I still play my GameCube copy one every 2 years or so. It’s one of those rare 10/10 games. It feels like such a fully realized lived in world that they just drop you into.
When I first played it, I really thought “wow games are just going to get better and better. In 20 years they will be amazing” I really didn’t know we were in the golden age and things would get much worse
@@drowningin cool 😁
I had no idea this even released on Switch. I'll be picking it up right away. It's a great game.
Makes two of us pal I never knew either 🤣
It was a ghost drop I was on the store the day it dropped and it wasn’t there checked Again 20 minutes later and it was there. I was just as surprised
Hey I can finally play this after buying it THREE times in the past and it being unplayable time on both PC and Xbox. An early water boss fight in the hovercraft crashed the game every single time.
Should have gotten it on GameCube. I owned every version pc, ps2, Xbox, GameCube. And without a doubt GameCube was the best version. Xbox was a close second but since it takes place on water a lot something about the GameCube just made the water look the best in that version
Should have brought it on PS. Played it many times and had no problems with crashing or anything like that.
For a good while there, I forgot that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development... Given that Ubisoft tried asking the fans to make assets for them, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they ended up using AI to do it for them instead...
Damn I hope not, ai is ugly and in future could cause copyright issues. I rember the trailer for 2 that they released but I wasn’t a fan I hoped they’d keep the cartoony style and the over the top swearing was cringe and seemed a bit try hard. Shame cause number 1 is probably one of my fave games ever
Is this not the second remaster? I swear i played it on the xbox360 as a digital only.
edit. Found it and it was 60 fps on the xbox360.
I remember this game when it came out. It was unfortunate it never sold well despite it being a great game.
Too bad you have to go through limited run for a physical copy
But think about the poor indie company Ubisoft! They'd go broke if they had to release a physical copy themselves!
@@OrangeLightning
limited run games sorta sucks half the time. Game itself is more than worthy of a traditional physical release 🤷♂️
Eh not that bad people love physical games for some reason
@@meric12131415 they do but it shouldn't be a limited print. It should have a proper physical release instead of lmr's artificial scarcity bs
Which will never see the light of day in Europe, an easy skip for me coz I’m not buying this digitally.
One of the best games ever! ❤
Good to know Alex enjoyed it without any nostalgia for it. I was always slightly interested in the game but never got around to it.
Finally a classic game priced correctly take notes Nintendo.
this and Sands of time also on the GameCube are the only two games I believe I’ve ever beaten. Both were awesome
I own this on my GameCube and after I saw the notice about this I bought it for the switch. Unfortunately it looks a bit washed out but also luckily one can buy it on PlayStation 4/5. Yay!
Just one of those games that makes you feel good. Will revisit the game for sure.
This game is a masterpiece. Really glad you enjoyed it, Alex! Hope your review wins over as many new fans as this game deserves.
By some strange existential feeling, if Tony Stark has a favorite video game, I’m quite sure it’s this.
Oh boy
Can we get Rayman, RAGE 1 and Legacy of Kain series on the Switch? Please
I doubt this game have aged very well.I remember even backvthen the controls were iffy
It has improved controls apparently
I love how Alex starts videos
Is the final boss still garbage
Why is it garbage? Because of his special obstical? 😅
I finished the game on Xbox yesterday and the answer is an emphatic YES. Steaming hot garbage
And still waiting for that sequel 😫😩
I was never convinced if I'm honest. Especially with the whole ads presentation.
@dcashley303 just such a shame as the E3 trailer was quality and the little snippets of gameplay we saw looked so ambitious, still in development apparently though 🤔
Vaporware...
It's called Star Wars Outlaws
Playing this on GameCube controller on the Switch is a real trip, having never played the original. Loving it so far!
Is this game similar to old school 3d zelda? Or is it closer to tomb raider/uncharted?
Its definitely more like Zelda
Collecting hearts, items, upgrades, putting together a vehicle, and taking snapshots of various wildlife
Meh, more like the older 3D Zelda games:
1. The first few story-locations you visit follow the Zelda formula of visiting a location, getting a new item after exploring the location for a bit, using said-item to continue exploring, and fighting a boss at the end.
2. The locations you visit have maps you can take a picture of, just like Zelda locations have maps to find.
3. There are hearts to collect in this game.
4. Jade wears green, like Link.
5. Talking animals
Woah I didn't know this was on switch. Neat!
Does this game have anything to do with nietzsche?
Great game. Playing it again really reminds me how much better triple A games used to be.
They absolutely weren't lol, and I say this as somebody who grew up with the N64 and Gamecube. Play this game without nostalgia glasses and you will see that the average AAA game today has much better mechanics, controls, camera, overall presentation, story-telling, voice acting etc etc. The combat, for example, is just god-awful and the stealth is as simplistic as it could possibly be. Heck, even the menus feel clunky AF.
@@Christopher-md7tf I view games as art. You clearly dont, and thats fine. We can agree to disagree.
@@alibabaschultz352 I do, too (or, rather, they have the potential to be art). But they are *interactive* art, and, as such, all these things I mentioned matter. Not that wild of a statement, I think, to say that the *gameplay* matters when you're *playing* a *game* lol
And, again, even the more, let's say "clasically artistic" aspects of games like voice acting, story-telling, music, are all typically done way better today than they were back then.
