I grew up with these games. Very few games accomplish an atmosphere of isolated exploration as well as those first two games. I hope people appreciate this release.
Well said
Tr3 the best out of the three in my opinion tho
I never had the pleasure of playing the original so I'm going to be very excited to play it
Well enjoy it my dude it's an absolute blast and a head scratcher in some cases 😁@@adamcourtney9796
Lots of complaints about its remaster treatment being bare-bones. I think it's a deliberate decision. We don't need these games to feel and look totally modern. Play the other, newer Tomb Raider games if you're looking for that. Plus, tank controls only take like 10 minutes to get used to. It's super satisfying to learn the whole puzzle-platforming-geometry of these games. It provides a refreshing change of pace from all the usual action-adventure fare.
There may have been even more complaints had the games been completely reworked. The games were designed around the tank controls and the feel of the originals would have been lost if they had a modern-day control system.
Completely agree, modern controls will take away the original experience of what tomb raider was
Yep this is all they needed to do
Okay well im struggling with the controls just as much as i did as a child
I think there's a point where too much modernization actually impacts a lot of what the original tried to be. I'm feeling that with Persona 3 reload.
7:43 I think this is just because as frustrating as they are in themselves, these games were literally BUILT around tank controls.
Everyone wants an autosave until it puts you in an impossible situation. Thats something little me learned the hard way growing up on these games
Yep! Even manual save for the OG games may have required 2 slots just to be safe incase you encountered a bug, lol
@@melindamercier6811 Temple Ruins in 3 and all of Luds Gate are notorious for it
KOTOR and Witcher come to mind on recent switch play throughs! 🤣
Accidentally save as you start getting hit by an enemy and didnt heal so now you have a save thats just instant death.
Autosave for such games is totally wrong. U will never be able to go back once it gets screwed up. Manual is very useful if u get used to it. Quick save is a better option for sure
I must not be the only one who actually LIKES to MANUALLY save my games. Not necessarily only in save points or using some limited crystals (or ink ribbons). But it gives me comfort that I made progress and that I surely played the game the way I think was best. Also manually saving is so rewarding when you happen to save just before you die / fall of a cliff and can happily just load your game a from there.
Oh I love manual saves! Autosaves would be awful with a game that relies on supply management. I just don't like the way it is organised and think that needs patching, so many times I have loaded instead of saved, whoever organised those pages didn't think that through 🙄
@@charliefen that is from the original game design, one in particular didn't have the save whenever you want, so when you went to the book you only had the load option, but two they integrated the save whenever, and it was the same design, I particulary like that way, cause then if u want to save, u have to pay atention and you don't aciddentaly save instead of load... you could load instead of saving, but it's usualy less painful than saving when you might be dying and u wanted to load the game e.e (And oh, this can happen, my aunt who introduced these games to me, she did it more than once, and it was painful specially when we might be at the end of the level)
@@charliefen I've been playing for 5 hours and not once made that mistake. All it takes is a basic reading ability to see that it says "load game" and after a while it just becomes muscle memory. Personally I prefer load game being the default selection purely because I find I load my save more frequently than make a new one.
Also on the topic of manual saves, they basically work like save states. Since when you reload, you instantly return to the same spot you were at when you made the save meaning you can cheese it at certain points either to get through some combat with more health or to save having to re-do entire jumping puzzle segments if you fall. that's far more intuitive than auto saving could ever do.
@@BlaizeTheDragon oh I know all of that with save states and all, that's fine by me and I like that, but I do think it is the wrong way round still. I have never seen a menu have load before save and, considering he has done it and so have others, it is obviously an issue. I know it is a reading thing, but in the height of a game, you don't always tend to think. It is generally when I have gone to quickly save after a difficult part (and I am in Greece now, if that helps, so done a bit but I have had work on) that I find I've accidentally pressed load. It is just not a normal way round for games, if you look at menus now. I commented it on my own elsewhere when he said it at 5:08 and the likes agreeing, as well as seeing someone else do it in the heat of a moment in a stream... sort of a relief to see it isn't just me! 😅 I don't want autosave, but if the amount of comments I've seen with the same issue are an indication, I'd like that patched xD
depends on the game imo
With the saving.. If you die you can still restart that same level. You don't have to go back to a save on a previous one.
But you can't revisit the levels you finished.
