I mean they’d have to be stupid *not* to put their flagship characters in a starting box. Though I wish they came with more than just ultramarine transfers.
The thing I like best about the Nerogaunts is where the plating is on their bodies. Scientifically, animals evolve to have thicker hide or scales to survive in certain conditions, and Tyranids are masters of adaptation. These are melee units that charge in and rip their targets apart, which means they'll be getting shot at as they close the gap. The thicker carapace is exactly where bullets or lasgun fire would land if they were shot at from the front. It's a very nice attention to detail
This box set looks pretty cool. I'd love to get back into 40k, I was a 3rd edition player, back when Games Workshop wasn't charging cocaine prices for plastic minis...

I also drilled out the sword hand from the Captain and gave him a comically small-for-his-size Thunder Hammer, but since my successors are artisans I think it fits pretty well. I had a hoot with this box set, and being the first one I could buy with adult money it will hold a very warm place in my heart for years :)
I just started my first army the past few days (a little ole infernus squad from the introduction set) and I have been researching like crazy. As of today, almost 1.5 years after this video, the 200 euros Leviathan box (if you find it in stock) contains around 250 to 300 euros worth of space marines plastic alone (it's "around" because I don't know what possible upgrade sprues the standalone kits might have), excluding all the other stuff (book, tyrranids, play accessories). I guess the tyranids also have some similar price points, I just saw it from the perspective of the SM's, so I guess you could easily sell the army you (probably) don't want for 50-100 euros (probably even way more) and basically get a small army for 1/3 to 1/2 of the standalone price.
Hey Jay if your so tired of painting black why don't you paint up dorn last wall protocol? That way you can paint up the librarian as a imperial fist, crimson fist , retributors or any other successor chapters?
Luckily I introduced a friend to 40k last year, and he landed on Nids, so I'm splitting the box with him. It'll be a challenge to integrate some of the marines into my Space Wolves successors, but it'll be a fun challenge. The ones I'm most unsure of are the Apthercary and Sternguard, might sell them since there's a risk I won't be able to run them. Or just start a second marines army.
Hahaha 😂 that comment about the rock is so spot on... You could make a hole in that wall by turning around too fast with a Leviathan box bumping in it.

I’m liking the models a lot and I’m starting to think about how they could fit with my Black Templar army. But I did just put Roboute together yesterday and I am planning on an Ultramarines army so perhaps I’ll use this box for that army. My friend and I are either going to pay half each (he’s a Tyranid player) or we’re going to each buy our own box and trade Astartes for Tyranids. That’ll either cut the cost on the box if it really is close to $250, or I’ll get doubles of all of these cool new SM models. I’ve Templars, Black Legion, Necrons, and Grey Knight armies at the moment, and while I like Tyranids I don’t really want to start yet another army as Ultra and Adeptus are going to be my next two armies.
With the Librarian you could paint him as a show piece. Then put him in a completion and see what happens. That way you can say not for the list but also not gone to waste! The nids look so so good!!!!!!
I've never cared to play Tyranids, besides some Genestealers I have nothing for them. But this is a pretty cool amount of Tyranids to get into the them. So unless this box sells out instantly I'll buy it online if I find it at a discount on release day.

The price makes perfect sense when you think about how you get 10 more mini's when compared, and there have been 2 price increases that I'm aware of since the indomitus box was released
Speaking of Dominion, my local store had so many after the fiasco they didn't know what to do with them, they're practically giving them out during events.
Wondering whether the dreadnought have the alternative weapon included or not? Don't like the missile launcher and flamedrawer. Want the plasma cannon or heavy gatlings.
I feel like a different (left) shoulderpad on the infernus marines would break up the silhouette nicely. some large heatshield facing in the direction of the enemy or something.
I also like your comment about the dread.... I wonder if its not so much the feet but how long the legs are? I mean the old one was so much shorter and squat. Maybe GW upper management has a think for long tall blondes?
I like the pyrblasters or whatever they’re called fine, but boy do they look like the bodies are fully reused from Intercessors. Been wanting to do something Salamander tho, so..
I like that the Black Templar HQs came with some combi options (just plasma for the multi part stuff i think and the flamer on the everything is skulls Castellan). The sternguard getting a combi melta is nice, excited to see the full kits for all the new units/refreshed units!! My hopes for what the full kits and options are so far are the termies keeping all their old stuff (maybe even the sergeant getting something new like THSS), sternguard keeping the similar amount of options the firstborn kit has (especially the heavy flamer), the flamer marines having a heavy flamer would be really nice imo, maybe some kind of new flame grenade? Im hoping the rules for combi weapons do keep their individual functions of flamers, plasmas, meltas all having the profile of both weapons, and that the combi weapon profile on that librarian datasheet is just for a specfici weapon and not all of them rolled into one. Im not a Nids collecter, but with this box Im realllly tempted to get it, and if I dont find someone to share this half with then i guess Ill just have to start a nids army lol
Onto the Starcraft comparisons, I actually really like the design of Heavy Intercessors...probably because they remind me so much of Terrans from Starcraft. Sure, the Leagues of Votann, but I just did the design. That and their heavy bolters. Liked them better than Agressors (I don't have any Terminators yet).
I care and hearing this makes me happy... One thing I hope they introduce is more of the variety we used to have with the firstborns... such as the helmets, backpacks etc. that you mention! Every single suit of armour being identical takes away from the idea that the armours are relics that are added to iteratively over the millenia.
It's nice to see Space Marines get some loving. They never appear in the beginner box.
Especially Ultramarines, nice to see the smaller less known chapters getting out in a box 😇