@@Christopher-md7tf I disagree. You might wanna learn to accept that
@@alibabaschultz352 Ok, keep those nostalgia glasses on my friend.
i never play this game eventho i knew this 20 years ago. I might buy this and play this right away.
You definitely should. Don't put it off any longer. It's one of a kind!
It's a great game. Doesn't feel like a Ubisoft game at all. Feels like something's from Nintendo or Insomniac
You should. It doesn't even feel like a Ubisoft game. Feels like it's straight from Nintendo or Insomniac
frame rate , I keep saying it is your nintendo slow system.
I’ve been a bit torn with this; it’s a game I’ve always wanted to try, but giving Ubisoft money is something I don’t want to given their track record and company history
Just buy it hahaha
This was from their better years. The engine was used in numerous games, including Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and more.
Plus the soundtrack is incredible
I played this game on the original Xbox.
The game is so fun. Just get it!!
You HAVE to play it in your lifetime. Thank me later
Nice. I’ll probably grab this at some point. Right now I’m playing Tales of Berseria on my Steam deck
These recent intro disclaimers on outdated depictions in old games get people eye rolling. We get it, depictions are outdated but they don’t have to rub it in. I get the feeling they are legally obliged nowadays to look progressive.
LOVED the game. Until I gathered all I needed for my spaceship.. Then Knope. Your Voice AI...lol
Not buying it hate limited run
I bought this for my Xbox and just couldn't get into it; I think I returned it to Gamestop. I got to the caves about an hour in and got lost and annoyed. I wish I could borrow it from someone to see if I'd like it now without investing.
I played it on the PS2 but I barely remember it even though I finished it.
What about the fps? Is it constant 30fps? Or does it drop “?
They need to just hurry and get the switch 2 out. Less than a year away. Grrr
This remaster kinda destroys the original artstyle.
How long would this game take to complete ???
They seems to change a lot the control for one has improved a lot and feels great!
Always go sci fi crazy in the early summer for some reason
Wish you had mentioned that the only way to play this without linking a Ubisoft account was to disconnect the internet by switching to airplane mode.
I had hoped that there was an option to opt out, like in Lost Crown, but no such luck.
EDIT: there is a way to opt out, but it's silly. If you just hit cancel when prompted to link your Ubisoft account, it will just pop the prompt up again. But if you hit A to link, and then cancel out of the link screen, the prompt goes away. Not sure why cancel doesn't just let you, you know, cancel out of linking accounts, but this is Ubisoft.
Alex looks just like the news guy from Hillys at the start of this video. 🙂
I don't care about frame rate
No Wind Waker or Twilight Princess remaster?? Well this is more than enough for me
I don't know about docked but the fps droped in handheld mode are really bothering me and I'm far to be a fps snob. For a 20 years old game it's quit disapointed even at this price. Kudos for the price anyway.
Why are reviewers always so overly obsessed with fps? I honestly dont get it.
It's the new Bit war. Number bigger = number better! Ignoring the fact that 60fps isn't necessary for every type of game.
Because it's more important than maybe you realize. Fps, unlike just graphics, actually affects gameplay. After playing certain games on other consoles at 60fps, it's very noticeable when playing the same games on Switch. Doom and Doom Eternal being good examples.
It’s more responsive. More responsiveness is always better. And it’s weird that Ubisoft, one of the most successful game companies ever, couldn’t make a GameCube game with minor visual improvements that isn’t very large run at 60fps. I think most people understand with the likes of Doom or Tears of the Kingdom that a $300 portable console released almost a decade ago isn’t going to net you that kind of performance, but this is bizarre.
I’d be conflicted about giving Ubisoft my money but the ROMs already available so no worries 👍🏻
Worth $5 only.
did anyone talk about framerate 10,20 years ago??? stop equaling game quality with some irrelevant metric as framerate is
If I remember correctly it's also a rather short game for an action adventure. Something between 12 to 15 hours.
30fps is a dealbreaker for me.
FR, metroid prime remastered runs at 60 and the visuals were improved at a level that most people thought it was a full remake.
Yes FINALLY the Video what I wanted to see came out! I've always wanted to pplay Beyond Good & Evil a Masterpiece and a Legendary Hidden Gem of Ubisoft: Beyond Good & Evil what got now 20th Anniiversary Edition dude 20 freaking years that's a lot almost my whole life as a 21 years old guy! Only for the 20€ BG&E 20th Anniiversary on every Platforms Xbox One, Series X/S, PC, PS4/PS5 and Nintendo Switch what i'm surprised it's on even PS4 and Nintendo Switch too REALLY is worth it to play, I've bought it for the Nintendo Switch, it looks so good on it BG&E have an interesting Story, amazing hearing Music what I just watched Ubisoft's Re-Orchestra video about of making the Music, good Gameplay and a nice looking characters defienitily my favourite Jade LOVE Beyond Good & Evil! 💚🐷🌌🪐
The fact that this got an 8 and they didnt upgrade squat shows this game is very good. Ubisoft should have put more effort into making the sequal. Now since they out the development on pause, they are almost going to have to start over to match it to lastest gen.
Looks like crap. They should have remastered it after 20 years if they weren't going to release the sequel.
