the Omnia and a pcar worked. The pcar did not help accuracy but while spamming on a 100 foot zone it really didn't matter.
When i was stateside a few months ago, i was really wanting to pick one of these up for my nephew. sadly it was a few weeks before the release and there wasn't a walmart close to my hotel anyways lol. great performance out of it, though, and really good price. that distance test was crazy too.
@@SSJChar yeah, if i had a blooper reel, you would see me looking around the curb, searching the grass, scratching my head for a few minutes before looking up at the tree and giving it the bird when i saw the orange tip in a cradle of branches. I was not expecting it to go 185 ft.
Another great review and good to see you being more mobile. And the range test...the Maxim Pro fires darts a TREEmendously long distance! (< Sorry had to say it). p.s. not sure if I've mentioned this to you yet but I have finally picked up the X-Shot Pro Longshot and am loving it so far (it has the later production date on it so should have the thicker plastic plunger tube...hopefully) Thanks again.
I see the dad-jokes are strong with this one. Most impressive. lol. I swear, I'm going to have to make a blooper edit so people can see me look around like an idiot for 5 minutes before realizing it was stuck in the tree. lol.
Two mags seems to be mandatory for a pro level flywheeler. I'm gonna have to figure out how to get this down to hvz 120-130 fps levels, it's too sweet to pass up.
120-130; ideally it would be a 42.5/43 mm crush cage. Using Half lengths, that should put you close. And yeah, 2 mags would be ideal, but with how readily available talon mags are, the fact that it came with one is not a deal breaker for me.
I'm newer with my "adult money" so I didn't even know about nerf modding or what the stryfe was to the community... So to OG's the stryfe is the GOAT but to modern gamers wanting to get some IRL action and exercise... The stryfe isn't on our radar
Not to be “that guy” but the Stryfe should always be on everyone’s radar for one reason; at 10+ years old, the Stryfe is almost guaranteed to make an appearance at any nerf meetup, be it someone who is new to the hobby or an old timer who brings one out to show off their latest cosmetic modification. And then there is Stryfe-X which does exactly the same as the Maxim. That is the one that is now irrelevant for Pro Nerfers imho. Why pay $100 when $40 gets you the same thing without proprietary battery requirements? Either way; i’m curious to know what the future holds for both blasters.
Foam After Dark podcast on Spotify does report on Maxim Pro getting wonky while using AA batteries but goes back to normal operation after leaving it alone after 10 mins. They theorize the lower voltage may have something to do with high crush flywheel operations getting lower voltage puts extra work on the motors and thereby heats up the PCT board thermistor above what is nominal and shuts it off, then allowing it to cool allows the thermistor to open back up and operate again. The 2s "lipo" (not a true lipo, it's two 18650 batteries sandwiched together) included has no issues, making Foam After Dark theorize the higher voltage puts less work on the motors so less work equals less heat for the thermistor not to shut off, which may be why it operates normally with the included 2s battery.
@@MrAjusog wait… it has a 2s lipo included? Or are they referring to the imr equivalent from the omnia/venom? Because mine did not come with a battery pack at all. As for the wonky performance in AA; i believe it. The concept of this blaster is for it to be geared towards mid-to-advanced knowledge nerfer and most of us run lipo / imr because of the motors used in the hobby. I theorize the battery AA option was left in there as a way to put it on the shelf and let the people who are afraid to use lipo’s be able to buy and use it as well.
@@botsnblasters Ahh! gotcha, thanks for clarifying. For a moment I thought I might have thrown something away without realizing it or... someone snagged something out of the box (because people of Walmart gonna be people of Walmart).
While the Stryfe-X feels sturdier, the Maxim isn’t lacking in quality, lets not get it twisted. Stryfe-X uses 180 motors but with advances in motors, the 130 size motors can and will outperform them (see my Stryfe video) so Stryfe X wins no points or loses any in that way. Battery though, definitely have to disagree. Stryfe X’s battery is neat and the fact that it is USB-C charged is cool but ask yourself; when that battery dies (as all batteries do eventually die), where are you going to get another one? Hasbro isn’t selling them; whereas i can get a 3S LiPo off of Amazon for less than $20. Looking at those things (and understand i own a Stryfe-X and like it) if i didn’t have either blaster and saw them on the shelf side by side; the $40 blaster wins any day of the week. Though the motor issue has me curious to find out the specs of the Maxim’s motors. What RPM do they have and will if perform better with Fang motors.
@@SecondHandBlasters only said that cause after 3 mags, I have to put down maxim for 10mins, even using AA batteries... both are awesome, wish dart zone would just make a top end fly wheeler or aeb

This blaster is cool.
Yeah, it is definitely a worthy addition for anyone looking for a solid, affordable semi-auto flywheeler.

@@SecondHandBlasters Yes I second this idea and maybe you could upload it for a "Holiday Special" viewing?

Think of the Stryfe as the Honda Civic of blasters.

Strife x is way better quality, and has bigger motors, better battery. But is also 120 bucks vs 40