There are more than enough Save Slots available to create a save at the start of each level so that you can replay your favorite levels anytime you want to.
Going to Croft Manor to "re-learn" the controls, if just to learn how the games work, makes such a difference. For one, you need to unlearn modern sensibilities, and get a feel for how they were doing things back in the day. The other, it allows you to practice jumping, which it does teach you in spades, which makes foinb the levels much less frustrating.
I played on modern controls, but even then, it just gives you 360 degree movement; actions like jumping and grabbing ledges are still done the old school way. Every little thing requires an additional input.
True. I spent over an hour to properly complete all three training courses (each game) in the manor.
I eventually regained my familiarity with the tank controls and it feels good to be able to confidently maneuver Lara around.
Tank controls are only way to play these games.
I couldn't do modern. I tried and immediately had to go back to the tank controls. It just doesn't feel right
The original controls are perfect.
True
The game was made around the tank controls so the modernisation is just.. wrong
I played them back in the day and tried the modern controls yesterday and while I like the way she moves and the camera moves better, they are almost unusable to make her do any of the more complex actions. Also speaking of action, I couldn’t get the damn action button to work ever in modern controls. Not once. So I went back to tank and much, much better. I don’t recall the controls being so infuriating in the 90’s…
The solution to the issues with the modern controls would be to give you the option to map the tank controls to the D pad. That way maneuvers that work better with the tank controls can be done seamlessly without having to toggle menus.
Camera also gets super buggy and even stuck in the very tight areas. They need fixed angles over pits once you fall in if there aren't spikes. Yes. The side jumps during combat need to be worked into the modern controls better. They are a necessary staple.
All the new players wanting auto save. The manual save system is one of many that makes this game great. Playing this is bringing so much of my childhood back.
Why?
@@DragonNexusWhy what? Elaborate your question.
@@Aaron_1192 Why is a manual save great compared to auto save.
I hope we get Tomb Raider 4 through 6 Trilogy
Angel of Darkness, and Underworld, but mainly Angel of Darkness.
they would need to remake 6 AoD not just remaster that
@@whitewolf3051Underworld is fine as is; The Last Revelation, Chronicles, and preferably a working version of Angel of Darkness definitely deserve it though
Wow, have gamers become so mollycoddled that they complain about having to manually save? In the original, you had to save at specific points by finding crystal shrines! Manually saving is easy!
Modern gamers: wait i have to make the jump? This is absurd! Who do these devs think i am a gamer?! I want my 60fps 60KHD cutscene and maybe a quicktime event! Is that to much to ask for?!
Yolpbasedcoockingboomertiktokskibodiypilet
Can I correct you slightly? You are half right. The original could manual save but only on PC. The PS1 version had to put in save crystals purely due to the limitations of the console and memory card. So manual saving is nothing new and not something these devs came up with (and also why I'm a bit annoyed they didn't tweak it slightly, I like that they used the PC ones for this reason but they could have swapped the pages round, I keep accidentally pressing load instead of save 😂). It has always been part of the game, they just made it available to all now. They also added the extra levels that weren't available to PS1 players before either.
I hope this remaster would give way for Aspyr to remaster the second trilogy (TR4,5,6) as well as the Legends Trilogy (Anniversary, Legend, Underworld). Like, I want more classic Lara Croft, not some bullshit that Crystal Dynamics is doing.
Legends Trilogy was made by Crystal Dynamics.
@@MatysiakG i'm talking about the reboot trilogy that Crystal Dynamics is making lol. Majority of the fans wants the Classic Tomb Raider, not the modern take of it. Besides, CD doesn't know the real meaning of "Tomb Raider". They believe that Lara Croft is a "protector of artifacts" when it's literally the opposite lmao. She steals artifacts for her own benefit lol
Do the sales lie?
👍👍
@@michaelrobosa146 That's why it's an origin story. She's pretty much a rookie in the reboot trilogy so she doesn't realize she can pretty much take what she finds.
In retro controls Lara only jumps during certain animation frames while running so if you’re having trouble jumping Jon try mashing the jump button while you’re running. She’ll jump at the end of the ledge.
Don't mash. To jump effectively walk to the edge of the platform. If you hold the walk button Lara will stop just before going off. Press back once. Then you hold forward to run, as soon as you hold forward hold the jump button and Lara will jump off at the very end of the platform, allowing you to get maximum distance out of your jump.