I'm curious if Dark Angels will be able to use the Stern Guard Veterans as can't take them currently...
If I want to get into Warhammer, should I wait for the release of the 10th edition or get hold of the 9th now?
Flamer squad def should have had gas tank back packs or something!
The Screamer-Killer's red rocket is a little distracting haha
I loved the tyranid trailer for the box
New Nid Spider is pretty much exactly the Venomcrawler sculpt with a new skin pulled over in the computer.
I mean it still looks awesome so I’m really excited for it. It’s my favourite model in the box.
Will there be somthing like a warhammer magazin with the tyranids
so, I was thinking about kit bashing the librarian into a Chaplin. just give him some candles and some of the other bits from the bt upgrade sprue. On the other hand i have been thinking about starting dark angels so i might just paint him up
Can I buy only the tyranids plus the codex and the cards let me know
Dude, I SO want the Leviathan box for my first set of Minis.
so with this as a brand new player do i need the codex to space marnies and tyrinds?
For the captain in termie armour, you should make the one grey knight!
I can see the winged Prime coming as a build option in a new Shrikes box set, just as a normal Prime is an option in a box of Warriors.
I have been looking into starting warhammer. Should I wait for the launch box of this or should I just buy the currents starter kit
if you want to play one of these armies this is a great deal especially if you can find someone to go in on the other army you won't be playing
Love tyranids and the new look great.
Upside down mag should be bananas to look like a Bren or Owen gun
Love the box but I was really looking forward to some new genestealer sculpts
The price makes perfect sense when you think about how you get 10 more mini's when compared, and there have been 2 price increases that I'm aware of since the indomitus box was released
Looking back you definitely should redo the librarian that came in this box and have him join your flesh terrors
Speaking of Dominion, my local store had so many after the fiasco they didn't know what to do with them, they're practically giving them out during events.
I thought Tyranid weapons were generally separate organisms from the main nid. Is that not the case?
Yeah the infernus guys are cool, but they probably could have just sold an upgrade sprue for the weapons
Salamanders players? Hey, that's me!
Very excited for the new flamer Marines. Almost as excited as I am for new Tyranids!
Wondering whether the dreadnought have the alternative weapon included or not?
Don't like the missile launcher and flamedrawer. Want the plasma cannon or heavy gatlings.
So you want the current Dreadnaught.
@@kenupton4084 Yes.
I think with the Dreadnought, if you flip the legs around so the knees bend backwards, it would be like a Battletech Mech and look a lot better
I never saw when the box is going to be for sale, did anyone get a date this weekend?
I like the pyrblasters or whatever they’re called fine, but boy do they look like the bodies are fully reused from Intercessors. Been wanting to do something Salamander tho, so..
I thought that said 40k Lunch Box at first.
Now I want a range of 40k themed lunch boxes.
I am planning on having my Relics of the Chapter represented by old Pattern Helmets, Backpacks, Weapons, and Banner Poles
Nobody cares
@@M.Jebbers ok bud... call your mom, ask for a hug, it's okay, we all need one sometimes.
I care and hearing this makes me happy... One thing I hope they introduce is more of the variety we used to have with the firstborns... such as the helmets, backpacks etc. that you mention! Every single suit of armour being identical takes away from the idea that the armours are relics that are added to iteratively over the millenia.
