    I live in downtown Houston, and my dad lives in New Bern. I love visiting! The downtown is very walkable and safe. The history and old house inventory there is awesome. And last but not least, the new Harris Teeter rocks!

      The Harris Teeter does in fact ROCK!. It's one of the reasons we will be stop in New Bern in a few weeks. That and the downtown, water front, make this is great place to spend the night before heade=ing on down to our final destination (Beaufort, SC area) for a month or so

    I just randomly found you. I grew up in vanceboro then moved to Bridgeton. I’m living in pamlico now. But wow. I was thinking at the start, “yeah he has the accent, but is he really from here?” Haha. But by the end of it, yeah. Haha. Yes. You’re from here. Haha.

    Is the Neuse river clean enough to swim/kayak in or eat fish from? A coworker told me something about a Sulphur mine or something nearby? Is there a smell of Sulfur in the air, or sulphur water?

    • @DickProphet
      @DickProphet ปีที่แล้ว

      Not even close. We call it Neuse Juice. You have hog waste, chemicals from DuPont and coal ash from Duke Energy.

      Water quality in North Carolina isn’t good. Some areas are worse than others. Google North Carolina PFAS

      Weyerhaeuser has been caught dumping in the neuse river before, and it’s also the cause of the sulfur smell. There’s so much pollution, I definitely wouldn’t swim or eat from it😕

    How about schools and crime rates in New Bern? I am considering moving there and am in the middle of searching for information. Also, do you think there is an opportunity for a cybersecurity job there? Or better in a bigger city like Raleigh? Thanks for making such useful content.

      I think fair housing laws don’t allow realtors to discuss things like this

    • @Gocryaboutit28
      @Gocryaboutit28 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bane2256correct, it’s a very restricting law that prohibit Realtors from being straight up and honest about how bad a place really is, because of….reasons. (Licensed Realtor)

      But as someone from New Bern I can say it has changed a lot since I’ve moved away. Eastern NC as a whole is changing in a LOT of different ways. Raleigh is changing and developing creating many different Tech opportunities often! Good luck on your move!!

    Isn’t it also a low lying area and easily floods?

    • @GiftHorse123
      @GiftHorse123 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just have to look at the Flood Maps. The Neuse and Trent rivers have tributaries that lead inland and are susceptible to flooding

    • @walsterdoomit
      @walsterdoomit 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely every basin is susceptible to flooding. Even in a desert where there's never water.