Tomb Taider was my first PS1 game. I remember it came in an oversized case
5:08 Thank you for mentioning load and save being the wrong way round! I thought I was the only one who noticed this. Maybe it was in the original (I don't know, I play the PS One, we have save crystals) but that should have been changed in the remaster. Who honestly thought that was the right way round? I have accidentally loaded a game instead of saved several times 😅
I'm unsure about adding autosave though, the reason being the way medipacks are spread around. I don't want to use one, the game save and then find I shouldn't have. So we need balance.
Believe me, it is WAY worse to accidentally save while trying to load than to accidentally load while trying to save. You can simply ruin your entire progress by accidentally saving right before an inevitable death if you don't have a backup save (which I would bet most people wouldn't have)...
@@GabrielSanches20 I guess so, although honestly I am that person who has a backup save. I'm the person who saves twice when I know I've had a good run (full health, good amount of medipacks etc). That is a habit that has taken me through into recent games, so even like playing Persona 3 Reload, I'm saving twice, so now have those two plus the autosave and network save it has implemented. So four? 😂 Old habits! So I have the issue he has described in the review here and someone further down in the comments mentioned it too, as well as another review, so part of me wonders if it will be patched. It just feels very more outdated than the controls, a save page always comes before a load page in every other game I've come across, that's why I think so many are having this issue. I don't think many will mistakenly save instead of load.
I was too busy playing the Nintendo 64 back then so this will be a first for even me
I think the remasters are fantastic and I am kinda shocked people are having issues with the no autosave. Geez man back when tomb raider 1 released on ps1 you had a save crystal and that was it. You saved there at that point and if you failed you were sent all the way back to the crystal (which I miss btw as it added so much frustration but also tension to the game) but here you can literally save as much as you like whenever you like and still that's not enough. People want the game to do the thinking for them too so they dont have to remember to save. I am glad there is no autosave tbh. I love these remasters as they are and my only complaint is no option to use original save systems especially for 1 as thats probably my fave. Cool review all the same though and everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion :)
NG+ has crystals for saving on tomb raider I
I know, the only reason those aren't here now is that they were forced to use save crystals originally (they weren't an intended feature, the ps1 could not manually save due to its limitations and reliance on the memory card) and this is a remaster of the PC version, which didn't have those restrictions. The PC version could manually save 😊 but I agree, autosaves would be an issue too where resources are scarce and you may use one you regret later.
@@charliefen Thats news to me. How come you could save wherever you like on tomb raider 2 on ps1? In TR1 you had save crystals, 2 was save anywhere, 3 was consumable collectable save crystals. Regardless I love the remaster. :)
@@Terron29 yes, that has always puzzled everyone and I don't think the devs have ever said officially as to why. My best guess is that they found ways to optimise the games better and utilise the hardware? I did do some reading online, as I'll admit I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to these things, and what you don't have you never miss of course. Those who had the save crystals miss them and those who had the PC versions can't stand the idea of them (or at least that tends to be the case most of the time). So I think they somehow figured out a way of developing the game in line with how it should have been (aka the PC version) in Tomb Raider 2 for consoles too. However, people complained that the save crystals were missing in Tomb Raider 2. Of course, on PC nothing changed so there were no complaints there. So to compromise but try to make it a bit better they brought them back in a way in Tomb Raider 3. That's my best guess. The only thing they didn't manage and what is here throughout is the extra PC levels - so enjoy those! It is great that everyone can play those now. Again not new, but not something they were able to put out at the time, I guess they were the original DLC if you think of it that way!
Again, this is all theory based on what I've read. I can't find anything concrete online. If anyone has, please let me know! This goes the same for the Sega Saturn too, although I believe the amount of save crystals differ due to the storage space? This was also around the time I was born and I spent my early years playing Croft Manor and then the main game itself, watching my dad play it etc 😂
@@Terron29 if you want to see something weird, look up a original walkthrough online (I find the Stella ones are good for this as they highlight these). It is funny they say at points 'if you are playing on PS1 you will see a save crystal around the corner here'. Okay, I think I'm too into this, sorry for the mini essay! 😅
Any word if Super Rare or Limited Run is doing a print run?!?!?! Or any physical?!?!
