I just threaded the holes for a Heli coil type insert and used M3 screws.

      Very nice!
Another viewer suggested M3 thread inserts and I ordered some - they arrived today and also work great!

I might try this for when loading precision loads on my Dillon 550B 👍

How do you keep your press so lovely and clean?

This was filmes just a few weeks after I completely disassembled and cleaned the entire press in an ultrasonic cleaner 😅

GunWodan thanks for the video. Curious, have you installed the mini case feeder by Double Alpha Acadamy using one of Armanov's toolheads on your 550? If so, did you have any issues with the plunger or plunger hold bar fitting or positioning correctly? I wish I could have seen the Armanov toolhead installed on the press in your video. Oh well I'll keep looking.
There is another manufacturer that makes these toolheads and in a TH-cam video you can see that the toolhead is slightly higher than the Dillon stock head. The presenter of that video assured us that all of the stock operations would work fine but I'm not sure about the aftermarket case feeder as it utilizes the center hole for the case feed plunger.
    Any thoughts?

    Gute Idee 💡 👍🏻

Let's get this straight, one takes the free float out of the tool head and puts free float at the dies. Honestly all of this makes no sense. The tool head tops out when in use even with only one die therefore it isn't out of square but squared. If you were just to seat a bullet in a Dillon 550 the tool head tops out right away before the seating really gets started. Try it and see. This is a fool's pipe dream.

You can easily see the difference for yourself. Tool heads prepared like that can be used in traditional „free floating“ configuration by loosening the bolts - and in my case I can tell a differente between a „loose“ tool head and one that‘s properly tightened. I appreciate any horizontal play a die has for self alignment. A standard unmodified tool head has VERTICAL play though and that potentially introduces inconsistencies in vertical operations (seat, expand, crimp)
Especially when using a low seating force, the weight of the entire tool head + dies is pushing down on the cartridge before it is squared up against the top of the frame. There is even potential for the tool head to tilt slightly within the frame …

@@GunWodan I don't find this to be true when using my Dillon. It tops out with very little pressure. With some dies it absolutely does and has no play. When using collet dies the toolhead tops out even more so. Like a collet crimp die and a collet neck sizing die. You are better with a bit of free float than zero free float and tight. Of course if it makes you feel better what ever works for you. Many reloaders do things differently with different results. BTW I have no problem with the standard Dillon tool heads as well as some CNC ones as well. I just use the pins.