"We have not made any announcements about a physical release for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered." is the official response about that, tho there have been rumors of online listings for it
Its out there now
I highly recommend not using a guide while playing Tomb Raider. If you get stuck, sleep on it and come back to it the next day. The satisfaction of figuring out where to go is a big part of what makes these games fun.
I used cheatbook- walkthrough back in those days 😅
jumping while running is supposed to take „a tile“ - so if you‘re moving, you need 1 tile of space and to hold it until she jumps. that jump goes 1 tile further than without running.
I never own a PlayStation 1 or 2. The PS3 was my first PS console. So I missed out on these games. I’ll pick this up when, if ever it is released physically.
Playing this on Steam and loving it.
4:58 not sure if you meant if you beat a few levels and then die you thought you had to load your last save file even if it was a level behind, but that’s not the case. If you start a new level and get a bit into it but forget to save, when you die just scroll to the right when you’re on the load file screen and there’s an option called “Restart Level.”
Yeah I'd highly suggest playing through the games in order rather than game skipping. TR3 assumes you've played the previous two and know everything about how it works, so it's less user friendly and starts with sprawling levels rather than slowly growing them out to be that (which TR1 does).
Agreed. However, TR3 was also developed with the official strategy guide in mind, as it would tack on an additional $24 in sales to every purchase from a frustrated player who couldn't figure out how the hell to get out of the London Subway. 😂 3 is still my favorite of the trilogy, though.
I could see autosave in classic TRs potentially soft-locking you depending on how you've been managing your resources (unless it keeps all your autosaves on record and allows you to choose which to load from)
100% always use the tank controls for these games. it is how they are meant to be played. You will have a much better time if you just commit your self to learning the tank controls.
I never thought that manually saving would be a problem for most people... but maybe that's because I play a lot of RPGs and saving manually is basically a core mechanic.
I remember this from the Sega Saturn, I was in complete awe and played it for days to beat it. We didn't have all of these forums then to help us with the puzzles and I was stuck figuring them out. It was awesome.
Hope they release The Last Revelation also.
Angel of Darkness, and Underworld, but mainly Angel of Darkness.
@@whitewolf3051you can't fix AoD. AoD wasn't finished and pushed for release because of the movie and was originally meant for PS1 and switched mid way to PS2 and was plan not finished.
Why Underworld? Legend was better(in my opinion).
And CD won't do it anyway as they hate OG Lara and the Lara from Legend to Underworld is close to OG Lara, so they won't do it.
Unless Embracer hands it to some other studio, just like this remaster.
If they want a re release of angel of darkness then they better deliver the version that they wanted to do back then and not this unfinished garbage we got last time.
Tomb Raider 's modern controls are an absolute travesty.
I would have been 10-11 when these games out. Honestly, I remember watching my friend playing TR1 after school on the PS1. I remember giving Tomb Raider 1 a shot on a Friday night after school myself. But got bored of it. Played TR3 demo a few years later in 99 and remember it really well. Fast forward to today and I have completed TR1 in 2022. I would say original Tomb raider was something best enjoyed as a matured gamer. Though remembering it way back in 1997 it was the water and music which I remember the most. Fact missed by many of us - you will as you get older remember things which are bright, vivid and musical over dull games.
This is my first time playing Tomb Raider. I never had a Playstation. Oh my god, you are not wrong about the controls. The modern controls are better for just moving around, but the tank controls are better for everything else. I had to go to reddit and look because I legit thought my game was broken. Now I know I will get used to it and it be fine, but if I put it down for maybe two months and come back I may have to start over because the controls are not intuitive to me. But I do think I'll have a fun time. I was always jealous of people who got to play these games because they just always sounded like something I'd like. Also, is anyone else unironically a fan of the movies?
I would say the best thing about these games and one thing I wish more would do (and will prevent you from having to start over) is having Croft Manor to practice everything. I wish more games would have practice levels! They are really worth doing and pretty fun exploring in their own right. The amount of times I have put down a game due to being busy and then come back and been overwhelmed or stuck just due to forgetting the controls, why do more games not do this? So I really would advise you to use that 😊 plus they are just great fun, especially the second and third ones! No real danger or anything. I actually didn't even really play much of the proper game as a kid for ages, as there is no time limit for being in the Manor, so my dad let me spent ages running around, think the controls are ingrained in my memory now 😂
Oh and I like the first two, although the first is my favourite! Even saw Hatfield House (Croft Manor), which is beautiful. Not a fan of the reboot.
Tank controls are ok 🕹️ and modern controls are good 🎮 i have play this game now for hours on switch whit no big issues, you just need to get it, its a grid platform game, not mario 64, and to avoid camera issues use the walk button time to time and rotate the camera as you run so always look front as much as possible, it takes time to get it.
They need to fix the modern controls especially the jump forward action
just use 'tank controls' the game is made with those in mind anyway
Your main problem is playing with modern controls in the first place
So pleased this is getting a UK retail physical release in September that doesn't involve Limited Run! Awesome collection of games
I love this trip down memory lane. I remember when these games were new and I have to say that these games are marvelous. I just love old school games. They are hard and really make you work for the win. I’m tickled pink and eager to repurchase these games when released as a physical copy. Til’ then, I’m glad to play them digitally.
Biggest issue is not the modern controls, it is the camera. It makes ur character go in wrong directions and u can't stop it. It created a huge extra layer of difficulty over the already existing precise requirements of jumps in many cases
This is the Lara Croft that I know and love and have missed since like 2008. The new games were a lot of fun but they were just missing the charm that this iteration of the character brought to the older games.
Honestly, considering the remaster visuals make this game look like a colorful mid-Jen PS2 game. I think the switch is the best platform to play this song. I don't really need this to be running at 4K on PS5 or series X or some nice gaming rig. They did such a great job performance-wise on Switch with this remastered. It has a nice consistent frame rate and the load times are pretty much instantaneous. It really makes me wonder how some ports of older games tend to perform so poorly on switch sometimes
Mostly though, these are such chill games, they can be incredibly difficult but I always find them to be relaxing to play between all of the exploration with the beautiful soundtrack in the background. So playing this game bundled up cozy in bed on the switch is fantastic.
I hope this sells well enough that maybe they'll do the same treatment for last revelation. Even though Chronicles and especially Angel of darkness were pretty bad, I really liked the fourth game I thought it took that large exploration-based gameplay to the maximum
But either way it's awesome to see this collection. What I really hope is that they are putting the franchise back out there to get a little bit of word buzzing about the franchise again before they do something new with it.
I got last revelation on steam a couple of months back and was absolutely gutted that it had no controller support at all. I can deal with tank controls just fine but you couldn't pay me to use a keyboard for these games.
Future patch updates wanted:
-The classic TR style should been in 60fps (the classic versions looks to blocky and upscaled)
-The game should had light and gamma settings included. The old style is looking way to bright,, and many of the dark areas (light) are too dark in the remastered style.
-The water & mud effects could have been better. (just have a look on «Openlara»)
-The blue original crystal save-boxes should have been a option in the menu settings for TR1.
-The control scheme for modern style is not yet perfect.
-Some of the the game characters looks to slick and pretty, (could had a more rougher villain look.)
-Still the best updated way to play the original TR1 is Xproger`s version of «Openlara» (better controls, updated 60fps framerate, watereffects, etc, etc, etc)
Much better review of these classics here. Aspyr Media along with some community fans and OG devs have put real care and love in these remasters and a few nitpicks doesn't distract from what are three true iconic must-play games in my opinion. It's great to see the real sassy, beautiful, confident Lara Croft character again :-)
This needs a physical release
I wish we could play the game with save crystals as an option from the beginning, thats how I remember the game as a playstation player. It changes the game totally. In every way. The accomplishment, how I think, the happiness, the tension, everything. The tears, of course, frustration yes, but thats part of the game 😂
I'm sure it will get patched 🤞
Because this game is absolutely brilliant 10/10
Hell yeah I'm excited I'm buying my first Nintendo switch next week when I get paid my first ever Nintendo system i ever personally owned I've played PlayStation my whole life since the first one came out in 96 and i love all the original tomb raider games I'm homeless so i can't play my beloved PS5 so i have to settle for the switch but it's ok because i can play this awesome games and i just found out that the switch has dark souls to so when I'm alone and lonely at night in my tent i can lay back and play this classic games that's very comfortable to know that i can't wait till i get paid
Does someone know how to use the photomode? I've been trying to find how to even access it, but I can't figure it out....
If you're using a controller, click both analogs at the same time ; )
@@mikew2252 Gosh, thank you so much, my hero!
This was me yesterday, I was looking everywhere but the toggles lolol.
If you are playing on PC.
You will need to map a button for flares, as there isn't one.
Only two minutes in and it's way better and more comprehensive than the last review I saw!
I’m loving the original tank controls, always loved the planning of steps, slow thoughtful gameplay, all the latest tomb raider games with modern controls were sooo easy I actually got bored of them :/
Haven't started playing yet (still got an hour of work left and yesterday was valentine's day). Played on PC and 3dfx back in the day any keyboard so the Switch should be a step up, even compared to the originals in DOSBox on a modern PC. If I remember correctly, jumps needed to be timed with where your legs were. In 99% of modern games, you can just jump regardless of where your legs are. IRL you can't just jump mid-stride. Your feet have to be aligned to properly jump. I will be playing soon. I hope this is still like the original.
Tomb Raider 1, 2 and 3 is a classic. I am glad they kept it the way it is with just a touch of remastering.
Why didnt Goldeneye get updated graphics ? This is not even an original Nintendo game and they could upgrade it. And no, Nintendo doesnt own the Tomb Raider name either, in fact this series was never released on nintendo 64.
I love how we all used to lock the butler up in the freezer.
Nice to know they're remastering my childhood games I had the most fun with 1 on the PS1
I only tried these games briefly during their time, so I'm not sure if I'll enjoy them without much nostalgia for them. I love the Indiana Jones/Uncharted style, but I don't think I was too impressed with the TR gameplay even during the 90s.
Non, no quick saving. Part of the charm is the manual saving. If you can't be patient enough to see what you're selecting on the passport menu then that's on you. Be more attentive.
Strange that they chose to remaster the original instead of bringing Tomb Raider Anniversary to Switch. Anniversary was such an awesome game. But I’d get this for TR2 and TR3.
Love you guys thank you for keeping us up to date with new releases & game news ( would love updates about the amiibo release dates when they come up
I will never forget the first time playing Tomb Raider on the PC with a 3dfx Voodoo graphics accelerator. It was magic. I agree with Alex, the original versions of the first and second games were brilliant, but the third left me very disappointed.
How can the third be disappointing when it has aliens?
We’ve been getting some good classics lately with metal gear solid master collection and now tomb raider. I wonder which one will be next?
It should include an auto save at the start of each level, but manual saves are far superior to auto saves, especially in a game as tricky as this!
I think I'd more than welcome the manual save system even if it is the only way to save your progress on that note I feel like a map system should have been implemented though you can easily get lost in those levels
The remastered graphics really do look like old ps2 graphics in a good way. Some people would be disappointed in that, but I miss that look
It goes from feeling like a late 90s game to an early 2000s and I think that works well for it.
I never had any problems using the old controls back in the day and i sure dont have that problem now.
I dont even know if tank controls is the right word since it doesnt even feel like tank controls more like croc controls ;)
Ah the butler I remember him haunting me at every turn in the mansion so much so that he would sneek up behind me and quite literally scare me he like a ghost that haunts you to put it simply 🙀
You can’t go into a TANK classic with a modern mindset, modern controls were meant for advanced
This is how graphics should have been done for the MGS vol1 collection.
As someone who has never played a Tomb Raider game before, playing in the first game has been a bloody nightmare. The gameplay controls don't work well and make it really hard to actually get where I'm trying to go. Would not recommend this game for anyone who doesn't already have experience with it.
Ah, the old ageing controls...that most people who have played it have reverted to the original 3d controls ...because its not all like the other 99% of games with scripted jumping. 4:05
Haha I did the same thing yesterday- I meant to save my game but I clicked load and I was confused at first 😂😂 I’m liking it so far, I played the originals back when I was 5-7 as they came out over at my cousins place. And understanding these are old classics helps me understand they aren’t perfect and allows me to enjoy them much more.
As for the lighting- I see it in more of a realistic view point. When you’re exploring a temple I imagine not every room will be lit by the sun beaming through a hole elsewhere. So it doesn’t bother me at all. Makes more sense that way
Realism? In a game where Lara runs around in shorts in the snow and fights dinosaurs? 😂 but I agree about the save, I really want that patched and changed.
Bring a flashlight 😉
0:09 lol 😅
Try the first game's PS1 Saving system if you think forced manual saving is hard. Save points throughout the levels, usable ONLY ONCE. Have fun.
It can’t just be me right? It’s just so hard!
I’m happy playing hard games resident evil remakes on hard
Cod on veteran
Witcher on hard
Bloodborne
Dark souls
Crash 4 and the remaster etc
Why didn't they let you revisit levels as you complete them??
Im so glad they redone the controlls ive always hated the tank controls even when playing on the ps1
Worth it or not? No physical release? Then NOT.
I agree 3 is not great, 1 and 2 definitely the best. Tank controls best for me but I'm used to it from the ps1 days. Either way I love 1 and 2 so much nostalgia and love for these games
Thank you for this review, I’m gonna buy this while it’s on sale for 25% off.
Does it have one home menu icon or three?
One
@@Andrew84UK ooh thanks
It’s better to just get good with the tank controls. Or even modify them slightly to your taste in the customization. Like swapping jump and action around. But it’s gonna be weird with analog movement
Ah I have met someone on my level! 😆 I wondered if I was the only one who did that! The tank controls came back to me instantly, but I had to make x the jump button again.
It's not worth it if you can't save this game.
Why am I having such a difficult time trying to save my game in Tomb Raider One for Nintendo Switch? I've spent hours trying to solve this mystery. I finished The Caves then Lara drowned in the next level. My only choice was to choose New Game or Unfinished Business. The save of The Caves then disappears from the compass. And why is it in the compass?
This is mind boggling and I've wasted many hours trying to figure this out and three calls to Nintendo Support. Deleted save data on my Switch and then the software, then downloaded again. Did that twice. Studied many walkthroughs on TH-cam and the internet but to no avail.
Please help. Thank you so much!!
Man,
They should bring now the Xbox 360/PS3 Era Tomb Raider games.
They are a perfect fit to Switch
Including Angel of Darkness, and Underworld, but mainly Angel of Darkness.
@@whitewolf3051 Angel of Darkness needs a real remake, too many issues. Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld can just be remastered.
Excited to give it a try. Free form platforming are all but gone in the rebooted trilogy.
Hey Guys! Could y'all make a Playlist for your video reviews? I'd like to watch them back to back (or listen while working)
You can click on the main page and scroll through the videos and make your own Playlists out of them. It's pretty easy.
@mazengwe28 I'm aware of how to make a Playlist. But as it's their channel, They would benefit from putting it in their Playlist tab.
Then other viewers could catch up on the newest games without having to scroll through 300+ videos.
These look great I will have to check them out when I can get a good deal on pre-owned for the Switch.
I can't find this game on the New Zealand E Shop?? What's going on it was released two days ago
Truly no one who's waited 20+ years cares we are getting it regardless take it from an OG player from the Sega Saturn version
This game was too hard for me when I was a kid, maybe I’ll try to play it now 🤣
The modern controls make this game much more difficult to play, my suggestion is to use the original controls and get used to them and your play thru will be much more enjoyable
You unlock the save crystals in new game +
“albeit” is simply a condensed version of “all be it”, and therefore pronounced like that.
Sorry, posting this instead of the more boring “excellent review and I agree with everything you said”.
Yes it’s worth it, it’s amazing!!
I had to go to tank controls to navigate the levels.
I really wanted to buy the remastered series. Of course the American eshop doesn’t let me pay with a foreign credit card but i cant find the games in the Hong Kong eshop. Any solution?
Glad to hear that Switch performance is pretty good.
Think I'll pass on this one. Never was a Tomb Raider fan. I'm playing Okami HD for the first time and liking that. We need a sequel to that.
Auto-save, yes just respawn right over the pit of spikes you just landed on.
Its not even that.
Imagine having almost zero health because you wanted to explore some location so you didnt pay attention and the game auto saves and screws you over to the point you have to restart the whole level because 1 gun shoot from some enemy means death and you will get shoot there is no way to avoid it.
Losing the side jump with revamped is unacceptable. Game is much harder without it. So unless there’s a way….
It's admirable that they gave the option for "modern" controls, but the games' levels simply weren't built for that level of looseness. And yeah, TR3 is way too open way too early; finding where you're supposed to go is a nightmare in that game
I’m really enjoying it! I adored it in the 90s and I love this love letter to it ❤
Playing this already on my phone!! Great remake!
Its a remaster
